Alura could feel the shift not only in her body but her mind. The pain subsiding in her back but also.. the guilt and anxiety seeming to sink into the background as her focus was purely on Lucio. The way his lips would curl into a wide grin at her response. Her eyes would widen only slightly but it was clear he would hold her whole, undivided attention. The unnatural point of his teeth so vividly pronounced in the lighting and expression mixed with the tint of red in his eyes.
Soft plump lips would part with an exhale- not responding right away to his question as she was lost in the moment admiring him. The way her mind seemed to still the second her attention focused on him was like night and day. Eventually a slow blink would break her warm gaze. “Oh?” She’d realize she hadn’t replied, “yeah, kinda hard for me not to.” Alura was almost certain if she could pick up on him so easily, surely it was the same on his end.
Eyes would follow him as his thighs brushed against the edge of the bed- her fingers twitched at just how close he suddenly had gotten. Alura would listen to him obediently she’d look away from him as her eyes fixated on the wall directly in front of her. His words reached her ears as if he was speaking a spell- everything basically confirmed her suspicions that something was indeed not normal about him.
It’d help if she understood just exactly what he was and how his strangeness worked. Based on looks alone.. well, he was pretty enough to be a fairy but those teeth.. her eyes would look back up at him and squint as she tried to figure it out. Either way, she wasn’t in any position to deny him or any help she could get. Alura was a people pleaser through and if she could make it easier for him- if he really wanted to help her, then she would listen.
“Okay.” It’d come out breathy, a slight tone of defeat but not ungrateful or of complaint. She’d look between him and Emily as her expression softened, body relaxing the more they spoke while the pain faded. “Umm..” she’d genuinely try to think. When was the last time someone offered to cook for her? Alura would typically avoid situations like this but it brought up tension in her chest. Most of the time she got fast food or snacks from the gas station so this.. she wasn’t exactly sure. “I don’t know.. breakfast?” She wasn’t ready to admit that she lived off hot tea and powdered donuts but really she’d eat anything. Although, she wasn’t ready sure he wouldn’t take that for an answer.
“Waffles, bacon?” Specifically waffles soaked in syrup and butter. Her brows were furrowed as she spoke- really trying to give him an answer she’d think he’d be pleased with. Alura didn’t like asking for things- especially from a stranger she already inconvenienced 100 times more than she would’ve liked.
“Thank you.. Mister Fai- Mr. Sinclair and thank you Emily.”
He doesn't draw attention to her staring, it was a completely natural response for humans who'd never encountered something like him before. She would find that in the absence of him saying anything, she is rewarded with a subtle wave of warmth. A calming pleasure seeping through her skin when she looks at him. Humans were so much more pliable when they associated you with such lovely feelings, weren't they?
The subtle spell ebbs and flows as her eyes shift away from him and back again. The more relaxed she is, the more open she feels to him, the more he rewards her with that cozy feeling. He is safe, this room is home, and this bed was so comfortable, wasn't it?
Her request is hesitant but both Emily and Lucio nod to it. Emily could do breakfast. Waffles and bacon specifically? Well. The girl had to have more than just fatty meats and carbs. But she has at least a small idea of some things to buy along with the rest of the meal planning. Lucio didn't eat much normal food and she usually ate at home, but... this girl would really need some caring for.
"Aheh," He breathes with amusement, " 'Mr. Sinclaire'. Such formalities won't be necessary. 'Lucio' suits me just fine."
With that, his torso turns just barely to Emily.
"Straight there and back, yeah? I can move her myself for the time being should the need arise. Take my card- buy what you think is suitable."
Emily nods slightly before approaching the girl's bedside next to him.
"You don't gotta thank me," She smiles, "You just rest up, I'll be back as soon as I can and we'll have breakfast, kay?"
And with that, Emily leaves the room and can be heard shuffling around some things. Looking for his wallet and keys no doubt. He never leaves them where they're supposed to go.
Lucio's attention shifts from the door back to the girl.
"Looks like it'll just be you and me for a bit, hm?"
He plops down ass first into the seat Emily had so generously left for him by her bedside.
"In the meantime, you never did tell me your name. Why don't we start there?"
Alura would pick up on it immediately- the rise and fall of the pleasant feeling. Her eyes eventually would never leave him, resting on his face- or more so those teeth peeking through his perfect lips. There wasn’t any attempt of her trying to fight it either, feeling Lucio’s hands creeping into the depths of her mind- cupping it gently like water. It wasn’t threatening, he meant her no harm and she began to fall victim to the thought that maybe it was alright she was here. Maybe she wasn’t a burden.
