Image 2: Taako, wearing his red IPRE robes, looks wistfully out over the railing of the Starblaster at this new world. Lup watches him from across the deck, a sad smile on her face. Between them are the lyrics “We’re a thousand miles from comfort. We have traveled land and sea.”
In the frame below this, Lup goes over to stand next to her brother. We see the two of them from behind, Taako turning to smile warmly at his sister. Around them are the lyrics “But as long as you are with me, there’s no place I’d rather be.”
Image 3: Taako’s smile falls away as the scene around him turns to black and Lup’s silhouette fades to nothing but static.
The frame below shows Lup in lich form, her black skeletal body outlined in white in front of a black, empty background. She sits on the ground with her chin resting in her hand, knees curled to her chest, her expression heartsick as she waits, alone. Next to her are the lyrics “I would wait forever, exalted in the scene…”
Image 4: Taako—now with shorter hair and wearing a dark blue jacket, traveling pack, and wizard’s hat—picks up a dark blue umbrella that is dappled with light blue stars. He has a questioning but mostly indifferent expression on his face as the umbrastaff glows gently. Beyond him sits the skeleton from Wave Echo Cave, wrapped in its red robe. Next to Taako are the lyrics “As long as I am with you, my heart continues to beat.”
In the following frame, Taako grins as he shoots magic missiles from the umbrastaff, his hat and cape blowing back from the force of the blazing projectiles. Above him are the lyrics “With every step we take, Kyoto to the bay.”
Image 5: The Tres Horny Boys are shown from the side, bathed in a gentle orange light as Merle waddles after a sprinting Magnus, Taako trailing nonchalantly behind. Taako’s umbrastaff glows at his side, the lyrics above the boys reading “Strolling so casually…”
In the frame below, Taako sleeps on a red couch—limbs and hair askew, dirty clothing and blankets strewn around him, wearing nothing but boxers, drool dripping from the corner of his mouth. His right arm trails off the side of the couch, reaching subconsciously for the umbrastaff as it glows, visibly shaking. To the side are the lyrics “We’re different and the same.”
Image 6: A flustered Taako stares at the letters “L U P” that are burned into the wall before him, his right arm holding up the umbrastaff, its tip still smoking and glowing faintly. Next to him, Angus looks dejectedly down at the plate in his hands, where his macaroons have been reduced to nothing but a pile of ash. Above them are the lyrics “Gave you another name.”
The frame below shows the lich Edward, from behind, in a heap on the ground. Lup towers before him, her eyes glowing white hot, her dark hands outlined in brilliant flames. Energy crackles around her with the lyrics “Switch up the batteries.”
Image 7: Angus is thrown backward, shocked and terrified as the umbrastaff in his hand releases a blazing burst of flame that casts the room in hues of red. Around him are the lyrics “If you gave me a chance.” An inserted frame shows Taako’s shocked face, dawning with recognition.
The following frame shows Taako, his face set in determination. He snaps the umbrastaff over his knee, engulfing him in brilliant orange light. Beside him are the lyrics “I would take it.”
Image 8: Lich Lup clenches her fist and looks upward, grinning with hope as a bright white light pierces through the imprisoning darkness around her. From the portal pour the lyrics “It’s a shot in the dark, but…”
Lup looks down as orange flames rage around her. She smiles warmly as she sees the blue figure of her brother below. Between them are the lyrics “I’ll make it.”
Image 9: Taako stares upwards in shock, tears forming in his wide eyes. Embers float around him as the flames abate, leaving the lyrics in front of a cool blue background “Know with all of your heart…”
Lich Lup floats before Taako, eyebrow arched and hand on her hip as she teases him for dating the Grim Reaper. Taako laughs in relief, reaching up to wipe the tears that stream down his face. Between them are the lyrics “You can’t shame me.”
Image 10: A final frame shows a hazy memory of the twins as kids. Taako, colored in purple, holds the hand of Lup, colored in orange, in front of a white background. They grin at each other as above them appear the lyrics “When I am with you, there’s no place I’d rather be.”
The memory fades to black. End id]
