Recognition
The air in the room was cold, as if a gentle breeze had reached the place where they were from the bayou. Lucifer had opened his mouth at the same time to take a breath, and it was then when it hit him. Instinctively, his tongue came out to taste the air. Blood. Angelic particles. Rotten flesh.
Ah.
âHonestly, with what she said and considering how quickly you appeared after the battle, I assumed you had just ran away the moment your shield broke down. Any sinner with self-preservation skills would have, reallyâ the devil commented, body moving forwards and legs untangling so he could rest his arms over them. âBut you didnât run away, did you? You stayed and fought back. Or at least you did, until you got fatally injured.â
The Instatement of a Truce
The king was almost fuming, pen hitting aggressively the page of the notebook, but for some reason he didnât send the sinner away. For a moment, his eyes moved back and forwards between the paper and the messages in his phone, as if evaluating.
âDo youâŠâ he started, grinding his teeth. âDo you know how to put up a schedule?â
Alastor cackled.
âWho do you think keeps this place organized, Your Majesty? Making schedules to ensure everything goes smoothly is part of my job.â
The Darkness Within
Lucifer was barefoot in front of a broken mirror, two cut wings lying on the ground behind his back and his arms stretched up as if ready to remove a third. The Radio Demon moved as fast as during his battle with Adam, arms grabbing around Luciferâs and blocking his movements.
âPray tell, Your Majestyâ he said in irritation, âwhat the fuck are you doing?â
In times of darkness, asking for help is difficult for Lucifer. Loneliness is dreadful, but the fear of bother someone else with his problems can be too much. Sometimes, one just prefers to look for another out. To let go.
Thankfully, his existance is far too entertaining for Alastor to just allow him to disappear.
The Acknowledgement of a Feeling
The Radio Demon took one of Luciferâs hands in his and, bending at the waist in a formal gesture, placed a kiss over it.
âIt was a lovely evening, sireâ he said in a low voice that lacked most of its usual static. âWe shall see of repeating it soon. Thank you, and goodnight."
By the time he lifted his gaze, the king was a babbling mess, words getting caught in his throat and a golden flush covering his cheeks. What an interesting reaction!
Becoming Us
There it was; that look again. The same one that had started all this problem. Why would anybody look at the Radio Demon that way?
âI donât want anything to changeâ he admitted in the absence of a better argument.
âIt doesnât have toâ Lucifer declared.
And that was such a lie.
Because it already had. Their hands, joined together in the most simply form of contact without a barrier, was proof of that. And the worst part of it, perhaps, was that Alastor didnât really mind.
Defining This
Slowly, Alastor reached down to brush his own fingers in between the otherâs. The reaction was instantaneous, the king jumping in place, eyes wide as he turned to him. The Radio Demon retired his hand back in a flash, looking away.
âFuck, Alastor, Iâm sorryâ the other man said, his expression still slightly confused. âI was hyper-focused and I didnât expect you toâŠâ
Rolling his eyes, the sinner just shrugged, moving to settle his book on the coffee table, still not looking at the other man.
âItâs quite alright, sire.â
Stepping Out
âAre you sure?â
Look, it was not that Lucifer had doubts. He was, like, 1000% in. Ready to go out and present Alastor to all the Sins and demon royalty and all the souls in Hell and Heaven. He just also happened to want to give his guy the option to backout if he so much as had one doubt about this. If he had promised himself something when facing the chance of a relationship with the demon, was that he would be a good partner this time. Not clingy. Not over-enthusiastic. Not a burden. Not too-much.
âMy dear, take my hand or instead of interlacing our fingers, Iâll use mine to strangulate you."
The Devil Doesn't Bargain
âYou donât know him as I doâ he refuted.
âOh, Luci, stop trying to convince yourselfâ she continued. âHe is a ruthless sinner, not a Prince Charming. The Radio Demon is not the kind of man that settles, heâll break your heart and eat it afterwards. He is more the Devil than you are, and he doesnât bargain. You will never change him.â
Her voice was soft, accompanied by magic, and the moment he noticed her spell a spark of anger lit up a wildfire in him.
