My name is Jacey, 23 years old from Singapore. I have been to tokyo for a couple of times for travelling (and I planned all on my own) so generally I know tokyo fairly well. I have studied japanese language for 4-5 years (Have taken JLPT N5 cert & continuing to take N4 in 2017) I can be your japanese translator for any inquiries you have. I am very fluent in chinese & english.
I’m offering a travel planning service for Japan, Tokyo. (only tokyo) I love japan in general and this is what I love to do, interacting with things related to japan. I hope to earn money by helping people to plan for their trips or being a translator.
Q&A Frequently asked questions
Q : Why should I hire you to plan my tokyo trip? I can do it on my own too.
Ans : I cater more to people who have very tight budgets & time. People who do not have much extra time to really plan their itinery in detailed manner. Planning well for your itinery is very important as time is extremely precious to travelers when they are in another country. If you are lost, time is wasted. (I’m speaking from personal experiences)
It takes a lot of research, patience and time to fully understand their transportation (Especially their trains) as it is very confusing.
E.g) if you want to get from point A to B and you ask google. They will tell you it takes 4 hours to get there. However, after researching it myself, I realized that it actually only takes 1 hr 30 mins to reach from point A to B (also speaking from own experience) sometimes google gives you the longer way to travel.
If you hire me, I could give you the correct, shortest & cheapest route in a snap of your finger! Rather than you staring at your computer painfully for 2 hours, I could summarize it up for you, pointing out to you in the map which line you should take, how many stops there are, how long it would take & when is the first and last train.
You may say that researching and planning my own trip is what makes travelling fun. I agree. However, whenever I’m doing it for myself, sometimes I feel that it’s also a tad bit stressful because you need to consider the timing correctly (eg. like how long does it get from point A to B, how long do you want to spend in a place, what if there’s a change in weather?) There’s many factor that could affect your trip and you want your trip to be a fruitful one.
My service is basically helping you to save money, time, stress and also able to go one step deeper, knowing about the culture, places, transportation etc.
Some of the places that I know of is through lots of researching on youtube, food bloggers, the locals or even learning about it myself when I’m there travelling. Some of the travel websites that you see do not mention some of the best food places in tokyo or even highlighting the best places to see sakuras.
Q : Do you help to book hotels? Airplane tickets? Sim Cards? Wifi Routers? Travel Insurances?
A : I would propose a few suggestions of hotels according to your preference of location, style, how many stars & the costs you requests and you may further proceed with the billing yourself. Otherwise, if you are willing to pay full amount before me booking the hotel for you that is okay with me. This same goes for air tickets as well, I will find the date, time & price according to your criteria.
For Sim cards, you can get them during the arrival in either Haneda or Narita Airport. They have a vending machine for it (you can select them according to what type of sim card your phone needs) and the daily amount of MB of internet you need.
For Wifi Routers, you can do booking at your local airports or other companies that rents wifi routers (for singapore there is rental of wifi-routers in airport itself) and collect them before you board your plane to tokyo. If you are unable to do so, you can also rent them in Narita or Haneda airport.
For Travel insurance, it is up to your own personal needs. I am not an experienced insurance seller, so I’m not that familiar with it. For myself, I always buy my travel insurance from NTUC Income. (They cost around 40-60 SGD)
Q : Give me reasons why I should hire you to be my travel planner?
1. I charge lesser than your local travel agencies
2. No time will be wasted while you are there. Your itinerary will be planned according to your own preference (you can input your list of where you want to go, what do you want to eat or what do you want to do and I can in-cooperate into your itinerary) so basically there is no fixed schedule from me! It’s all based on you. The schedule won’t be too slow or too rushing.
3. You can learn much more about Tokyo in a short period of time without spending a huge amount of time on the computer.
4. I know how to speak, read & write japanese. Any inquiries about websites that are fully in japanese you can always ask me about it.
5. I’m experienced in the Tokyo area.
6. You are well taken care of. I will include all the specific details & directions that you need to prevent you from being lost, or get confused while taking their JR or Subway trains. If you are afraid of change in weather and it might affect your schedule I can have another back up plan for you to not lose any precious time while you’re there.
Q : I’m not from Singapore but I would still want to hire you for your service. Is that possible?
A : Yes that is possible. If you do not mind, we can discuss over skype (through video/voice call or just typing words.) as for payment we can further discuss about it privately when the time comes.
Q : Okay, so I want to hire you now. What comes next?
A : I will gather information from you on what would you like to see, do and eat in Tokyo, how many days are you going, what is your budget etc. and suggest a few places of interest that I know of . If there is any specific place you would like to go to, I can add in into the list. Then, I will compile all the information and do a draft for you, and then present it to you personally explaining how I would plan the itinerary. The Itinerary will be edited according to your feedback. Once everything is finalized and you are happy with it, then you can make the payment for me before flying off to Tokyo!
Q : How much do you charge?
A : 1 to 1 consultation face to face (only in singapore) - 1 hour (25 SGD)
1 day of planned itinerary - 50 SGD
