My take on star trek uniforms! Plus some extra uniforms.
I took my favourite pieces from all the different costumes over the years, though i used the TNG uniform as a base, because it’s my personal favourite. I’m very very proud of this. I wanted to make the uniforms a little more militaristic (they’re the space navy, after all), but not all bland and superhero-y like the newer uniforms. Also, the dress uniforms and cadet uniforms are always ugly as fuck.
I made the cadets green (the only free colour, from Kirk’s wonderful slutty little wrap shirt) and avoided metal (because the different colours are coded to division, which the cadets haven’t been assigned yet), I used the early-season TNG uniforms as a base for this one, because i think the little sailor collars are ADORABLE, though i made them less tight and silly.
The collars with the uneven little but is a refrence to Uhura’s funny little 1960s uneven black collar because i thought it looked amazing and it needs to come back. I tried to make their ranks more obvious, because i think the pips make it hard to see a person’s rank, so I stuck it on their arms. Past captain, there’s a centre line, and the horizontal lines are one full pip.
For the dress uniforms I decided to make them more military and proper, I kind of liked the idea of “everyone wears dresses in the future” but I think that the tunic uniforms looked really stupid, so I turned them into jackets.
For the surgery and engineering uniforms, I just felt like they needed an extra one. No one can convince me that crawling through those maintenance shafts and doing medicine is clean (ik there are surgery clothes in some episodes but they’re ugggggllyyyy) so I decided that the engineers deserved an extra uniform for when they’re welding or touching a piece of radioactive alien tech or something idk
