With all that's going on I decided I would use this time to do something's I've never done...1st up has been coloring my hair in all the fun colors I wanted while younger and locked into the standards of Corporate America. This #hotpink is my 2nd color. The first was an #electric blue that slowly faded into a mint green.

Guess whoās been chosen to participate in @CurvetheRunwayNolaās 2019 Fashion Showā¦..You Guessed it..MEEE!!!!! And I am Super Super Excited!!! I have no idea what on earth Iām going to make but I can say I will be putting lots of color into this yearās collection and keeping with my mantra of Functional Fashion. SN ..I was able to create an impromptu look for Ms Letrian (Curve The Runway) and that really gave me so much Motivationā¦I felt like I was really Walking in my Purpose! (We did clean up that hemline) Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Sooo in the coming weeks not only am I going to continue with my Fabric dying process in order to really create a Signature technique Iām going to be studying body compositionā¦I really want to understand curves and lines and proportions ..I want to develop a set of Master Patterns that I know will just āWorkā and still allow for personal tweaks.
The 1st of these lessons came yesterday after doing some research in old fashion magazines and reading a book about pattern drafting..the book is downstairs so Iāll input itās title later..
I made this duster about a month ago with the help of my friend Golden and though pleased with the results I knew I could make it better. I later tried it on Ms Holy and again saw that although it was a great fit ..i needed to change a few things to make it ..Better..So hereās what I did I raised the Shoulder line about 2 inches and even though itās a single piece I was able to redraft and extend the waistline by about 3 inches so the flair of the garment began lower and really fell nicely over the hips. These are things that take a garment from homemade to Handmade. I am so Blessed to have friends who will spend hours helping me to perfect my designs!!! There is only so much you can do with a dress form so having real models helps alot!
I also finally completed my Parasol!!! I canāt wait till I have a chance to go to a festival and show it off!! It was a long time in the works as I was completing various other projects but the finished product was well worth the wait!!
I also Finished this wrap dress/hilo top that literally just took my breath and Chalenasā Ā away!! We did a lil photo shoot at work and realized that this look was Perfect for Her!! This is one of those things that once you put it on ..you just have to smile!
There certainly more Iād like to share with you but Iāll save it for later in the week..

On last Sunday we had Jordanās Baby Shower and it was nothing short of Amazing!!!! We decided to have a Baby Brunch which is a little different but Iām always Different,lol
The Menu was pretty Basicā¦Pancakes with White Morsels, French Toast,Croissants,Grits (Smoked Gouda, NY White Cheddar and Butter) Eggs and Turkey Bacon . But it was the Raspberry Mimosa that totally Stole the Show. It tasted like Springtime..now watch ..next time I try to make it itās gonna be Nasty,lol Cause just like with my clothing there is never a pattern..just an idea and I go from there and I donāt write anything down..I just wing it and hope it works! Lordt itās 2019..I need to do Betta,lol
Soooo Letās get to the Fashionā¦the reason weāre all here ā¦The dress Jordan wore during the shower was a quick find off of Amazon that we blinged out with Swarovski Crystals to give it a little bling and a personal touch.
Ā For her Maternity Photoshoot Baby J wore an All Denim Ensemble that we made together!!! The skirt was made using the Circle Skirt Formula and used about 6 yards of White Denim, the remaining fabric was stitched to form her sash that doubles as a tie up top. We custom dyed both pieces to give her the look she wanted. Ā When I make this again I will use deeper colors and go for the sunset effect. Ā But these Pastels worked perfect for Welcoming New Life. I am actually pretty pleased with the Final Look as this was only my 2nd time Tye Dying anything.

