The pose looks janky, deal with it, it’s an SD kit
Liu Bei Unicorn
So the Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam is the first SD kit I ever built, I got it free from a bonus when I bought another kit, I do not know any of it’s backstory so let me just pull some info from the gundaminfo
The young leader of "Dragon's Watch," a militia group in the Shu Area, and one of the heroes who previously saved Kingdom World from a crisis. Though he is filled with a sense of justice, in some respects he still seems like a restless youth. From previous generations he has inherited a "Haro" that has mysterious powers. Thanks to his meeting with Wukong Impulse Gundam, he throws himself into battle, with the fates of worlds at stake.
Now with the actual kit, let’s start with the box. The box is really small, expected from an SD kit, and it has a very manga-ish box art of the Unicorn which looks quite dynamic compared to the actual model kit.
The kit looks quite nice, I wasn’t expecting for a relatively nice colour separation on an SD kit. The kit is separated into 6 colours, which is white for most of the body, gray for the arms, thighs and torso, blue for the shoulder pads, darker gray for some ornaments on the head and the weapon, that ugly curry-looking ass injected gold, and that crackling red plastic for the psycho frame of the Unicorn’s body.
The build quality is relatively nice, the kit is solid(ofc, it’s an SD kit) and there are only minor colour separation nit-picks I can find like needing more red psycho frame for the arms, ankle armour and the butt flap. The stickers aren’t too bad, the only one I hate is the gold foil stickers on the blue shoulder pads that don’t even match the ugly curry gold plastic, but I can just paint those pretty easily. In terms of articulation, there’s not much to say, it’s just an SD kit, the actual joints mean nothing since the proportions are just wonky and it doesn’t really let any form of proper articulation outside of swirling it’s arms and head.
The weapon is okay I guess? It’s just a gunblade, it’s made of that darker gray plastic for the body and the handle with that clear red plastic for the blade, the gunblade is straight to form the blade mode and both handle and blade bends to create the gun mode, it’s underwhelming as there’s not exactly any pose I can do with the weapon since the articulation in the Gundam is ass.
Overall, solid kit, looks nice, great for a little decoration in your workspace. You SD Gundam fans will probably love this, I’m not the biggest fan with the whole concept of SD kits but I can surely recommend this kit for anyone.
Sorry for the incredibly janky pose, making this thing stand up with all of it’s accessories is already a heavy task.
I don’t have the box so here’s a pic from Google
00 Sevensword/G
So......the OO Sevensword is one of my first Gunpla I ever had, I got the MG version a long time ago, so I apologize for the incredibly low quality photo, and I do not have the box so I wouldn’t be mentioning it too much.
The GN-0000/7S 00 Gundam Seven Sword (aka 00 Gundam Seven Sword, 00 Seven Sword), is a weapons pack/equipment variation for the GN-0000 00 Gundam that appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V side story. It is later given a additional weapon and re-designated as GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G.
The original Seven Sword System was designed specifically for the Gundam Exia. Armed with one GN Sword, two GN Blades, two GN Beam Sabers and two GN Beam Daggers, the package was meant bring out the full close combat fighting strength of the Exia. Coupled with the close combat fighting style of its Gundam Meister Setsuna F. Seiei, Exia served its role as the close combat Gundam prior to is disappearance after A.D. 2308. Seeking to do the same with the 00 Gundam, CB engineers incorporated a mix of technologies into the 00 Gundam's Seven Sword armament. Befitting its name, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword was armed with 7 close combat weapons; the experimental GN Katars, the standardized GN Beam Sabers, the long and short GN Sword IIs, and the large GN Buster Sword.
So the kit itself, it’s probably great, but I didn’t give it any justice, The kit is split into 5 colours. Grey for the inner frame, white for most of it’s outer armor, blue for the more major accents, with red and yellow for the more minor accents. The build is nice(I guess), my friend has the MG OO XN Raiser which is just the same Gunpla but with alternative accessories and it was great, the articulation is good, but this is where the problem starts
For accessories, just like it’s name, it has 7/8 weapons, A GN Buster Sword II, 2 beam sabers, GN sword II short, GN sword II long, 2 GN Katars and a GN sword II blaster. The weapons are nice, but the kit, the kit could not handle all the arnaments attached on it’s body, the decals come in normal sticker style and dry transfers.