âI donât want to!â Lucifer exclaimed, breaking her magic and stepping out of the circle she had been pacing around. âThis may be news for you, Lils, but you can be in a relationship and not want to shape the other person in whatever you prefer. In fact, thatâs what it is about! Accepting the other person for who they are!â
Of Archangels and Second Chances
âAlastor, pleasure to make your acquaintance!â he introduced himself, his smile tightening. âOverlord and hotelier of the Hazbin Hotel, therefore my presence in this meeting. The letter reaching dear Charlotte here didnât stipulate any rule regarding who could or couldnât come, did it?â
âThatâs because we didnât think any sinner would be stupid enough to set a foot in the embassyâ Michael cruelly huffed. âTell me, how much is your skin burning at the moment?â
Charming, really. Alastor wanted to smack him in the face, and that was a sentiment only Vox managed to get out of him from time to time.
The Weird Concept of Time
âOh, I didnât peg our king as someone that cared for anniversaries, but it seems as I was wrong!â
At that, Alastor bent his head curiously to one side.
âAnniversary?â
âOf course, my dear! You said it yourself, didnât you? If heâs giving you these presents every few weeks, they are surely meant as anniversary gifts!â
Cautiously, the Radio Demon went over his mental calendar, checking the times at which Lucifer had appeared with one of his offerings. Always the same day, every month, as far as he could tell. Which, if he remembered corrected, was the same day that they had become⊠them.
âAhâ was all the eloquence that left his mouth.
Or
How was the Radio Demon supposed to know that a being older than time cared for anniversaries? Surely now he had to do something about it!
A Night to Remember
Dancing with Alastor was easy, fun to do in all the variations they had tried so far. This time was no different, of course. They almost flew over the dance floor, feet moving with confidence as they turned and risked difficult steps at the rhythm of the music. Slowly, the devil noticed how the other couples abandoned the floor, in a signal of respect or disagreement to the scene they had initiated, he didnât know. Nor did he care.
The murmurs persisted, though, making him frown. Didnât they hold any respect for their monarch anymore?
âWe can stop, Luciferâ the voice of Alastor said, no glimpse of his real feelings about the suggestion in it.
âI am not ashamed of us, Alâ he reminded the sinner, his hands squeezing softly as he smiled at him. âThey may speak as much as I let them, but it wonât change a thing. All of them? They are just jealous of what we found in each other, something so heavenly and out of the ordinary here in Hell. So, let them. Youâre my sanctuary, Al, thatâs all that matters to me.â
Or
It's time for a Royal Gala! Lots of new characters, fun interactions, some death threats, Blitz being Blitz... Endless entertainment, no doubt!
The Ugly Duckling
Looking down, the devil found himself holding an incredible thin book âalmost a magazine, reallyâ, with a baby swan drawn in the cover, looking lost in the green background. On top of it, in silver calligraphy, the title read: Den grimme ĂŠlling, written by H. C. Andersen.
âDid you⊠Did you seriously get me a childrenâs book, Al?â
Sure, it was about a duck âor that was what it looked likeâ, but⊠Really?
âI didâ the other man confessed, finally looking at him with an expression that lacked the expected mockery. âIt is a fairy tale from the nineteenth century, one that I think youâll find⊠Illuminating. If you havenât forgotten your Danish, that is.â
Or
Alastor did some study and decided to give Lucifer a very special book. The devil chooses to bite and read it, not expecting at all to be broken into pieces by the fairy tale. Fortunately, a certain Radio Demon is more than ready to remind him he is not alone.
Moving In
âWait, hold on, you want to get rid of my bed? Why?!â
âThat thing can barely be considered a bed, darling.â
âYou have slept on it several times! It is a bed!â the king complained. âAnd a damn adorable one, for that matter!â
âIt is also a disgrace for interior design. I refuse to make a permanent residence in a place with such a⊠thing in it.â
âFineâ the other man groaned. âCan I also veto things? Or itâs just a âyouâ privilege?â
Or
Perhaps it is time for Alastor and Lucifer to move in to the same room, don't you think?
