I don't think he'd say it out loud in as many words but yeah he's absolutely in love with her. Mathis thinks Odette is one of the wonders of two worlds. He worships her like a goddess in everything but name.

I don't know that she's capable of loving him back and she certainly knows she could definitely do better if she was inclined to fall in love, but he meets all of her standards for a man so he's about as close to a cherished partner as she gets.

saying this as mildly as possible but the anti ai posting tenor on this website (not last post, but in general - i have been biting my tongue for a long long time) is one generally oriented towards a maximal amount of self-righteousness. in my experience, self-righteousness only ever produces martyrdom and a punitive desire for "justice" that can never quite be quenched. none of it is actually conducive towards good politics around the matter in question, least of all ai, which is frankly poorly understood and thought about on here. a little more compassion and thoughtfulness and a little less solipsistic self-absorption perhaps is in order.

Went to use the bathroom on my lunch break and found a squirrel cooling off outside. If I could take her some water without running her off from her spot I would 😭

For anyone worried: while I am also worried about how she is holding up in the heat I saw her get up and move around quite a bit so she was - at this time - just cooling off and not showing any signs of a medical emergency

and every sign of understanding that the glass is a barrier we cannot get to her through because she put up with people walking past and taking pictures pretty well
