i think itās very disappointing how much i see mae drawn skinny. the majority of nitw art i see depicts her as such, despite her describing herself as round in game. itās a dialogue option that you literally canāt miss since the mirror scene is unavoidable
you can choose the other option, but you still see this one regardless of what you pick. mae is ROUND. this means she is NOT skinny. i guess some would argue that because her arms and legs are smaller that she is, but thatās literally just because of the gameās artstyle. EVERYONE is depicted that way, so it doesnāt change the fact that she is fat
another piece of dialogue describes her as āsturdy.ā being a chubby person myself, this is literally what my mom called me when i was little. itās really upsetting to see a character i love and relate to so much misrepresented this way when she is canonically built like me. itās already rare to see good representation of fat people, so erasing the ones we get doesnāt help
next time you draw mae please try to keep this in mind. and to everyone who draws mae chubby already, i love you forever and always. thank you

Been on an indefinite hiatus from tumblr. I check back only once in a while now. Super active on FR still tho
I think the big issue about the skin contests on fr is simply that there will always be an invisible high skill requirement for them. they're official items and are put under the scrutiny of reaching the minimum quality an official site item has. This will also most likely never change, small, inexperienced artists will have the odds stacked against them as long as better artists enter.
The real "fix" will just be to have other types of contest that are more open to varying art skills tbh.
it sucks because there comes a point where the only answer you can give an artist is simply that their art hasnt reached that level, so they either end up practicing with usually no benefit (newer artists skins often dont sell will as umas either) or just not participate until their general art skill improves where then they just have to learn specific skin making skills to have a fair shot.
I do really think we need more open, diverse contests in fr. having the only contest be a demanding one that requires you to be AT MINIMUM an intermediate artist but will often need you to be a really good one absolutely crushes people who are still learning, and they do deserve a chance at something, but skins will probably never be one of those chances
i hope we all explode.
