Old Habits

A lot of people say their grandparents are the only true love they know. This is because you only know details about the end of the story. It wasn't common for women to leave households back then even during infidelity / mental or physical abuse. Men completely ruled relationships. And this isn't true for all but most of our grandparents went through very normal hard times we see today and stayed together because it was expected by society. A lot of house wives were drunks or pill heads to cope, or just completely focused on the kids. The only thing I get from past generations relationships is that If you stay long enough youll eventually get old and not care about sex or have energy to fight and run around as much... then it seems cute to hold hands in the park and feed pigeons once dementia has made you forget about all the cheating and arguments. The past repeats. We just now live in a time women/men aren't expected to stay in a bad relationship. And technology/celebrities/marketing has given us a billion reasons to feel what we have isn't good enough even when it is. Love isn't supposed to prosper in that environment. And magically... sometimes it still does. Selection and standards are more important than ever. Pick a best friend that'll never disrespect you in a way you can't recover from. And fight the world together

When I was in kindergarten, I almost got married to a woman named Felicia. At nap time we'd get our sleeping mats out of our cubby holes and go lay down. The teacher would turn off the lights and I'd crawl across the room to kiss her goodnight. I stayed with her until fourth grade. I made a dandelion ring and had gotten comfortable sharing my snack pack with her ... Even the chocolate swirl one. Then ..... I caught her kissing my friend Bo by the see saw. A perfect backdrop representation of the fast ups and downs of a young romance. Little did Felicia know, this was the same year I'd teach myself to back flip out of the swing.
