I'd like to make it clear that this is not a Friede hate post. What I am truly frustrated at is the narrative decisions that warped his character into something unlikeable to me. He had a lot of potential on this arc, but it got thrown away.
Ranting under the line, you have been warned.
Friede just let his found family believe that he was dead just for the writers to turn it into a joke at the end, and that just feels so wrong to me. We saw the emotional effect of seeing Friede fall and thinking he was gone took on the crew, especially Orla. But the only one who actually expresses anger at Friede is Cap, in a scene that kind of feels like itās supposed to be funny.
LIām sorry, there is NO good reason for Friede to have not contacted the crew as soon as he got out of Rakua. He could have chased after the Brave Asagui, he could have called any of them at any time, he still had his phone. He could have called Professor Lucca, or literally anyone. He could have gotten in contact with Geeta through Steven. But he didn't.
This situation feels very similar to Valka from the HTTYD franchise. It damages their character and muddies our view of them, because there were people who loved, and cared about them, who thought they were dead, and they never made the effort to reach out. Granted, Friedeās situation is even worse than Valkaās to me because it feels like checking on his crew and kids to know if they made it out safe and letting them know that he was alive and well never even crossed his mind. Like he genuinely forgot.
But let's be honest. How in the world do you forget to get in contact with your family after you went through a near death situation that they witnessed? If I were the RVT I would take Friede to take a brain scan ASAP, there is no way he doesn't have a serious memory problem.
And yes. I know it's a recurring joke on the show. But it stopped being funny when the situation became so serious.
Also, itās ridiculous to say that Roy gathered the RVT back together when Liko and Dot were literally there the entire time??? What do you mean? Why does Roy get to be the leader, and battle Friede in a climactic battle while Dot and Liko, the other two protagonists who were there every single step of the way doing just as much important things as Roy did, just watch by the sidelines?
I also dislike that Friede got two megas, Roy has a mega, Ult has two megas, and the girls have NOTHING. Liko, Roy and Dot are supposed to be a trio, the soul, the heart and the brains. And it just doesn't feel that way anymore. And Friede really was acting like an ass during the second episode. He left these guys in the dark for a year, yells at them when they want him to take his post back (one I don't really think he deserves after these two episodes), and then leaves again immediately, leaving Cap so that Roy may continue to be the Ash rip-off he has been cursed to be by the narrative.
He could have been a prisoner to rescue, so that the kids could protect him like he had once protected them. He could have been a brainwashed enemy, so that the kids would actually have stakes when battling him with their new power.
Iāve always had complicated feelings about Friede. I heavily dislike the way he treated Amethio in the first seasons, but overall, to fulfill his narrative role well. He was a mentor and father figure that the kids could look up to and strive to be like. But now that the kids are at his level (or at least Roy is, because Liko and Doy are never given the chance to battle him), what role does he have in the story?
I liked this book. lots of fun interactions bewteen the caracthers.
I kind of feel bad for Bramble right now, but I absolutely dispise Tigerheart. He is my least favotire carather of WC and this book makes me hate him even more. The sheer disrespect the shows Tawnypelt all book is infuriating. I just hope he dies. Like, falls off a cliff and breaks his neck kind of death, where StarnClan can't revive him.
Also, since Tawny has been thinking about if she would be a good leader, and she mentions not planing to retire any time soon, I think it would be neat if Tiger and Clover died so she could become leader.
Now, on Crowfeather. I will not be surprised if he doesn't die. What i think will happen is either: one, he does not die in fall, but gets a vision from Starclan and tells it to the patrol before passing away, or two, he is alive and the patrol has to drag him back to the lake and he will probrably spend the rest of the book uncouncious. The first option is my prefered one. I'm not really intrested in Crowstar
Who would be WindClan's new deputy? I have no doubt in my mind they'll pick Breezepelt, but if I had to choose, i would put Heathertail. But let's be real, there is no way in hell that they would not pick Breezepelt
Who would be the SkyClan deputy of Hawkeing becomes leader? I don't really know, but my favorite options as Plumwillow (they were friends in his Super Edition and that is enought for me), Macgver (for obvious reasons) and Bellaleaf (also for obvious reasons)

Overall: good book! Starlingpaw is really funny, and i really enjoyed the relation of Bramble with Tawny and Jay with Moon.
This took a bit longer to make, so I'm posting it late. I was gonna do Asha, Sal and Ravi, but it felt wrong to leave the ED girls out. They all have color that I associate them with, so it was rather easy to pick the pallets.
First OCs - LightningStorm, PurpleLeaf and CheetaHeart
LightningStorm was my very first WC caracther (I have a few human one that came before), but she was part of a diferrent story with diferent Clans than her current version. Her desing was also a bit diferent. So, I decided that, for this one, It would be fun to redraw one of my very first digital drawings of cats, all the way back to 2020, along with her foster sister, PurpleLeaf and CheetaHeart.

Didnāt want to put this piece with the other outaded desings, mostly because there is an specific tag for it, but also because I'm really pround of it. Gotta love Burnet, she is one of my favorite caracthers
Went a little out of order here, I just really wanted to draw this piece, it has been in my head for WEEKS. I wish I could ramble about Ember, but they are a walking spoiler for the lore of Eclipse Valley, so, I'll have to content in just trowing out of context scenes around.
I didnāt want to repeat any caracthers for this chalenge, but the idea for this piece showed up in my mind and I just could not resist. I'm really happy with how the background turned out, it kind of looks like fire, witch works very well for the lore and symbolism for this piece.
This is the first time I draw these six all together. I really liked how it turned out, and I really want to find a way to put them all in a scene together. Probably wont be possible for spoiler reasons, but they are quite the fun bunch

I will not get in details about this pic, cause it gets too deep into spoiler territory,but while drawing this I realized that Latte living would have changed a LOT about Asha, Ravi and Sal's backstory. Maybe I will explore this AU more in the future. For now, just have Nova and Luna actually getting along for once
