i think people are much too eager to blame matador for the gradual shift in tone of car seat headrest's albums, especially when teens of denial (the og) has some of the best of csh. there are many reasons why a band can change, and dogpiling onto other members or will's age and personality is highkey insensitive

i also think some fans are especially prone to jumping to personal attacks towards will toledo simply because they didn't like his recent lyricism. talking about some shit like he peaked at 17 or just being straight up gross about his age and character with a hint of homophobia.

i've also seen some people hopping onto some narrative of him supposedly "censoring" lyrics about queerness and of course, swears because of an incredibly tone deaf perceived "religious psychosis", which while i understand is unfortunately common in the climate we're in, is a disgusting reaction when you do not know this person or their life journey
