I have always simply gone under the assumption that their human-esque appearances was due to the Quintessons basing them off of some organics visually akin to humans (or, possibly, themselves). However, the idea of having different root modes prior to Earth is such an amusing and fascinating idea. Imagine waking up and immediately having to adjust to your friend's face completely changing into some other entity entirely, speaking a new and foreign language that is no where close to yours, and having to learn to navigate a new environment, where you have to hide among husks of your new alternative modes on top of everthing... The more I think about it, the less funny it becomes, actually. It appears to now be a genuine nightmare... Although, their species is (probably) used to it; just another Tuesday for them. Anyone else would freak out, though

I imagine for some bots it could be quite distressing, especially if they werent able to get full reformats or anything beforehand. But maybe for higher class bots like mirage, changing frames couldve just been commonplace.

Maybe they see it the same way they see changing into alt mode, like just adjusting to a different body perspective is average for them, except they cant go back? Or at least not easily.

I also considered it being interesting if they looked not like humans, but like quintessons. And quintessons used to be visually similar to humans but gene modded and twisted themselves over time to become scary squid thangs as they poisoned and destroyed the galaxy. Whoo knouws..... many possibilities

Theyre very similar in shape to humans and logically i understand why we do that, but i think it would be interesting to explore a really ALIEN version of cybertronian. Not that i have the character design skill or mechanical knowledge to try that LOL

My little headcanon i never told nobody about is that i think the reason cybertronians look so human, despite being alien robots from space, is because when they got reformatted to adapt to earth it didnt JUST affect their alt mode
