🌱 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────   “   you   know   that’s   what   i’m   always   here   for.   moral   support   and   all   that.   ”      their   eyes   turned   into   little   happy   half   moons   as   they   looked   up   at   jim.   damn,   they   loved   him   so   much.   it   was   a   little   ridiculous.      “   me   ?   lie   to   you   ?   never   !   ”      they   feigned   offense   with   their   hand   pressed   against   their   chest.      “   some   of   them   are   great   but   we   can’t   always   have   great   ideas.   i   have   to   humble   you   somehow.   yeah   …   i’d   love   a   new   toaster.   really   i   would.   i’d   stop   spending   so   much   money   on   toasted   bagels   if   i   had   one.   ”   

“Yeah, I can feel it. I’m so lucky to have you.” Jim laughed at his partner before pulling them in for a hug. “Uh huh, yeah, sure, you’d never lie. Whatever helps you sleep at night.” He let Wally go to pick up his skateboard. “Thank you for humoring me and humbling me. It can’t be an easy task. We could get a new toaster and I’ll try very hard not to turn it into atoms again.”

Sora watched Jim fall to the ground and used his foot to stop the skateboard from going down the hill with his foot. Man, he missed skateboarding. The baby strapped to his chest kept him trapped. He looked down to see Kieran fast asleep and he refused to think about how cute the baby looked. “Didn’t know you could think, Jim.” Sora joked. 

Jim rolled his eyes before getting himself off the ground and dusted himself off. “Gee, thanks, Sora.” He raised an eyebrow at the baby strapped to his chest. “Okay, so it’s been a while but pretty sure it hasn’t been long enough that I missed the existence of a baby.”

Jim shrugged for once he had no other responsibility at the moment, “Nah, it’d be nice to go check it out. I’m a thrill seeker but my family not so much not that a baby can go on a rollercoaster.”

Watching from a nearby house’s rooftop, Beatrix winced as the guy fell. She didn’t hesitate to jump down from the roof, quickly running after the skateboard and picking it up in one swoop. Jogging back to the guy, she held it out, barely huffing or puffing. “…so are you gonna try again or do I get a free skateboard?” she asked, only half-joking. 

Jim rubbed at the side of his calf hoping it would help the sting go away faster. It only made it worse. He managed a small chuckled as picked himself up and dusted off his pants before taking back his skateboard. “Thanks. It’s not even the first time I’ve fallen and it sure as hell won’t be the last. But I’m stubborn.”

🌱 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────  wally   was   heading   home   from   a   shift   at   work.   the   kids   were   with   howl   today   so   the   only   thing   they   had   to   worry   about   when   getting   home   was   starting   dinner.   in   the   distance   they   saw   a   skateboarding   figure.   at   first   assumptions   they   thought   it   was   jim,   but   of   course   it   was   easy   to   associate   their   boyfriend   with   skateboards   when   that   was   his   prefered   mode   of   transportation,   but   jim   wasn’t   the   only   one   who   skateboarded   in   elias.   as   the   figure   came   closer   and   eventually   hit   the   curb,   wally’s   suspicions   were   confirmed.      “   jimothy,   our   eight   month   old   has   better   coordination   than   you.   ”      they   teased,   bending   down   to   jim’s   level   and   kissing   him.      “   i   dunno,   i   think   you   have   great   thoughts   in   that   noggin   of   yours.   ”

“I do love the support, babe, really.” Jim smiled at the kiss and almost forgot that he’d embarrassed himself a minute ago. Wally’s affection always served to brighten up any bad day he might be having. He was just that smitten. “But you’re lying and you know it, babe. I have ideas but they’re not always great. This is why we don’t have a toaster.” Jim like to save time on things but he’d accidentally cost them quite a few appliances because of that.

☀️ ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────   reagan   had   become   friends   with   jim   not   too   long   ago.   they   both   shared   a   love   for   adventure.   it   seemed   as   though   jim   had   seen   so   much   and   reagan   loved   to   pick   his   brain   about   the   places   he   had   seen   and   the   places   he   wanted   to   go.   their   usual   hang   out   had   led   them   to   elias   botanical   garden.   the   princess   had   expected   it   to   just   be   them   but   with   beckham   being   busy   that   afternoon,   ben   was   tagging   along.   which   wasn’t   a   problem   for   reagan.   she   happily   took   her   son   everywhere   she   went.   she   just   hadn’t   informed   jim   that   her   almost   one   year   old   would   be   coming   along.   when   she   arrived   to   the   garden   she   noticed   jim   also   had   a   friend   in   tow.      “   josh   tagged   along   !   ”   she   had   yet   to   meet   jim’s   son   but   she   had   heard   so   much   about   him,   circe   and   jim’s   partner.      “   it   looks   like   today   went   from   a   reagan   and   jim   adventure   to   a   reagan   and   jim   adventure   plus   our   boys.   ”

