can we just take a second to appreciate hydraulic bolt cutters?
first of all, like all bolt cutters, they cut via shear force, not through actual cutting or slicing of the material. the jaws apply off center force so that they just crush their way though until things snap. the hydraulic variety cuts in the same way, where it gets exciting is in how it applies mechanical advantage.
typical bolt cutters utilize mechanical advantage by having long handles with a wide range of motion to move small blades with a narrow range of motion. when force is applied to the handles it really just makes the most out of leverage, magnifying that force tenfold or more into the jaws.
hydraulic cutters take this to the extreme. the handles don't move the blade directly, instead they go into a piston that just barely moves forward with each squeeze of the handles. to fully close the jaws you're gonna have to just keep pumping the handles open and closed, making that piston extend agonizingly slow until it's fully clamped down on the opposite jaw. where typical bolt cutters can exert about 2 tons of force, hydraulic cutters can easily extend into the tens, and at most even the hundreds of tons. needless to say you'll break well before the tool would ever notice.
while these tools are certainly hot from a mechanical perspective let's instead think more about the practical stuff~
like I said, hydraulic cutters move agonizingly slow. the average finger breaks between 35-45 newtons of force, so even though that's on the low end of the cutters potential can you just take a second to appreciate how much control they give you over the bodies limits?
with a sweet thing tied to a chair you could really just toy with those handles. show her exactly how slowly those jaws can close on her poor fingers as they're clamped harder and harder and harder between the jaws. you could legitimately make it take hours before you get that first rewarding snap. how much more will you have to move those handles before you get a second or a third? once the bone is pulverized how long do you think it'll take to fully server a digit? how much do you think you can draw it out? can you imagine the poor thing just strapped in place, waiting for hours and hours with the occasional scream or whimper as those jaws close just a little bit more? and how every time the exhaustion catches up with her and she starts drifting off to sleep can you imagine just how little movement of the handles will it take to make her painfully awake again? girls have oh so many fingers, surely she won't miss a few...
I just really can't imagine a more efficient way to slowly torture something with such a small amount of effort. the brain is oh so good at generating stress and dread to torture itself with, and the real beauty in this is how much time your poor victim has to reflect on the predicament they're finding themselves in. obviously there are faster ways to remind a girl that her body is not her own, but if you saw a flower beginning to bloom would you really have the nerve to tell it to move faster??? wine isn't made overnight, some things just need to be given the time to be excruciatingly slow in order to get the sweetest results~
