Reigen Arataka was a lucky man. Half of the city was still left in utter chaos with the aftermath of the volcano’s eruption, but as per usual, the conman seemed to have landed on his feet just fine. At first, staying at the newly established homeless shelter appeared to be his only option after his previous apartment was destroyed by the earthquakes that wracked Bellevue, but that was no longer necessary.
Offered a place to live as he gathered funds for a new apartment of his own, Reo had been kind enough to give Reigen his spare bedroom. His belongings from his office, and what few items that could be salvaged from West Side sat in cardboard boxes in the main living area of the apartment, waiting to be unpacked as Reigen finished his meal – a humble bowl of cereal as he sat in front of the TV.
Comfortable as could be, settling in seemed to be no problem, though the peace of an empty apartment didn’t last too much longer. The click of a door could be heard, and as Reigen stood and turned around he was met with the sight of an unfamiliar young man with a hair colour strikingly similar to his own.
“Ah!” He exclaimed, half chewing on cornflakes as he pointed the spoon casually towards the other. Even if he didn’t know the man, there was only one other person he’d heard of who would have had access to the apartment. It wasn’t too hard to put two and two together. “You must be Yosuke, right? Pleased to meet you!”
Yosuke was tired, like really tired, but not exactly physically. No the day hadn’t been that kind to him, a bit of relaxing and a warm bath would be just what he needed after a long day of physical labor but wouldn’t be much for the emotional strain he had to deal with at work. Noisy customers, noisier employees, the day felt like it was never going to end, so he was absolutely relieved when his shift had come to an end and he’d left another manager in charge for the remainder of the day. Now he could relax at home for a while and if he was lucky spend a bit of time with Reo if he was completely free. With fluctuating schedules between the two of them it was hard to tell if they’d get any time together during the day or not so he’d just have to cross his fingers.
Though really, when did that ever do him any good?
He’d had hope when he found the door to the apartment unlocked and heard the TV running from inside when he’d opened the door. After all Reo would never leave the door unlocked if neither of them were going to be home. Yosuke slipped off his shoes and moved them out of the doorway before making his way further into the apartment.
“I’m home, today was pretty--”
That was not Reo. For a minute he’d believed that he’d stepped into the wrong apartment, it had been a long day maybe he missed their’s by a door, a simple mistake and the occupant didn’t seem too bothered. Only a quick look around told him it was their apartment, aside from boxes he was sure hadn’t been their before.
The man addressed him and Yosuke was taken aback. He knew his name? Just who was this?
“W-who are you?” he begins trying not to laugh at the whole thing because this was just his luck, “And what are you doing in my apartment?”
Worst case scenario this guy was nuts and there’s no telling why he’s here not that he’d stick around to interrogate him or anything. Best case scenario, well Yosuke couldn’t really think of one right now but he’ll get back to that later.