Jim had met quite a few people in his time in Elias. His stay had clearly become permanent before he even realized it. With that came friends and one of them was Reagan. He wasn’t one to talk much but he didn’t mind answering all her questions whenever they met up. Josh had been particularly clingy today and Jim didn’t have the heart to leave him so he brought him along to enjoy the gardens with him and Reagan. “He did! It’s about time you met him.” Jim smiled as he greeted the princess. Josh squeezed his hand and Jim squeezed back to let him know everything was okay. “Sounds like an upgrade to our day if you ask me. Josh has been begging me to bring him here anyway.”

He’d gotten better at avoiding people when he was skating. He was constantly falling in the beginning and that’s even how he’d met Wally. But ramming into people at top speed was not exactly nice. He let himself go as fast he’d liked since the street was empty. It made him miss his home planet. He’d gotten used to this planet and he’d built a family here but he missed space and all it’s endless possibilities. Too lost in thought, he didn’t see the curb, and flipped over to land on his bottom. His skateboard kept going without him but his ego was too hurt for him to get up after it. “This is why I shouldn’t think.”

☄️ ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────       there   was   no   denying   that   andi   was   indeed   her   father’s   daughter.   it   was   something   she   was   quite   proud   of.   she   loved   both   of   her   parents   dearly   but   she   was   always   closer   to   jim.   he   understood   her   the   best.   since   marrying   nina,   life   had   been   bliss.   it   also   meant   that   she   was   venturing   off   into   her   own   world   separate   from   her   family.   andi   didn’t   think   she’d   be   the   first   hawkins   to   be   married   but   with   josh   refusing   to   get   married   here   she   was.   

with   thanksgiving   right   around   the   corner   she   decided   to   come   over   and   spend   time   with   her   siblings.   more   importantly   spend   time   with   her   dad.      “   hey,   old   man.   ”      she   greeted   him   with   a   smile.      “   it’s   great.   nothing’s   really   changed   expect   you   know   we’re   mrs.   and   mrs.   now   and   live   together.   yeah,   i   assumed   you’d   miss   me.   ”      she   got   up   to   hug   him.      “   i   miss   you   too.   ”

He immediately wrapped her in his arms and squeezed. His babies were all so big now and as much as he was loving time alone with Wally for the first time in years, he missed them all so much. Especially his little shadow that had been Andi.

“Oh! Old man, wow.” Jim chuckled as he let her go. “I know you do. Who wouldn’t miss my sparkling personality? How will you ever survive without my dad jokes?”

🌱 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────    as   a   nepotism   baby,   josh   had   grown   up   in   the   spotlight   in   the   latter   years   of   his   life.   he   had   always   known   it   given   he   was   friends   with   dante.   it   wasn’t   until   his   mom   became   an   actor   did   he   understand   the   magnitude   of   having   a   famous   parent.   josh   was   never   one   who   liked   attention.   he   preferred   to   melt   into   the   background   and   let   others   take   the   lead.   despite   being   a   famous   author   and   dating   a   racecar   driver,   josh   was   a   private   person   and   wasn’t   a   fan   of   the   spotlight.

so   how   did   he   end   up   modeling   for   his   mom   ?   the   idea   of   a   photoshoot   with   his   younger   brother,   percy,   came   about.   wally   had   never   pressured   their   kids   to   do   anything   when   it   came   to   their   fashion   line.   if   they   wanted   to   model   or   be   part   of   it   they   were   more   than   happy   to   let   them.   josh   never   had   an   interest   in   having   his   face   plastered   anywhere.   yet   he   could   never   say   no   to   percy.   that’s   how   josh   found   himself   in   front   of   a   camera   and   now   staring   at   himself   on   his   phone   as   the   photos   began   to   flood   instagram.   

“   do   you   ever   get   used   to   it   ?   ”      josh   asked   percy   as   he   looked   at   the   photo   of   them   their   dad   had   shared   to   his   story.   

Percy loved attention. He thrived at being at the center of attention. Lately, it had been a little less so. It was like having Lachlan’s attention made it so that no one else’s attention mattered. But he did finally decide to make his mom’s dream come true and do the modeling thing. He was having a hard time trying to find a path of his own. 

