Jay Ledford’s journey as a Filipino-American transgender ballerina

When she was 17 months old, Jay, who was born in Leyte, moved to Indiana after the Ledford family adopted her.

Five years into learning pirouettes and splits and arabesques, Jay bagged full scholarships for summer ballet intensives at the Kirov Academy, the Rock School of Dance, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theater.

Jay became a full-time ballet dancer in 2017 after she graduated from high school. It was also when she fully embraced her gender.

TSAZ 2017 Inaugural Prom (Glitter and Gold)

http://transspectrum.org/2017-inaugural-prom-glitter-and-gold/ The event is an 18 and over event from 6pm to 11pm on Saturday April 29th at 1st Congregational Church located at 1407 North 2nd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004. DJ is Mike Hutton. He has been a DJ and KJ in the Valley for 9 years, He specializes in weddings and private parties. Formal/Semi Formal attire, We will have a professional photographer, finger foods, door prizes, theme is glitter and gold. Couples optional -you don't need to bring a date. Just please come and enjoy the fun open atmosphere, designed to give you the Prom you always wanted.

Phoenix Pride Parade Sunday April 2nd

If you would like to help Decorate Josef's Truck for the Pride Parade please look for the Black Toyota on 3rd St. @ 7:30 am. We're a little further north this year - between Virginia and Sheridan. The Parade itself starts at 10:00 am so make sure you find us by 9:30 am if you would like to march with us. Parking is a premium so be prepared you may have to pay for it. message us if you have any questions (get lost ect.)

In an effort to advocate for and support our community, please see the following matter that requires immediate attention.

Arizona Senate Bill SB 1199 – Criminal History Investigation; Name change

If passed this bill will add a wholly unnecessary step to the state’s name change processes, requiring any person requesting a name change to furnish at their expense a full set of fingerprints to the court, enabling a criminal history records check to be conducted. Not only will there be an additional expense, but there will be additional wait time for applicants. Passage of this bill will adversely affect the transgender community.

Time is running out. The bill has received a Do Pass motion.

Please reach out to your Arizona State Senator regarding the bill to voice your concern and/or objection.
