Can you pray for me? I've been homeless and living in my family's car for over a year and don't have any remaining extended family I can rely on. My suffering has brought me closer to God and made me aware of what truly matters in life and the Lord has been with me through it all and given me the best in the worst which I'mdeeply thankful for, but this can't keep going on...
I am so sorry for all that you have been through and all that you are going through. Having been homeless myself, I understand how stressful and exhausting it is. I don't really know how things work where you are, but something that was a big help to me was just getting in touch with as many organisations/charities as I possibly could. Sometimes resources are very awkwardly spread out and while one charity may only be able to provide you with X another charity might be able to provide you with Y. And often they have a range of experience and education, so there's stuff that one person might know that another doesn't.
Reach out to as many Churches as you can also. They may be able to help in a lot of ways. I know it's exhausting, it is a lot of work on top of an already stressful time. See if you can find people that can help you with this. Often times charities can put in referrals for you to places and help you fill out forms and even write letters of recommendation for support services. This might ease some of the stress.
And if you make a fundraiser for some money, I would be happy to share it with my followers. You can make a fundraiser for anything, a few nights in a hotel room now and again to give you access to hot water and a comfy bed. A fundraiser to cover your essentials, or even to help boost your funds for getting a place to stay. Even if you just decide to set an amount and then figure out how you're going to use it based off of what you can get.
Saint Xenia of Saint Petersburg is associated with those that are homeless and struggling to find a place to stay. There is an Akathist to her, which is quite long. It is traditionally prayed for 40 days. If you find the Akathist too long to pray, you can use this shorter prayer:
Blessed Xenia, our patient and wise mother, you had no home or wealth in this world for you transcended all vanity and acquired the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. You gave everything, materially and spiritually, to the poor. Since we are poor in every way, we call on you to direct us to the Lord Jesus Christ Who blessed your ascetic path with abundant wonders. You were regarded a homeless fool by the world, but you were a meek helper to the unfortunate and a builder of the Holy Church. Blessed mother, we implore your sympathy for our feeble resolve and our bitter troubles, for our daily tasks and our family relationships, and for our disabilities and our frailties. Have compassion upon us and spare us from sinister temptation and evil gloom. We request your kindness, and we thank you for your intercession. Amen.
I have found Saint Xenia to be an incredibly powerful intercessor. I trust that she will help you. Ask for her prayers and assistance often. I am also going to recommend Saint Olga of Alaska. Here is a short prayer for her intercession:
O blessed Matushka Olga, hear our prayer as we lift up our hearts to you, trusting in the power of your ceaseless intercession. Even as you spread the warmth of your maternal love over the souls of the needy, abused, and broken, so warm our souls also, healing our pain and bringing us the love of Christ. Through your prayers, may we walk in the paths of peace, pleasing our Lord and glorifying His Name, and so finally fail not to enter into the joy of His eternal Kingdom, praising our God forever before His throne: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now, and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
And here is a prayer during time of need:
Almighty God, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, come to my help and deliver me from this difficulty that besets me. I believe Lord, that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things work for the good of those who love You. Take away from me fear, anxiety and distress. Help me to face and endure my difficulty with faith, courage and wisdom.
Grant that this trial may bring me closer to You for You are my rock and refuge, my comfort and hope, my delight and joy. I trust in Your love and compassion. O Lord, Thou who steadied the hand of Peter as he began to sink on the stormy sea, if Thou are with me, no one is against me. Grant to me the shield of faith and the mighty armor of the Holy Spirit to protect me and guide me to do Thy will. The future I put into Thy hands, O Lord, and I follow Thee to a life in Christ. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
May God bless you, comfort you, strengthen, and guide you. I will keep you in my prayers, and I hope you are able to find the assistance you need soon
