Can we get the parents friends reaction to Spanners choice to try and destroy all the chemies and therefore force him and Houtaro to fight?

Also I like that despite the fact the show writers just use him as a chew toy in terms of fighting apart from the one fight he got his true Rider powers (ironically the fight is in the episode where we first see Lachesis really question who she is and what she wants), Spanner has been mostly consistent in his character even with limited development. Like it is probably a bad idea, but it’s one that in character especially since his only major character development is him dealing with with his parents death, not his relationships to the others (which the chemies can effect). Also in a weird way the next episode demonstrates some real loyalty from MachWheel to support Spanner in his quest.

Well, the parent friends may see some logic in his actions, but they would most definitely disapprove of his methods.

It is understandable that Spanner would not want that kind of power falling into the wrong hands. If these were just your run-of-the-mill transformation trinkets with no sentient creature connected to them (e.g. the Full Bottle) then perhaps they'd be ok destroying them or sealing them away or something. But the Chemmies ARE living, breathing and sentient creatures, which makes all the difference.

That said, this is consistent with Spanner's characterization, and is something they've been building up to, though tbh I was hoping he'd settle for sealing them away. It's also consistent with his lack of faith in Houtaro's methods. And I suppose Kyoka being attacked triggered him about his parents' deaths which is why he's using that as his rationalization for all this.

Though I do suspect that it has to more to do with his complicated feelings over the Chemmies and his (one-sided) rivalry with Houtaro than anything.

Honestly? I don't think he wants the Chemmies dead. Otherwise he wouldn't have acted the way he did when Hopper-1 died. He just deluded himself into thinking it's the only way to keep their power out of the wrong hands.

That said, it does not change the fact that he is being utterly stupid. Houtaro's face in the preview really says it all: "You seriously cannot be deciding to pull this dumb shit NOW of all times."

Hmm, good point about Mad/MachWheel. I wonder if part of Houtaro's beating sense into him will involve pointing this out to him.
