i do wonder if the prevalence of vague confusing contact stances among paraphile communities isn't because of beings intentionally obscuring their stances but because of misunderstanding what contact refers to

because paraphilias can include attraction to very mundane harmless things, i think there might be confusion that anti-contact means "don't do anything related to your paraphilia ever" which is most certainly not how i, or most beings that are anti-contact, use it. anti-contact is specifically against sexual contact with any being that does not consent or does not have the emotional intelligence to meaningfully consent (which by the way, needs to take into account all involved beings in the interaction, because the capacity to consent to one partner does not mean the capacity to consent to another, it sounds complicated but it's usually not in practice)

maybe blanket referring to that as simply "contact" isn't very clear but it's what stuck (as far i know it originated from the map community where the term "contact" is less ambiguous as to what it refers to). i know some people try to use pro-consent instead but some beings have a very poor understanding of consent, so using a contact stance is clearer. i hope this helped anyone who needed it :D