Breaking Point
âShut up, Radio Demon.â
âAnd why should I? In fact, why donât we bring dear Charlotte in, hm? Iâm sure she will rejoice upon seeing this side of her father! Itâs not like you can disappoint her more, right?â
Alastor was being cruel now, he knew it, but the words kept leaving his lips without a second thought, looking to cut, to hurt. And, in exchange, he received the same treatment.
âAnd how disappointed would your mother be if she saw you now?â
Or
They argue about politics, things escalate and I'm very sorry if some of you cry(?)
A Pond of Your Own
Holding the bag of green peas, Luciferâs brain tried to process all the information while his fingers separated the small veggies. So, there was a new pocket dimension in their office. One that Alastor and Charlie had collaborated to create. As a Sinsmas present. And it looked just as the pond he had created in Eden. On top of that, twelve ducks inhabited it now. Real ducks. No demonic. Just⊠normal. His first creation.
The bag of peas made a âthudâ noise as it dropped to the floor. He turned to face Alastor, arms reaching up to grab the sides of his shirt.
âIâm going to kiss you now.â
Just as the warn left his lips, he pulled the sinner down and stretched up to reach his mouth, meeting him half way.
Or
It's Sinsmas time, Lucifer is close to a depressive episode and Alastor considers putting a little bit on effort in his present. After all, it's not like creating a new pocket dimension and gather some earthly ducks is so difficult...
Evening the Odds
âLetâs even the odds, hm?â he clacked, smiling at his shadow.
The creature stood tall behind him, urging him to walk to the mirror as the green sutures covering his mouth materialized for him to see. The tip of the knife caught behind the first string, tensing it as Alastor stretched it outwards. Parallel to his other attempts, the stitch tensed and pulled back, trying to keep his mouth shut. That was alright; pain was not new to him. He ignored the blood pouring from his lips, smile becoming wider as he saw the knife finally cutting through that first suture.
Or
Alastor is reminded of the deal for his soul and decides to get creative while testing its limits. Blood and pain ensue but, isn't that just part of the fun?
Dealing with the Consequences
âRemember, only an hourâ Lilith declared, only then considering Alastor. âYou will do as he says unless it enters in conflict with our deal. Aggression towards him is forbidden.â
Alastorâs expression broke, and he was so glad Vox was still behind him and could not see it. He opened his mouth to protest, but Lilith disappeared before he could. At his sides, hands became fists and he forced himself to take a deep breath before turning around to face his old friend.
âSo!â he beamed, smile intact. âWill you be so kind to tell me what my dear patron wanted from you?â
âHA! I think you donât understand the situation here, Alâ the other Overlord laughed. âI own you for the next hour, which means that I will be the one making the questions. Among other things, of course.â
Or
In order to get what she wants, Lilith lends Alastor's soul for an hour to Vox. The consequences of that are great, and Al is having trouble keeping the last bit of his sanity intact. Lucky for him, he is not alone.
Uncomfortable Conversations
âItâs just, I thought it was real? Or, well, I wanted to believe it, anyways, because youâyou are amazing, and all that.â
âLuciââ
âFuck, Iâm being an asshole, arenât I? You just explained how Lilith forced you into a deal and doing all these things and here I am justââ
âLucifer!â Alastor finally snapped, bending forwards and grabbing the angelâs face. âIt was real. It still is, if you agree to it. Lilith never had anything to do with my decisions regarding you.â
âOhâ was everything the king could say with his cheeks being pressed between the sinnerâs palms. âGood.â
Or
Alastor and Lucifer finally talk about the deal with Lilith, the king pays the former queen a visit, and Angel Dust is a good friend :)
To Choose Oneself
âBECAUSE THIS IS MY DOING!â Lucifer exclaimed, hands coming up to pull at his hair. âI was the one asking for more responsibilities, wanting to go back to all my duties and then some. I already said I would do it all, I canât justâŠâ
His voice broke as more tears fell down his cheeks, making him wonder if his immortality made him also have an endless tear deposit. It surely had felt like that for the last week.