But his family was still the core of who he was. So he used his baby brother powers of persuasion to get Josh to hang out with him. Percy grinned and leaned into his brother’s side to peek at his phone. “Uh, yeah? I like it. Dad’s always proud and people always have things to say. But you had fun, right?”

Jim wasn’t biased when it came to his children. He loved them all equally. Sure, some of them upset him more than others and some of them just got along with him better. He found common ground with all of them, even Percy, but Andi was the one who was most like him. His daughter just stole his heart from the get go. Sure, she drove Wally crazy but so did he, so they couldn’t really complain. He couldn’t believe that she was married now and that she was building her own home. He was beyond happy to find her sitting in the living room.

“Hey, honey.” He greeted her with a smile and a kiss to the top of her head. “How’s married life? Did you remember your old man misses you?”

“There’s two. Circe’s still a baby so she can’t really say if she likes Josh or not yet. It’s definitely lively.” It was worse when all the kids were over and ran amuck in their home. It had been a change for him for sure. Adapting to kids and just a home in general was hard. “Uh, yeah, with a hoverboard. It’s not from this world, I guess you could say. Cars suck. I’m Jim, nice to meet you, Roxas. How long have you been skateboarding?”

🌱 ⠀  ⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ───────────    “   it’s   a   pretty   daunting   thought.   who   knows   what   could   be   lurking.   ”      they   scrunch   their   nose   up   at   him.   mostly   to   contain   the   fondness   they   have   for   jim.      “   okay   mr.   big   words,   i’d   never   put   mileage   on   my   love   for   you.   ”   

seeing   the   stillness   in   jim   caused   wally's’   heart   stop   in   their   chest.   for   a   moment   they   regretted   even   bringing   the   topic   up.   what   if   they   had   pushed   too   far   this   time   ?   their   old   insecurities   were   beginning   to   creep   up   in   their   mind   when   jim   said   he   had   never   thought   about   it   but   soon   after   any   fears   and   doubts   they   had   were   quelled.   jim   had   a   great   way   of   always   easing   their   mind.   a   deep   sigh   left   them   as   they   leaned   up   on   their   tippy   toes   to   kiss   jim.      “   after   circe   i   figured   i   was   stuck   with   you.   ”      wally   said   with   a   soft   chuckle.      

“   i   would   marry   you   if   you   asked.   i   would   marry   again   if   it   was   you.   even   if   you   never   ask   i’d   be   happy   to   be   with   you   forever   without   a   ring.   i   just   had   a   few   people   wondering   why   we   weren’t   engaged.   you   know   how   it   goes.   ”      they   could   feel   a   blush   starting   to   bloom   on   their   cheeks   with   admitting   that   and   hid   their   face   pressed   against   jim’s   chest.

“Yeah, it’s best not to think about it or the mind just keeps making it worse.” He tapped the tip of their nose with his finger just because he could. “Yeah, yeah. I’ll remember that.”

“You are never stuck with me, Wally. You can kick me to the curb if you want.” Jim was teasing but he always made it clear that Wally had to be happy in their relationship. He returned the kiss before raising an eyebrow.  “I’m not proposing to you right now. It’s not romantic enough. But I’ll marry you, Wally. There’s really nothing else I’d want more. Not that it’s anyone’s business though. Like I said, marriage really isn’t necessary for me to still want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

“ Don’t worry, I’ll get right on it. I’ll set up a Facebook event : mass walk-out or whatever. Sticking it to the Mouse man, ” he said in mock seriousness. Nick nodded along, pretending to understand everything the stranger was saying, but it was like being taught rocket science. “ And it’s just … a thing here. Like how someone can whistle with their fingers and some can’t ? ” Nick blinked. “ I know you just said it’s destructive but now I really do want to see it. ”

“Sounds like that’ll show him for sure.” Jim just chuckled. He couldn’t imagine it but he also kinda wanted to see it. Just because it would be fun to see what Mickey would do. “It is. Like it’s just the general town consensus that everyone here is weird unless proven otherwise.” He figured a little bit wouldn’t get hurt. He picked up a leaf and pushed the atoms in it around until the leaf disintegrated. “Something small like this isn’t bad but I’ve messed some stuff up.”

“Yeah, kids. They’re complicated.” Jim chuckled. He hadn’t known anything about kids before either but Josh had taught him a lot. He didn’t think a lot of people knew about kids in particular so he wasn’t gonna think too much about it. “Yeah? I’m only child so I’m glad Josh has a little sister.”  He was happy that his son would have a built in companion of sorts. “That’s great! I have too. My skateboards were a little different before but wheels are fun too and gravity. It’s way better than cars or walking.”