I canāt believe itās been so long since I had the chance to update and check in with all of you via this platformā¦luckily today I have a few moments with which Iāll catch you guys up on whats been going on my life and with TMD
Mid October we were Blessed to Purchase and move into our 1st and what we hope will be our Forever Home! It sits in quiet New Orleans Subdivision along Lake Catherine and itās Beautiful! I wake up most mornings to the sound of Ducks splashing in the water and some of the most Amazing Sunrises Iāve ever seen!
October kicked off what would be a few months of non stop activity!! Beginning with Sauni and Yim saying their I Doās in a Wonderful ceremony at this Swanky Venue .
Shortly after this I was Honored to create for one of the Most Talented Artists to call New Orleans home Ms Casmeā!!!!! Ā We wanted something that would capture her very essence. Filled with light and movement and wouldnāt get in the way when it was time for her to sing. Ā This luxe sequin adjustable wrap belt was what we came up with and it worked perfectly!
Michael ,Myself and a few of our friends had the Pleasure of attending her Birthday Celebration and of course we took several photos on the Funkadelic Red Carpet!

The Holidays were great, Baby J aka Jordan informed us we were to be grandparents and though totally unexpected Iām quite excited . Ā My Older sister and her family spent Christmas with us and we celebrated Raelynās 1st Birthday.
Iāll be Honest, this new house has left me with very little time to sew, itās been one DIY after anotherā¦That and well I have a Job that getās a big chunk of my time .
With the Onset of 2019 I vowed to create just a few looks to keep the creativity flowing and not let this skills get rusty,lol Soooo I made my very 1st Fur Vestā¦it was actually my 1st Fur anything!!! And there was fur everywhere ,lol Ā I did learn quite a bit with this project though..cut only thru the backing and lay tape along the cut lines to hold loose fur. I practiced draping and even played with some cheetah print!
The end of January saw an updated version of Vogue 9253 , I used Faux Leather and added elastic to the sleeves for a more sophisticated look. Ā Chalena was the perfect Model for this look giving it a lil extra Glam!

Now that Iām finally recovered from what was an Amazing Fun Filled Birthday Weekend Iām ready to usher in FAll and all of itās charms.
But 1st let me give you the deets on the Birthday Shenanigansā¦1st My Sister drove here with my niece in tow and we began Celebrating Friday evening with diner at a local spot and followed that up with Beignets and stroll thru City Park. Saturday morning was kicked off with a trip to Daddyās Doughnuts, shoe shopping for Morgan, Brunch atĀ Bittersweet Confections (their Gouda Grits were absolutely Blissful)https://www.bittersweetconfections.com/Ā A trip to the Childrenās Museum to Celebrate my Nephew Paxton turning 3 ( he and I share a Birthday) rounding out the day with a Burlesque show and some dancing at Berthaās!!! I still canāt believe Golden got me to go to a Club, Happy to Say Iāve Still āGot ItāĀ
Sunday got off too a Lazy start but ended up with a bang!! We walked the French Quarter and had lunch, Samantha and Morgan both tried Oysters in the half shell ..Yucky,lol
Then we went to a Saints party and later that night a Concert where CasmeĀ Ā https://www.instagram.com/iamcasme/?hl=enĀ Performed and even let me come on stage!! Casmeā is a Premier vocalist whoās soulful voice just takes you on a journey to a time when life was simpler and yet more meaningful. It was truly an honor to see /hear her perform once again.Ā
And now on to Fall..this to me is the Season of Love..the temperature just makes you want to be close..the heat of the Summer is waning and the cold hasnāt quite come in yet..and the colorsā¦warm and inviting..yes..Fall is definitely the Season of love
This is when you get to bring out your long dusters and and lightweight jackets and boots that you got at the end of the season last year that have been dying to be worn.
Iām working on some new silhouettes for fall that really hug the curves and play off the features that I think often get overlooked by most fashion trends. I want to spotlight the Collarbone and the wrists. Sooo Iām going to be experimenting with open necklines and sleeves with loads of drama