“Lucio.” She’d repeat slowly as if breathing a spell. What a pretty name for someone like him. It fit his face perfectly. “Lucio Sinclair.” She’d say it again out loud as if trying to engrave it in her mind not to call him a fairy- for all she knows he could take it as an insult.
Alura would give Emily a small nod, her gaze flickering in her direction just enough to her face in her peripheral but never fully leaving Lucio’s view. “Mmkay.” She’d agree rather easily. Actively turning into putty in the vampires hands- mailable and easy. She wasn’t fighting their offers anymore and there was no desire to leave. The sound of Emily’s footsteps leaving and the rustling of her trying to find his keys- this was still all so strange but it didn’t feel like something she had to hide from.
Just the two of them? Alura could already begin to assume he was going to question her- he deserved at lease some answers anyway for all his trouble. Why were people after her? The obvious glowing from the open wounds in her skin-
The glowing.
It was only now her eyes would pull away from him and stare at the back of her hand. The small cuts from the glass, sparkling like golden impurities amongst soft skin. The realization that there wasn’t any hope in hiding anything hit her- she knew the more she tried, the more questions would linger in the air. She’d let out a small, “hm..” as she exhaled.
Her attention would be brought back up to Lucio as he plopped down suddenly in the chair. Although she was expecting some sort of interrogation, this was a lot less intense than she was expecting. Had she really failed to introduce herself? Now she was just plain rude. “I’m sorry. It’s nice to meet you.” She’d apologize as if trying to make up for the late introduction- although it was a bit odd to do so given the circumstances. “I’m Alura Ásatrú.” It was simple enough answer but she’d add, “like the religion.” Ever since she was little she always found it humerus that her last name was literally the religion her people represented- she represented.

a mix of arguments, tension, manipulation, gossiping, fighting, & general emotional messiness!
you weren't supposed to hear that.
don't look at me like i'm the only one lying.
want to tell them, or should i?
you think i don't know what you did?
i've hit people for less.
oh, i thought you already knew.
that's funny, you didn't say that last night.
say that again. i dare you.
you wanna talk about loyalty?
no offense, but if you're the last to know, that's on you.
go ahead - pretend like it wasn't your idea!
they deserve to know the truth.
you didn't hear this from me, but -
oh, so now you care?
don't flatter yourself. you were just convenient.
you crossed a line.
we had bets on how long it would last.
it's not even a secret anymore.
you don't get to cry about it now.
touch me again and see what happens.
say it again. louder this time.
you really thought nobody would find out?
don't act so innocent.
okay, but am i the villain for laughing?
tell me who else knows. right now.
this whole time, and you didn't say a word?
don't act brave now.
you're really gonna do this here?
it wasn't supposed to get this far!
you can't rewrite history.
oh, i'd never say it to their faces.
it was supposed to stay between us.
we're all thinking it, i just said it.
you're not as untouchable as you act.
do you even feel guilty?
they warned me about you.
go ahead, make it worse.
if you repeat this, i'll deny everything.
the next thing out of your mouth better be an apology.
you're about three seconds away from regretting this.
you keep pushing, and i'll push you back.
they're going to find out.
one more lie, and i walk.
they're lying to you.
you need to back off. now.
you're defending them? after everything?
don't try to hide it.
tell me, was i just a placeholder?
you really think sorry fixes this?
there's nothing left to say.
don't act like you're the one hurting.
i don't owe you any explanation.
whatever helps you sleep at night.
you should've seen this coming.
i hope it was worth it.
i told the truth. just not all of it.
you'll miss me before i miss you.
smile. you're ruining the mood.
i'd watch that tone if i were you.
it's not my fault you believed me.
you have such a talent for pretending you're innocent.
we both know this is over.
i never said i was a good person.
i thought you were different.
Golden hues met his and it filled her with a warmth much similar to the kind she naturally gave off. Even if it was subtle, he still carried this divine aura about him. The kind that slowly seeped into your lungs almost unnoticed. She had missed him- missed him more than she had realized until this very moment. Despite her constantly creating distance, she craved closeness even more. Alura wanted to be around him more but he was doing so well and didn’t need her chaotic way of living dragging him down. He had a steady job, a place to live, and was a functioning member of society. Her on the other hand.. well, she was still borderline homeless and still hanging around the sketchy parts of town.
