UK JashCon 2027
This is the post for the form to gather interest, not the official sign-up sheet
Welcome, to JashCon 2027! An event for all UK Jashers (and those able to visit), where Jashers alike will meet up at a UK comiccon for a weekend of Jash cosplay, photoshoots, tiktoks? And overall the first semiofficial Jasher meetup!
Now, a preemptive FAQ:
Where will it be?
To be confirmed, but right now we are looking at Manchester Comiccon next year. Somewhere near the middle, as I personally live in Scotland.
Is this a Jash Convention?
As the demographic is rather small, this year's (well, next year) is just a meetup. If the community grows enough, however, the dream is to host a Jash-specific convention someday <3
How much will it cost?
Con entry tickets can be in the hundreds for a weekend. Transport and accommodation, I cannot tell you myself.
Will there be an age limit?
Aiming for adult Jashers attending, or late teens. Based on the nature of a meetup/event like this, I am uncomfortable letting anyone not 16+ be attending unsupervised. 13-15 year old Jashers may be allowed if accompanied with adult supervision, but that is to be HEAVILY case-by-case (and not every adult jasher will feel comfortable hanging out with young teenagers, sorry to all!)
As an example, my sister MIGHT attend. She would be 15 for it, but I'd act as her adult supervisor as I'll be 19 if so with a parent nearby.
As well as the costs that cosplaying and cons can rack up to, I'd rather it someone with their own income if not a parent with spare money.
Will [XPerson] Be There?
I'm not here to say who can and won't go. If someone is there you dislike, avoid each other. Hopefully a few trusted adults will act as someone to go to if something goes wrong (myself being one), but I'd trust we're all adults and can be sensible.
HOWEVER. I WILL be vetoing anyone participating if I feel as though they would make the majority of people feel unsafe or uncomfortable — and/or if there's a notable history of wrongdoing
I don't live in the UK, I live in [X], can I still join?
Of course! Look mate, I'm not here to tell you otherwise. If you're happy and able to travel to the UK for this, by all means we welcome you! Just travel responsibly all, as it can get expensive quickly!
Will there be more JashCons if I can't attend?
That's the hope! To keep growing bigger and better! I'd like to be able to have mini Jashcons for other cons across the UK, but this will be the main big one! And as for outwith the UK, I can't host them as I'm not local but if anyone else wants to host their own, please do! I encourage it! It would make me so unbelievably happy to see I've influenced something like that! All I will say is I am not liable ^^"
Do I need to have Discord to attend?
The brunt of this will be organised in a Discord Server, so unfortunately it'd be difficult to keep coherency across platforms. I will be making a separate blog and twitter account for updates though so it's not off the table, but if you are thinking about attending without Discord then it's on you to keep in contact with me as much as possible. If there is someone who can speak on your behalf in the server, however, I would much prefer a situation like that.
Any Cosplay Limitations?
Your imagination and a suitcase if travelling!
I'd like to have as many different Jashling cosplays as possible. Not to say there can't be multiple Minds, but that yours stands out in one way or another!
Can I do a matching cosplay with [X]?
If they're on board, I'd love to see it!
Can I cosplay from an AU?
Go for it!!
Can I cosplay from something else but still partake?
Yesn't? The specific hope and goal is for everyone to be a Jasher. However, if you'd like to be a Jash one day and something unrelated the next, go for it! Just be appropriate, please
Can I closet cosplay?
Course! Just try to stay recognisable ^^
Do I need to make my cosplay myself (by hand)?
We would be very impressed but not at all haha
What else will be going on?
Okay, not gonna be a questioned frequently asked, but! The following are a list of things I'd like to do, asusming the numbers are there for some:
- Name Badges for everyone with their name, social and pronouns! Made by me or yourself if you wish to! (I'd just like to verify them!)
- Jasher Pub Night for all those legal age with an ID (18+ in the UK). Non-drinkers can attend at their discretion :]
- Photoshoots! Everyone who attends dressed up at all (doesn't have to be in cosplay) can get their photos taken by my lovely partner @theencorecast !
- Jashcon CMV. Compile videos and photos taken throughout the days to a CJ song to commemorate <3
- Individual Meet-Ups of Jash friend groups (personal, not organised by me aside for my squad (shoutout Giz & co))
- Best Jashed Cosplay Contest: Commission or money depending on how things play out
- Jash Rave. This is unfortunately the one that needs the most thought with the highest attendee requirement to pull off
- More to be thought-out!