In front of him, Lucifer saw the Radio Demon giving a step forwards, neck bent to one side in question.
âOh, but you can, my dearâ he declared, as if it was something evident. âNobody is going to force you to keep up with all your duties, less even when it is clear they are too many to be deal with by one person alone. Angel or not, everyone has a limit, Lucifer.â
Or
After months of dealing with too many responsabilities, Lucifer finally snaps, and Alastor is there to remind him he doesn't need to be perfect, or do everything alone.
Starting Over (but not at the beginning)
âI-I wanted to know if you could come with me to Sloth, but I saw you have a busy day, ha-ha!â he continued with a strained chuckle, being quickly to add: âNot that itâs a problem! I know how important all those things are, so, yeah, Iâll⊠Iâll just go by myself, yeah.â
âMm⊠Letâs see!â Alastor suddenly said, making him look up. With a snap of his fingers, the thick notebook calendar he used for organization appeared in his hands, and he opened it at the next day. âWell, I donât see the problem, darling! As it seems my whole day is free tomorrow!â
And just like that, the sinner teared the page from the notebook and made it burn in green flames. Another snap, and the whole thing was completely gone as Lucifer tried to recover proper function of his face.
âA-Alastor!â
Or
It's time for Lucifer to attend his appointment with Belphegor, and Alastor is there to give him the support he needs. Of course, while the king is at it, he needs to busy himself somehow... Fortunately, he hasn't had the opportunity to see a lot from Sloth before!
The Challenge of Communication
âI⊠awoke your sexual curiosity?!â
Alastor rolled his eyes. Of course that the embodiment of Pride would focus on that statement instead of on the rest of his carefully explained discourse.
âShit, sorry! Not the important part, yes, I know!â Lucifer exclaimed a moment after, face blushing. âSorryâ he added one more time. âOkay, uh⊠Okay. So, um, I have said this before, when we kind of tip-toed about the âsex thingâ before, but I will not do anything that you donât want. Not only in bed! Just⊠in general. And I will not take anything for granted, Al.â
âDuly noted and appreciated, darling.â
Or
Asmodeus offers some advice, Lucifer and Alastor finally have a highly needed conversation about sex, and Charlie steps up to help in his father's mental health.
Recovery Is Not a Straight Line
âWait, Al, youâre still entangledâ Lucifer warned, approaching slower now, hands up. âLet meââ
âDONâT TOUCH ME!â
He stopped dead as Alastor crawled backwards until he met the trunk of the tree behind him, eyes fixed on the ground. His legs came up to hide his face, buried between pointy knees, and hands embedded in red hair, pulling strands from it.
âAl, pleaseâ he begged. âPlease donât hurt yourself. I just want toââ
The static raised enough to drown his own voice, and Lucifer was unsure of what to do. He didnât want to betray Alastorâs trust by touching him while he was in such a state, and his words seemed to be making everything worse. The sinner was flinching whenever his voice came out andâŠ
AndâŠ
Lucifer couldnât do this.
Or
There are bad days and good days. Today is one of the bad ones, and that's alright. Trauma is not made to be dealt alone, and both Lucifer and Alastor have more than just themselves to help along the way.
First Times
Through their relationship, Alastor and Lucifer have experience several 'first times' together. Ever wondered how they were? Well, now you can read about them!
1. Names 2. Kiss 3. Ears, tail, wings 4. Shared bed 5. Naked contact 6. Sex I 7. Sex II 8. Three words
Unstoppable Mind
Having a brain like Lucifer's was great. Endless imagination. Hyperfocus. Lots of energy. Perfect for a being that loved creation!
And that sometimes made it easy to forget about the bad parts. A mind that never stops thinking. Creeping anxiety needing to find something to worry about. Not a minute of silence or calm.
Yes, Lucifer loved his brain just as much as he hated it. And sometimes, it made his life crumble with just one simple act.