When he took the bag from her, her eyes followed his movements- or more so, his face. It was hard to read exactly what he was thinking and the smell of coffee only hindered her ability to decipher him. He always kept things so neat and every time she’d visit, it’d always smell so lovely inside. Her attention would turn to the coffee still sitting on the burner. She already knew were the mugs were and the sugar- as if she had lived here all her life. Yet, she made no attempt to move towards the cabinet. Instead, she’d set her small backpack down on one of the chairs before turning back to face Felix.
Alura already knew he was going to question her- she learned early on that nothing slipped past him. In this case she figured it’d be easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. She wasn’t anxious and he already knew how back and forth she could be with sharing information- instead of her retreating from his questioning, she seemed almost unnaturally relaxed. “It’s not like I didn’t want to call you. It’s more like I couldn’t. There’s no cell towers.” There wasn’t anything at all.
She’d let out a soft sigh, tilting her head and looking down at the floor. His question repeated in her head ‘was it worth it?’ The answer wasn’t that simple of an answer. There would be a moment of silence and he could see the gears turning in her head. “No.. not really but it was better than you coming with.” She’d then stretch her arms above her head, exposing the lower part of her stomach with a dramatic yawn. In one swift motion she’d walk towards him and wrap her arms around his torso. “I assume you’re dying to ask where I went? What did I do? Why’d I leave for so long?” There was a lightness to her tone. Slightly teasing but serious enough so he knew she wasn’t just brushing him off.
Her arms would squeeze him close and she’d nuzzle her face into his chest like a cat- playful but more so to fuel her overwhelming need for affection without it being too romantic. She still wasn’t ready to submit or admit to those sort of feelings- at least, not knowingly. “Go on, I’ll answer yes or no questions.”
Felix instinctively stiffened for a fraction of a second when Alura wrapped her arms around him, his body still adjusting to casual physical affection despite the many months they'd known each other. He relaxed almost as quickly, his arms coming to rest tentatively around her shoulders. The familiar warmth of her presence filled the small space between them, and for a moment, he allowed himself to simply absorb it—the scent of her hair, the soft press of her cheek against his chest, the gentle rhythm of her breathing.
He traced absent patterns on her back as he considered her offer. Yes or no questions. It was a clever way to control the narrative while still appearing transparent. Classic Alura. Still, he couldn't deny the relief that washed over him at her return, the way the apartment suddenly felt more complete with her in it, as if some missing piece had slotted back into place.
"No cell towers, huh?" he murmured against her hair, his voice softer than he intended. "That sounds... remote." He paused, choosing his next question carefully. "Were you alone?"
The question was simple on the surface, but they both understood its deeper meaning. Felix wasn't just asking about her physical solitude; he was probing at the patterns of behavior that kept pulling her away from him, from the stability they could potentially build together. He needed to know if this was another one of her self-imposed exiles or if something—or someone—else had been involved.
He pulled back, just enough to see her face, his hands still resting on her shoulders. "Did you leave because of me? Because you thought I was doing too well and didn't need you around anymore?"
The question was more direct than he'd intended, but the weeks of silence had worn down his usual defences. He needed to understand what had driven her away, whether it was something he'd done or failed to do, or if it was simply Alura being Alura—always running, never staying in one place for too long, even when that place might be exactly where she needed to be.
He gently stroked the fabric of her shirt as he waited for her answer, his gray eyes searching hers for any hint of the truth behind her carefully constructed responses. Whatever she said, he knew it would only be part of the story—Alura never gave away everything at once. But perhaps, just perhaps, it would be enough to bridge the distance that had grown between them during her absence.
Alura missed him so much it caused a deep ache in her chest. Her arms would hold him tightly- as if she was scared to let go. She didn’t want to keep leaving him like she had but it was simply part of her nature now. Still, if Felix really had asked her to stay, she’d never leave. Whether she was aware of it or not, Alura would do anything for him and had grown to care for him very deeply- to the point where she was willing to stay put if it meant he’d be happier.
The brunette would press her whole body into him as she felt him gently hold her back, the small circles he traced. His first question was met with a shake of her head, there wasn’t hesitation behind it but she did decide to offer an explanation. “Yes, I couldn’t find who I was looking for.” Which was true but would likely only raise more questions. Alura did have a tendency to self isolate and keep her distance but this situation was.. different entirely. She could already tell what he was getting at but it wasn’t one of her disappearing acts.
