"To me, honestly standing in my existence as a proud trans woman in Florida has such a punk edge to it. We're in a political climate where people like me are ostracized within our communities, defamed in the media, threatened online, etc. and it takes such a strong sense of will and sense of self to live unabashedly in your truth not just for you, but for the others who feel like they can't. I don't consider myself a role model for young trans people because we're not a monolith, but I believe that showing up and showing out for my community when others can't is the least I can do."
"I remember what it's like to be scared and even ashamed to stand and showcase who I am to the world around me, but I remember the individuals that I used to look up to, not just on tv or in the movies, but in my own community, doing the damn thing and living their life just as much as anybody else should be. That inspires me every day and I believe that showing the world that trans people are still people whether it be through art, activism, small acts of kindness, it matters. Protect the Dolls. Employ the Dolls. ARM the dolls, and just show up."
