“Nicht so schlecht (not too bad) not bad at all, but really who would have guessed that the Seventh Child had any musical talent. I wouldn’t have thought you were the type.” The redhead declares revealing her presence, she had paused for a moment to listen before speaking. She knows that the Fifth taught Shinji to play the piano, so maybe she shouldn’t be so surprised that Maeko also had some musical talent.

“Of course I have a musical talent,” the angel interjected. “It is the one thing that keeps me from acting rashly these days.” Maeko let the last chord ring out from the piano before pulling the fallboard over the keys. For a moment, they sat there in silence. They were supposed to feel somewhat annoyed by Asuka’s presence. It always just seemed to bring out the worst in them. But, this was... different. Unlike most times, the redhead felt genuine in her approach. Nothing to say to belittle or lord over the Seventh Child, it was a genuine compliment. Their steely eyes softened as they slowly rose from the bench. They had nothing nice to say... but they had nothing mean to say, either. “...”

The angel eyed Jeanne up and down. Well, Maeko supposed that made the two of them. Being on good terms with Otto didn't automatically guarantee that she'd be all buddy-buddy with the knight.

"Admittedly, I have no idea how to talk to you, either."

As Maeko eyed Jeanne, the knight in turn continued to stare at the angel. Her golden eyes showing her the truth. She may be on good terms with Otto but that didn’t automatically mean she wasn’t an extinction level threat,

“I guess I’ll keep it simple then. So long as you behave yourself and act like a good little angel, we’re golden. But the second you try anything that looks even remotely similar to an impact...you’re mine got it?”

Olive spits the egg she found out and pouts at her father, “Hmmph!”

Otto turns back and smiles, “But sometimes they’re filled with candy too.”

The angel held out a colored egg. Pastel hues danced all over the shell while some of it spilled onto Maeko's palm. Cracking it open, the hard boiled whites and yolk spilled onto the ground.

"I thought most eggs, had... egg inside of them," she replied with a raised eyebrow.

Maeko groaned as they reached for their phone. A picture of the black haired boy popped up as it vibrated. Swiping the green answer button, they held the phone to their ear.

"Hello? This is Maeko Nagisa."

Flushed with a sudden mix of embarrassment and rage, Ness felt his face go hot at the mere mention of his accursed name. To say it wasn’t a common occurrence for it to be shared was an understatement - he loathed the name, to the point he tried to bury any mention of it behind a flurry of harsh words, and, to an extent, denial. Henessey had always sounded too pretentious - it didn’t fit him, not at all! Narrowing his eyes, the psychic turned away.

“Who the crap told you that was my name?” He growled out, agitatedly wringing his hands and staring at a few stray sparks that drifted from them.  “Listen. My mother has awful tastes in names, and that’s all you need to know. I haven’t spent this much of my life going by ‘Ness’ to have that brought up, get it?”

He never had asked her why she had named him that, come to think of it...

Maeko's expression remained unchanged as they looked down at the boy's sparkling hands, PSI flickering between his fingers. They sucked in their teeth while they thought of their next words carefully. Knowing what he was capable of... anyone would do what the Seventh Child was doing right now.

"Ask not of how I know your name," Maeko replied curtly, masking their fear. "At least I know not to call you that anymore."

Readjusting themselves, they rolled their shoulders and lifted their posture. Maeko pushed up her glasses from the edge of their nose as they eyed the psychic.

"Very well then, Ness Franklin."