As he pulled away and looked down at her, she could see the expression on his face. His question would cause her brows to furrow slightly and a look of concern to cover her features. “What? No. No..” she shook her head as her eyes closed tightly for a moment. She didn’t plan on sharing any detail but she had no idea Felix was blaming himself for her absence. “It was never because of you. You could never do any wrong, Felix.” Her eyes would meet his again and she looked sorry. She never intended to make him question himself like that. “Did you really think it was because of you?”
The walls would quickly fall as she would reach a hand up to cup his cheek. “I went to my home town.” The confession was like a weighted blanket that piled on her chest. It was uncomfortable to admit but it was the truth. “I haven’t been since.. well since the last time I was there.” It was similar to going to a cemetery but instead there were no headstones- it was simply the fact that everyone had died there. Even the ash had long been taken by the wind. “I also went to find the person that knows more about.. well, my existence but no luck there.” She was still sure he’d have more questions but she tried to answer the obvious ones as best she could. More importantly, she didn’t want him blaming himself for anything she’d done.
“I’m sorry I made you feel that way. It’s never been because of you.” She’d pull her hands away from him as they fell to her sides. Alura would stand still and just stare up at him- a slight upset pout reached her lips. There wasn’t nt any anger or foul emotions stewing inside her, it was mainly apologetic and sincere. “What was going through your head this whole time?”
I'd give you the upisde down cigarette in my pack
But your not enough of a dirt bag to understand
Recently, there had been some distance between Alura and Felix. The divide was natural, not forced but of course it was Alura’s doing. During the steady separation there was no grand gesture of confession or a huge falling out. Just as the sun rises, it also sets. Those days of sharing a bed in that small hotel room had passed months ago. Felix was busy working to get on his feet and Alura was busy.. well, who knew exactly what she was up to. The last thing she had mentioned before completely disappearing was that she was going on a trip and would be gone for a while- ‘a while’ as in three weeks without any contact or word of her whereabouts. One would think possibly she had been gone for good- moved towns again..
But she promised Felix she would be back. Much like her relationship with Xochitl, she’d eventually wonder back to something familiar and stay from time to time. Although, those visits were certainly more frequent when it came to Felix. Alura never admitted anything to him, never truly expressed how she felt towards him but the fact she could never stay away for too long was obvious enough. Which is why her being gone for so long would seem so out of the ordinary. Just what kind of trip had she gone on?
There was still some unspoken distance she was keeping between them. Though, the gap was very slowly closing as it had been from the first time they met. Anytime she was over, she never felt confined to the walls like she normally would. Felix was a safe place for her, a breath of fresh air.
Almost a month of radio silence from her and a vague explanation of her departure only for a small knock to be placed on Felix’s apartment door. Even if he had lost most of his angelic powers, he could probably still sense who it was on the other side of the door before he opened it. There she was, looking the same as she always had but perhaps a bit more tired from whatever adventure she had been on. She had her small backpack on her back and a plastic bag with items in which looked like she bought on the way there. Her eyes instantly lit up with seeing him and she’d look up at him. If she hadn’t had so much in her hands she would’ve hugged him instantly but alas she was confined to the bags of snacks.
“I told you I’d be back.”
Felix felt a familiar warmth spread through his chest as he opened the door to find Alura standing there, just as she'd promised. Despite the weeks of silence that had stretched between them like a vast ocean, his first instinct wasn't anger or frustration, but relief. He could sense her presence even before his eyes confirmed it—a subtle energy that still resonated with his celestial origins, though now muted and distant like a star seen through heavy fog.
His gaze softened as he took in her appearance—the slight exhaustion shadowing her eyes, the way she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the plastic bag crinkling as she adjusted her grip. There was so much he wanted to ask—where she'd been, why she'd been gone so long, why she hadn't at least called—but all those questions dissolved in the simple fact of her return.
A small, genuine smile touched Felix's lips as he stepped aside, gesturing for her to enter. "I never doubted you would be," he replied. "Though I might have started to worry after week three." He reached for the bag in her hands. "Let me help you with that." As he took the bag from her, he caught sight of the contents—snacks, mostly, and a few other small items. It was so typically Alura, to return with provisions rather than explanations.
"Coffee's still fresh, and there's bread if you're hungry." He watched her for a moment, his expression unreadable but not unkind. "So," he added after a pause, "was this trip worth the radio silence?"
