@traashd A night like any other. Get pissed, go out to the bar, drink until he’s one away from passing out, smoke, drive home. The drive home, while dangerous and irresponsible as all hell, was short. Less than a five minute drive from the bar. Gavin was well, well aware that being a cop didn’t give him immunity to the law, he just didn’t give a shit.
The night was going as it usually did, with Gavin’s face leant so far on his arm he may as well be face-down on the bar. Getting up to go for his smoke, Gavin drunkenly mumbled goodbye to the bartender and fumbled his way out the back door. With his back against the dimly lit brick wall, Gavin lit a cigarette and closed his eyes as the cool night air rushed over his flushed face. He took a long drag from his cigarette just as the back door of the bar opened again, another man with a cigarette already in his lips pushing out into the night. Gavin’s eyes did a once over, but nothing really registered in his head beside the quiet cursing and repeated patting of the man’s pockets, like he’d lost something.
“need a light?”
Blly was exhausted. He was exhausted and drunk and where the fuck-- was that stupid lighter? He was patting himself down in a drunken stupor outside the bar, legs uneasy beneath him. His cigarette was sticking against his chapped lower lip as he swore under his breath.
He was just about to give up entirely when someone stepped up to assist. Billy eyed the other man warily. He was unfamiliar, but... a light was a light.
“Yeah,” he said lowly, “lost my fuckin’ lighter, I guess.”
He was slurring and quickly realizing he was in no shape to even walk home at this point, let alone drive. His back hit the wall and he slid to a seated position. He looked every bit the part of a town drunk. Three days unshaven, dark circles beneath his eyes, and a far away stare.
“Thanks.”
“ w — what? “ ( hello :3 )
“I said, do you have a light?” Billy shakes his cigarette for emphasis. His lighter is dead, and man was he jonesing. He needed that sweet anxiety relieving hit of nicotine.
He offered Billy a cigarette. “ man … go to hell. “
Billy laughs, taking the cigarette and lighting up. “Only if you come with.” Billy exhales smoke on a toothy smirk, right in his face.
how your muse responds to unconditional love.
This is literally the only one that was sent to me from the HC meme and I got it three times and I keep thinking about it and something unfortunate occurred to me.
Billy has never known unconditional love.
I imagine if he ever had it, if someone ever showed him unconditional love, he wouldn’t believe them. He wouldn’t accept it. He’d lash out, he’d push back out of fear that at any moment that love would be ripped away from him or that it would be used to shame him. Worse still, he expects the people who love him to be violent with him or abandon him. He put himself in the line of fire for his mother a long time ago and we all know how that ended.
Billy doesn’t know what unconditional love is or looks like. If he ever experienced it, he’d just torpedo it. He’d self sabotage until all that was left was a smoking crater of dysfunction.And if someone could survive that, which they shouldn’t, they should fucking leave his ass, then maybe he could start to heal and believe in love again.

Billy’s lips curl away from sharp teeth, eyes flashing blue in the darkness. He was. He had no pack ties, no real direction except away from Hawkins. He’d found himself back in his home state, and things were... so damn different. He was different. He was running away from what he’d done.
And who the fuck was this?
“You got me, freckles. I don’t think I need to tell you why you should probably keep your mouth shut about it. Right?”

“Well it’s a shitty decision to have to make,” Billy snaps. He flexes his fingers around the steering wheel. He doesn’t have any idea what he’s supposed to do. He’s not a good guy. He’s not a hero. He’s supposed to be a worthless piece of selfish garbage, but every day that gets a little bit more difficult.
Especially with Steve here, pushing him to make a choice.
Make the right choice.
“I’m not a white knight, Harrington. I think you probably know that better than anyone. So just tell me what you want me to do and maybe I’ll consider doing it.”
“please… please don’t go.” ((i don't know in what context but you did the wiggly arms so i had to))
Billy frowns. He doesn’t feel guilty. In fact, he doesn’t feel much of anything at all. It was just one night, nothing special. Of course, that didn’t mean people couldn’t get the wrong idea. He knows that always a possibility.
“Sorry princess,” he flashes a charming grin, “I can’t say it wasn’t fun, but I’m a ah... free spirit.”
