When Goblin Locksmith said he would get your door open, he never guaranteed that the door would be in one piece when he was done.

Dark Sage
————————————————
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand or Deck) by Tributing 1 “Dark Magician” immediately after applying the effect of “Time Wizard” in which you called the coin toss right. When Special Summoned this way: Add 1 Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
————————————————
Can Be Found In: Dark Beginning 1 (DB1-EN096), Dawn of Destiny Promo (DOD-EN002)
“Dark Magician” is with no doubt the most supported monster in the game. This makes him have various forms he can turn into, and first he could turn was “Dark Sage”.
Getting “Dark Magician” and “Time Wizard” on the field is not a hard task nowadays. As both being Spellcasters, they can be quickly summoned by multiple ways, like using “Ancient Rules”, “Temperance of Prophecy”, and “Apprentice Magician”. The hardest part is the fact we’re betting all in a coin toss, which if fails we will lose our setup, and receive a minimum of 1500 damage.
For reduce the loss “Time Wizard” can make, we’ll need backup.“Second Coin Toss” is a must in the deck for have another chance in case of failure, while “Defender, the Magical Knight” will save either “Dark Magician” or “Time Wizard”, unless you give him more Spell Counters.
If we succeed with the coin toss, all was worth it. You will destroy all the opponent’s monsters, and “Dark Magician” will turn into “Dark Sage”. What really makes the sage a threat is not having excellent stats, is the fact we can pick any Spell Card directly from the deck when is summoned. The possibilities are infinite, as we can pick “Monster Reborn” for bring back his young self, or “Heavy Storm” for completely clean the opponent’s field.
Keep in mind that “Dark Sage” can be summoned directly from the Deck. This makes him a complete dead draw, and we don’t want him in the hand, not because the space is taking can be for another card, but can be victim of hand disruption cards the opponent might play. The best way to fix this, is to play the spell cards “Lighten the Load” and “Card Trader”, which will return “Dark Sage” to the deck and drawing another card, and even we can use “Dark Magician” with these cards if we already have the strategy running.
“Dark Sage” is overall a “High Risk, High Reward” monster. We’re betting the entire duel in a single coin toss, which can give us victory or a big loss. The entire deck has to play an already delicate strategy very cautious, and once it succeeds, makes it memorable.