The question hung between them. Not accusatory, but curious. Felix had learned that pushing Alura for answers was like trying to cup water in his hands; the tighter he held on, the faster it slipped through his fingers. Still, he couldn't help but wonder what had kept her away for so long this time, and whether she'd ever see him as more than just a safe harbor to return to between her adventures.
Golden hues met his and it filled her with a warmth much similar to the kind she naturally gave off. Even if it was subtle, he still carried this divine aura about him. The kind that slowly seeped into your lungs almost unnoticed. She had missed him- missed him more than she had realized until this very moment. Felix stood in the warm, honey-gold light of the kitchen, humming softly to himself as he wiped down the counter. The domesticity of it all still felt like a dream sometimes - this simple, quiet life he'd somehow carved out for himself on the mortal plane. He moved with practiced grace, his lean frame clad in a soft gray t-shirt that hugged his shoulders in a way that would have been scandalous in his previous life.
He reached across the counter to grab a stray mug, the hem of his shirt riding up slightly, revealing the scars that marred the skin of his lower back. They were the only remnants of the wings that had once been his pride, now they were just jagged lines that sometimes ached with phantom pain when the weather changed.
He paused to trace his fingers absently over the scar tissue through the fabric of his shirt. For a moment, his expression grew distant, remembering the excruciating pain of having them torn away, the fall that had shattered everything he'd ever known. But then he shook his head and pushed away the memories as he turned back to his task.
The scent of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, mingled with the sweet aroma of the coffee he'd just brewed. It was these simple pleasures that grounded him, these sensory experiences that reminded him he was still here, breathing, and capable of finding joy in a world that had once seemed so foreign and frightening.
He arranged the last few items on the counter with a satisfied nod, turning to survey his domain. This kitchen, this small apartment, this life - they were his now, purchased with nothing but hard work and determination. No divine powers, no celestial connections, just a fallen angel learning to be human.
With a soft sigh, Felix leaned against the counter, closing his eyes for a moment as he soaked in the peace of the morning. It was in moments like these that he felt most content, most whole despite the missing pieces of himself. The scars on his back might be permanent, but they no longer defined him. He was Felix now, just Felix, and that was more than enough.

Alura would order a drink and stir it with her straw absentmindedly before her attention was drawn to two guys next to her. One was rather outgoing- noticing the tint of his hair and how he easily got the bar tender's attention. She'd notice his outfit and how similarly to her- it was clear this wasn't his usual scene. His interaction with his friend made her grin slightly, suddenly forgetting all about her own circumstances.
His friend, looked a lot more like he belonged here. His dark hair, clothes and even demeanor. Taking a sip of her cocktail. Eyes would remain on her drink while she tried not to stare or eavesdrop too much. Head would turn to look at them, however, when the red head would leave the other. Alura would glance between them a bit confused and she'd hesitate.
As much as she didn't necessarily mind being alone- she wasn't sure how the guy sitting next to her would feel about being in this environment alone. Out of concern for him, she'd slide to the seat next to his. The brunette would then grab her drink and gently clink it against his.
"Cheers to being ditched?"
Voice would come out gentle- hesitant as if she was testing the waters on how he'd react. The air around her was instantly warm and she smelled of coconut. Demeanor was light and kind-definitely not seeming as if she belonged here. Her makeup and outfit contradicting the warmth she gave off and her soft features.
Alura would glance between Kohaku and the fridge as he spoke. She knew how expensive that sort of stuff could be- especially seafood. Since he so graciously invited her to stay with them, it only made sense for her to pull her own weight and then some. This was all temporary after all. At least until things at the hotel calmed down or she decided to hop towns again. This wouldn’t last forever.. or so she’d tell herself.
Her eyes would follow Leehan as he walked towards the kitchen- listening to Kohaku as he spoke. “I really don’t mind it’s just.. a lot.” She’d admit letting out a small sigh. She had hinted slightly at the fact she’s never decorated before but it was also she couldn’t remember the last time she actually stayed with someone else. If it wasn’t for the snow storm this likely wouldn’t have happened at all.
“I’ll stick to getting food for now and give you two some time to.. sort things out.” She was still unsure how Leehan felt about it all. She essentially was taking over Kohaku’s room and in turn Leehan was losing his privacy as well. Perhaps she could talk to him about it later on.
Alura would then walk towards pick up her bag, putting it on her back and sitting down to slip her boots back on. There was still a good few feet of snow outside but it wasn’t anything that’s typically bother her. “Is there anything specific I should pick up?”
but verily, it be the nature of dreams to end
