i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

ooh this one i can answer-- images under the cut!

(this is based on a step-by-step i posted on patreon a couple years ago)

1: very rough sketch, most of the pattern will be straight into inking but for more complex patterns i'll bounce back to this layer occasionally to doodle out the placement of elements

2: focus on completing one continuous section that can be selected and slid to the opposite side. you'll want a fair bit of spillover rather than focusing tightly on the section alone, that way the gaps you fill in later won't stand out.

3: repeat the process in the other direction

4: the former centres of those completed sections now form a frame around the outside, as long as you don't touch them this is a seamless tile! fill in the middle with detail that connects all the loose ends

5: filling intensifies

the bigger those initial sections, the bigger 'frame' you create, the more organic the pattern will be and the less you'll notice repetition-- here's a really massive tile, zoomed out so you can see the edges:

Do you ever draw your own poses from scratch or do you always use models? /gen

From scratch as in without any reference off the cuff? God no, virtually never anymore. I used to think it was cooler to draw based on pure visualization, but its really fine either way. For me personally, spending an hour on one pose feels excessive.

Never turn down a more efficient solution for anything; that's how I live my life lol.
