Fist Dirt Bike Ride - A Father and Son Outing July 2018 from Travis Hilton on Vimeo.
Josh came home from LA to experience his first dirt bike ride. After a few rides on a practice course we took an adventure ride up Logan Canyon then over the mountain into Bear Lake for hamburgers and milk shakes. The sunset lit grand finally took us on the road through the Caribou National Forest farms and fields of Idaho and back through Preston to return home.
Story of the River from Travis Hilton on Vimeo.
I took a spin up Smithfield Canyon last night on the old motorbike looking for symbols in nature that guide us in life. Summit Creek roared with new spring run-off shouting out symbols for life. How refreshing and inspiring!
“And when my father saw that the waters of the river emptied into the fountain of the Red Sea he spake unto Laman saying: O that thou mightest be like unto this river continually running into the fountain of all righteousness! And he also spake unto Lemuel: O that thou mightest be like unto this valley firm and steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of the Lord!” (1 Nephi 2: 9-10)

Living Water Among the Downfall from Travis Hilton on Vimeo.
While taking photos in the canyon I observed timber that fell across one of my favorite photo sites in the creek. The parallel between the clean and fresh creek water easily navigating around the wreckage and Jesus Christ the “Living Water” seemed to present itself. Another lesson from nature.
John 4:10-11 Jesus answered and said unto her If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him and he would have given thee living water.

We went to the LDS Idaho Falls Open House yesterday. It was beautiful and peaceful. I like this verse: "But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him." Habakkuk 2:20 #temple #idahofallstemple (at Idaho Falls Temple Visitors' Center)
The irony of it all! Saturday morning my son Lucas and I went ice fishing with his scout troop prior to his hockey game. He loves to play hockey and is always looking for a place to skate. We thought there might be a slight chance that a patch of ice could be clear of snow at the lake, but alas the ice was crusted and rough. Here we were on a lake covered with ice and the only thing he could do with his skates was to prop up his fishing pole! http://hilton.photo #scouts #icefishing #winter #hockey (at Hyrum Reservoir)
Even with the haze of an inverted atmosphere during January in Cache Valley, the Logan LDS Temple stands beckoning inviting us to enter and and receive of the God given peace found within its walls. Sometimes our lives become inverted. We need light, peace and clean air to fill our souls. God can provide that. http://hilton.photo #peace #landscape #panoramic #logantemple #cachevalley #winter (at Logan Utah Temple)
How tall do I stand and how far is my reach? This panoramic macro photo captures the top 5 inches of a bush otherwise buried in 4 feet of snow in Logan Canyon. A panning technique was utilized to capture its shadow measuring 4-5 times the height of the bush, which was projected by the rays of a bright low rising winter sun. There is life analogy that this natural phenomenon encourages. The sunlight strikes the bush top causing a silhouetted replica to reach across the sparkling frozen snow. Similarly, the Light of Christ touches each of us. If we will bask in that light, stand as tall as we can - even while buried in the depths of winter snows. An influence for good will be cast to others even to exceed our efforts to stand in the light. It is the Light of even Jesus Christ, by His grace, that will give any of us strength to stand if we desire it. "Mosiah 16:9 - He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death." These are words from the ancient prophet, Abinadi, who once lived on the American continent and who's words were recorded in an ancient book of scripture called the Book of Mormon. What analogies to life do you see in this photo? http://hilton.photo #light #Christ #landscape #panoramic #macro (at Logan Canyon)
Near-frozen Logan River below Beaver Mountain The Logan River near Tony Grove is days from being frozen on the surface. Until then unique below-water ice pillows form and surface ice threatens to conceal the running water for the remainder of winter. From a distance Beaver Mountain looks on as winter continually changes the landscape. http://hilton.photo #landscape, #snow, #aerial, #photoart, #ice, #river, #tonygrove, #loganriver, #beavermountain (at Logan River, Utah)

This tiny tip of a shrub buried 4 feet beneath the snow near Tony Grove in Logan Canyon appears like a distant tree on a distant Antarctica mountain. John Cox was kind enough to encourage me on this photo shoot this morning. When looking through a macro lense such as the one I used for this photo, the photographer is able to see far more than meets the naked eye. God sees us in far more detail than we can even see from our point of view. God sees in us far reaching potential. Potential, in fact, to receive strength from him to ascend greater mountains than we deem possible. 1 Corinthians 1:27. http://hilton.photo #macro #landscape #snow #photoart #humility (at Tony Grove)
A billion stars sparkled - backlit by the awe striking Milky Way Galaxy on a evening last September. My nephew Jonathan and I docked Granpa Tan's boat and spent the night trying to capture the majesty in the heavens above us. This one turned out. Tonight on the evening of the celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, I am pondering what the new star must have looked like on that night. The sky's were not polluted with light pollution at that time. The Milky Way must have been a common view at night, and among the billions of stars the new star must have really shown out for it to be followed by the wise men. Let us be like the wise men and follow the light of Christ. #Christ, #star, #heaven, #milkyway, #ASaviorIsBorn http://hilton.photo (at Bear Lake, Ut)
Last night the Wellsville mountain range lay nestled under this mid December snow. Sunset reflected on the not yet frozen Little Bear River reminding me that winter is now here. http://hilton. #snow #mountains #sunset #landscape #wellsville #winter (at Mendon Peak)
Thanksgiving morning. Snow had just fallen, and the air was brisk and vibrant. The Wellsvilles mountain range was showing off with its new robe of white and begged for a portrait. #wellsvilles, #thanksgiving, #panoramic, #snow (at Wellsville, Utah)
I took RAZR ride to the summit of Mount Logan this evening working on a project. At first we were immersed in the clouds, but momentarily they broke and a glorious stream of light pierced them visually igniting ground as if it were on fire. What a spectacular sight! I like to think that God is the great painter of such inspiring scenes, and I am grateful that he has given me eyes to see. Thanks Mont Didericksen for the cool ride. #sunset #clouds #mountlogan (at Mount Logan Peak)
Up on the Wellsvilles again today, this time trying out a new photography technique. This is a 360 degree panoramic projected via a stereographic projection onto an image. This colorful fall world reminds me that God has created this earth and handed it over to us, for the most part. We then make our view of the world around us, just like I made this view. The good news is that as we turn to him, we can make our view of this world much better. #world #panoramic #360panorama (at Wellsville Mountains)