Overall, great kit, this is just my own fault of not taking care of the kit more properly, the weapons are very heavy, you would need a lot of glue and top coats to make the joints in this kit strong enough to wield them.
Amazing Exia
So.....the Amazing Exia is a good looking kit, I got the MG version of it, probably one of the worst decision of my life. Exia is one of my favourite mobile suits from the entire Gundam franchise, and wow Bandai really did this mobile suit no justice in the MG line.
The PPGN-001 Gundam Amazing Exia is a custom Gunpla from the anime series, Gundam Build Fighters, and is based on an incomplete Gunpla developed by Plavsky Particle System Engineering. It is piloted by Meijin Kawaguchi.
Originally an incomplete Exia based Gunpla codenamed A5, it is modified into its current form by Allan Adams and Meijin Kawaguchi. However, the Gundam Amazing Exia was only 80% complete when it was used in the semi-finals, and some of its system was not yet fully adjusted. The incomplete Gundam Amazing Exia is armed with an Amazing GN Sword, an Amazing GN Shield as well as the wrist mounted GN Vulcans. It also has a Trans-Am System installed for dire situations. The completed form of Amazing Exia has an additional sword stored on the hip and a Trans-Am Booster on its back, which not only improve the suit's performance but also stores an extra pair of handheld blades. The full on Amazing Exia(with it’s Trans-Am booster has only appeared in the show for like......5 seconds before some cliche anime plot point turning it into the evil Exia Dark Matter.
The kit itself...........is kinda sh*t, but now now, let’s start with the box. The box comes in a blue filter with a crappy 3D rendering of Amazing Exia in an awkward pose. Ofc like I said the box has a blue filter it does mean it’s P-Bandai, does that mean it’s good? ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you’re smart(unlike me) and somehow still want this kit, get the standard release MG Exia Dark Matter, it’s the same old garbage but in red and black instead of white and blue.
The kit is garbage, the build feels ancient and it’s not the good kind of ancient. The kit is mainly seperated into 3 colours, grey for the inner frame, white for the majority of the armour and blue for most of the body and the accesories.
The build quality in this kit is garbage, loose parts, loose ankles, overly heavy backpack and the bad articulation just makes it worse, this kit is not the best poser and with it’s loose ankles and heavy backpack, I recommend you getting a stand.
The accesories are Amazing GN Sword, an Amazing GN Shield, additional sword stored on the hip and a Trans-Am Booster(basically a sh*tty, overly heavy backpack with next to no use other than making the kit incredibly back heavy). The standard sticker style decals are bad, I kinda expected more from a P-Bandai release like a giant sheet of waterslide decals but then again, why am I complaining about decals WHEN BANDAI CAN’T EVEN GET THE MODEL KIT ITSELF RIGHT!!!
Overall, garbage kit, don’t buy it if you’re not willing to make very heavy modifications to make this kit decent, if you want a great Exia, just pony up and get something like a PG or Metal Build Exia which I’d say is more worth than this over-priced piece of trash. This kit is what got me kinda terrified with P-Bandai kits, but there are good P-Bandai kits out there that I would whole-heartedly recommend to you. Or snother solution, you could try getting a normal Exia, heavily tighten the joints and get an Amazing Exia resin kit from sellers.
Astray Turn Red
The Astray Turn Red is.....a mobile suit I didn’t even know existed, I just got the MG version since well, the box art caught my eye and well.....it’s an Astray with giant swords, how could anyone just go through pass that? So I got it, and this was my first experience building a MG Astray.
The MBF-02VV Gundam Astray Turn Red is apparently a mobile suit that came out of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray R photonovel, look I’m a Gundam fan, but even I barely read the novel/mangas. Anyways, The Gundam Astray Turn Red is a mobile suit created by Valerio Valeri for his own use. However, since the suit is fully controlled by the combat AI called "80", he does not need to do any actual piloting, although he still sits in the cockpit. The suit has a custom head unit and backpack. Its main body is constructed using MBF-P0X Gundam Astray Noir's spare parts and its body color is basically a reverse of MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame's (hence the suit's name).
