Nope!! Our casting for this production is entirely genderblind, with a focus on vocal range & tone versus the gender identity of the original actor being the same as the person we cast to sing for their roles.

The actor track for this role (Robert’s Track, as we’re drawing inspiration from the 2018 pro-shot performance) is slated to record the traditional “male ensemble” for the role, which is the only hangup there!! Robert’s ensemble is pretty low across the board, and whoever we cast would need to be capable of singing the notes comfortably and accurately. Our current castings for Joey and Corey and Jeff are all great, but are comfortably set to record the ensemble for those characters, so we need somebody for the role who can sing Robert’s traditional harmonies.

Details:

Must be 18+!

Must have bandlab (free pc/mobile recording software) and discord to be able to partake.

Must be capable of following guide material to execute harmonies accurately on both pitch and timing! (This role will typically be on lower harmonies for ensemble, so please keep this in mind.)

Above all else: muuuust be open to feedback and fixing mistakes at the discretion of the directors on board!!

I genuinely believe them having Eleven say I love you and Mike not after what Mike didn’t do with Will is the craziest decision of all time. Like. Duffers really decided to give Mike nothing. They couldn’t even make him straight with full commitment, to the point it makes no sense.

No true closeness with El, no discovery of real love with Will, no chance to run away with EITHER ONE OF THEM. Just crying over DND books with a Will who still clearly loves him, everyone down an El because “she was never gonna make it” only to let them all move on in his head while Mike stays grieving the way Hopper should have…while Hopper is at Enzo’s proposing.

Mike Wheeler became his dad, after trying on every single identity possible for five seasons—while still being centered in the collapsed arcs of his two wildly more interesting love interests. For WHAT.

you know what i’ve thought about it longer and slept on it, and i CAN believe they gave mike wheeler that stephen king ass ponyboy curtis “became a writer to one day tell the story” 🤓☝🏼 ending

i absolutely can believe that the duffers were more worried about making their flat 2D “not gay i swear” self insert a writer at the end of the story without actually bothering to develop his character throughout the entirety of S5 after swearing that he was sooo important and carried the emotional weight of S5 and had such a satisfying ending

if nothing else they wrote the perfect ending to allow for decades of fix-it fanfics to be written so at the very least thanks for fucking up so badly that you ensured the fandom would never die out

the fact the duffer brothers gave noah the painting, which was a reminder of will's unrequited love being used to uplift a poorly written and toxic relationship between two people who NEVER truly understood each other and didn't even end up together, as a wrap gift is straight up cruel and spiteful and heartless by the way. "what more could you want?" they dared asking noah about will's story when they hadn't even planned to write will and mike's "closure" scene and noah had to fight for that, for the BARE MINIMUM. fuck them and their homophobic asses.

cannot believe El actually got the Hargreeves sibling “abused kid with otherworldly magical powers who was stolen from their family and raised as a weapon/tool and ultimately had to kill their self to let everyone else live happy normal lives” treatment

and then they couldn’t even respect her enough to make it explicit and WORTH something because they’re such fucking cowards as writers that they had to make it ambiguous at the last possible second

I still don’t get why two straight men used the singular gay male character in their show as the example that “we don’t always get to be with our crush.” Why didn’t we utilize a straight character to self insert that one particular lore drop about not being able to pull in high school onto??

Oh wait. They did. Back in S2, with the Dustin / Max / Lucas love triangle. We very clearly saw a realistic representation of a boy having a “hallway crush” on a girl he didn’t know very well, and wanting to be with that person, and then not getting to date her. And we watched him get over that and be a very good friend to Max and Lucas both and support their relationship despite his initial interest in her. We already learned that lesson. And we did it in the span of a single season too.

So why did we need to see it a second go around after dragging this out for 3 full seasons? Obviously there’s Byler subtext in S1/S2, but in S3 we get the stirrings of Will’s jealousy and disinterest in girls. We get the rain fight and Mike’s jab about Will not liking girls. All cinematic parallels and lighting theories aside, both of these things were inherently in the text of the show. 3 whole seasons of stretched out ambiguity just to wrap it up and be like oh… no haha we don’t always get our crush!

I know we can’t count our losses until the credits roll on December 31st, but these are just my “post vol 2 + interviews” thoughts that I can’t shake after sitting on them for a few days.