Ā Where does all my time goā¦. the true Answer is that I have Absolutely NOOOOOO Idea!!! And Iām totally okay with that!!! I mean ā¦I wake up and literally 75% of the time I have no idea what Iām going to make/do that day.
Sooo about a week ago on one of those unplanned days I was scrolling facebook and came across one of my Sew Sisters in a Denim Apron that was to die for!!! And I knew I just had to have one..like Literally! And in that moment I began scouring the closets for jeans that I could deconstruct and turn into my little bit of Denim Fashion Heaven. And I found them ā¦3 pair to be exact . 1 from each of my Gyrls and 1 from my personal statsh. And they worked PerfectlyĆā„ā„ā„ā„ Ā I cut them things up sooo fast and turned them into whatās probably 1 of the Favorite things in my Closet..I canāt wait till the right Opportunity to wear such a piece comes about. Imma let yall see all this extra-ness!!!!
What elseā¦. Ohhhhh I got a Job!!! I know some of you might remember the Tuesday Morning attempt a few years ago that lasted not quite a week ..well Iām happy to say that this New Job is totally Perfect for Me!! I get to keep my easy mornings ( I go in at 11) and I spend the day with one of my Favorite thingsā¦FABRIC!!!!! Itās a Home Decor Fabric Store and affords me the opportunity to help others bring the rooms of their dreams into reality. Opulent draperies and wall tapestries galoreā¦silksā¦furs..brocades..oh I just Love It!!! If youāre in the New Orleans area you must stop by, ArteeĀ“ Farics and Home on N Arnault Dr. ! And although I absolutely Love and Adore my Ankara fabrics ..I think itās time for me to revisit Silks! Ā Iāve always enjoyed the feel of a well made silk taffeta skirt and I think there is something awesome about taking a textile that not necessarily meant for this type of Fashion and turning it into a wearable piece of Art. The fabric has such a fine weave yet the fibers are strong and allow for maximum volume and it catches the light giving off an almost iridescent tonality and such Ā high-end styling. Itās definitely a material that shouldnāt be ruled out when looking for your next Ball Skirt.
Whewā¦ that was a lot and like alwaysā¦itās 0930 and Iāve been up since 0530 and so farā¦other than this Blog post, dishes and some laundry..I am still no closer to knowing where my time goesā¦ I can however tell you thisā¦ I spend it with some Amazing People!! Some real Movers and Shakersā¦ Models, actresses, Singers and other Creatives as well as My Day 1 Crew of Michael,Jordan & Jayni. I drink Amazing Coffees and Wines and Dine in some of the Finest Hole in the Wall Establishments. Life is Great..Sure there are a few things I want to change but Overall the closer I get to this 39th Birthday I am realizing that sometimes being able to LIVE in an uplanned, unscripted moment is the Absolute Best Use of our Time.
Ā Where does all my timeĀ goā¦. Where does all my time go.... the true Answer is that I have Absolutely NOOOOOO Idea!!! And I'm totally okay with that!!!
OMGā¦.My Baby is back in school and the days are soooo long without herā¦.Luckily I have Jordan home to provide moments of āGirl talkā which usually includes a trip to a local lunch spot and to help keep me focused on the multitude of things that I always seem to have going on.
I definitely hit the Daughter Jackpot with these 2!!! I mean if youāve met them then you know they are pretty and Pretty Amazing!!!
Anywhooā¦.with Jayni back in school that has also given me a little more time to catch up on some of the Sewing projects that have been just sitting in the que for the last couple of months. Sometimes I get so focused on completing things for others (Iām not complaining) that I forget to just sew for Funā¦ itās always important to not loose sight of why you started doing something in the 1st place. Itās kinda like anything else in life youāve got to nurture it and keep the spark! My spark is definitely lit baby!!!
I finally completed the bird duster which was supposed to be for me but fits Jayni perfectly!! So I guess Iāll have to make me another one.. Too bad this fabric is gone cause I certainly wanted it for myself,lol
I was able to complete a few items for Aunt Deborah in the midst of all the chaos that Iām pretty sure sheāll like. I am sooo excited to get pics of her and DeAnna!! Iām like a kid waiting on Christmas,lol
Letās see what elseā¦..Baby J..aka Siddity Jā¦aka Jor-Dan will be 19 this Friday!!!! I am so excited!! We havenāt given her a party in awhile so this should be FUN!Ā Just a small gathering with a few of her friends and CAKE cause We LOVE Cake in this Family!!!