The Turn Red is usually armed with a pair of head-mounted CIWS and a pair of Tactical Arms on its back, but it can also be equipped with the same type of beam rifle, beam sabers and shield as the Red Frame. It also carries additional power packs for the Tactical Arms like MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L. The mobile suit is supposed to be used alongside CAT1-VGR Hyperion GR and CAT1-VGL Hyperion GL, both are commandeered by the Turn Red itself and serve as its protectors during battle. The Turn Red is installed with the Trio System to improve its cooperation with the other two AI-controlled suits.
Now back to the actual model kit, it comes in quite a giant box. Also one interesting thing about thus thing, it’s P-Bandai on countries outside of Asia, which is something I find quite confusing.
The kit itself is awesome, well then again, the MG Astray has always been awesome. It’s divided to mainly 4 colours, white for most of the inner frame, red for the outer armour, light grey for the lower body, grey for the riffle and some parts of mobile suit. Although I find the build of the Astray being a but hard, I don’t exactly have the biggest workplace for Gunpla building, and the Astray does alot of runner jumping during it’s build since the body of the kit is quite literally just red and white, so parts moulding during the manufacturing is kinda cramped.
Inn terms of build quality, it’s nice, it is just the standard MG Astray that we had for several years and this kits stood hard through the test of time, runner jumping is very noticeable because of the very simple colours of the mobile suit. The articulation is nice, just like the every other Astray, just be careful with the head since the V fin is prone to pooping off if you don’t glue it.
The accessories are fine, the kit comes with a beam riffle, shield, beam sabers(without giving me beams effects in box, WTF Bandai?!?), daggers, and 2 big tactical arms, which is basically 2 giant convertible swords, can be used as a greatsword and a gatling gun. This kit comes with waterslide decals, which is always a plus, didn’t bother attaching it since I like the Astray with no decals.
Overall, great kit, I can recommend for anyone, beginners or veterans. I really don’t like the nature of runner jumping of Astrays, and also take it into consideration that this kit is apparently P-Bandari on some/most regions.
Sazabi
Hi, I’m no one honestly. But I like toys, I really like toys, one I like in particular are Gunplas. I will be discussing about one of my favourite kits, the Sazabi. Just to get this out of the way, this isn’t a guide to beginners or anything like that, this is my honest toughts about the Gunpla I bought and built.
The MSN-04 Sazabi has always been an iconic mobile suit of the Gundam franchise, it is piloted by the legend himself, Char Aznable and the rival of our main protagonist, Amuro Ray.
This red comet is equipped with beam sabers, a sheld, a beam tomahawk, beam shot riffle, a long beam riffle and through Char’s Newtype abilities, he was equipped with 6 funnels that can be controlled with his mind.
Although when it comes to the actual kit, it’s awesome. The kit I’ll be discussing is the MG Sazabi Ver. Ka. The kit was released in mid December back in 2013 and wow, this kit was an innovation beast when it first shown. The kit was designed by Katoki Hajime, the designer of all Ver Ka kits. And just like all Ver Ka kits, it comes in a box with a slight silhouette of the mobile suit and giant picture of the entire mobile suit.
The kit itself is awesome, it’s a giant Gunpla(probably one of the biggest MG kits) with it’s striking colors(not as striking as the new RG Sazabi) and tuns of details. This kit is mainly separated into 7 colors, a light red, a normal red and dark red for most of it’s armor, grey for most of it’s inner frame, silver for a lot of the insides of opening hatches(yes, this kit has a lot of opening parts)and some yellow accents all over the kit.
The build quality is awesome, it’s a big, heavy, solid kit, sure it has a lot of articulation but a Gunpla this bulky doesn’t look very good in overly dynamic poses, so I just kept it on a normal standing pose.
For accessories, this kit has all of it’s equipment from the anime, its beam sabers, shield, beam tomahawk, beam shot riffle, beam effect parts for the beam saber and beam tomahawk, long beam riffle and all six funnels.
And speaking of accessories, you can’t talk about a Ver Ka kit without mentioning about it monolithic sheet of waterslide decals. They’re awesome, they’re very easy to apply, but I only have 1 problem. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS THOUGHT MAKING THE NEO ZEON SYMBOL ON THE SHIELD TO A STICKER WAS A GREAT IDEA?!? That symbol is very big(just like the decal), the decal is quite hard to apply right and couldn’t they make that symbol from a real plastic piece?
Other than that, this kit is awesome, I highly recommend you getting it, but if you are a beginner, don’t just jump to these kits, or any Ver Ka kits in general.
