“Well, it ain’t too bad once ya get used ta it, really.” Clay rests one hand against her chin. “Its really interestin’ even if it is a bit o’ a pain.” She sighs. Last time, she also fell under the Ringmaster’s spell. At least she spent a great deal of the time feeling ill. This time though, she felt perfectly healthy, (un)fortunately. “I wonder if bein’ in this crazy place has softened me up a bit.”

"I'll take your word for it." Kamek said, quirking an eyebrow. It was good that it wasn't too uncomfortable for the victims, he supposed...

"How long until it wears off, do you think?"

And that was when Clay noticed her Koopa bro (yes I just used that term). She was torn between hiding and saying hello. The thought of once again seeing a friend she was almost certain had left far outweighed that of the utter embarrassment. So, the cowgirl walked up to her friend and tipped her hat in greeting. “Ah, howdy, Kamek!” She says, still not used to her now feminine voice. “Its me, Clay! Just, ah…female, now. Strange, huh?”

Hearing his name, Kamek looked up to see an unknown yet strangely familiar woman standing before him. Just as he was about to ask how she knew him, she continued on, and his jaw promptly fell loose.

"Clay? But-- wh--" He shut his mouth and closed his eyes. Obviously, it was the Ringmaster playing tricks. Despite the time that had passed, the memories of the previous debacle were still as fresh as ever. It was strange, though... Both then and now, Kamek had slipped through the spell's cracks. Not that he was complaining, of course. Smiling ruefully, he looked back up at the ex-cowboy and said, "I can't say I envy your predicament..."

Of course, Barnaby himself had been away, inactive, for quite some time. The changes that’ve taken place in the carnival— more of such— were pretty much out of Barnaby’s radar. Such changes occurred to him— ahem… her. Figure a bit curvier, and lumps occupying her chest, the once-male made herself visible to Kamek, oblivious to her changes.

Except maybe her voice, but she’s been feeling ill prior…

Kamek looked up from the ground upon hearing an unfamiliar voice, and was greeted with the sight of an equally unfamiliar woman. Had he really been speaking that loud...? He sighed and shook his head.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Miss, it's... nothing of consequence."

"Ridiculous...!" Kamek spat to himself as he stormed aimlessly though the trailer area. "Barely a couple of days..." Yes, it hadn't been long after he awoke from his extended torpor that he fell back into the very same. It was a worrying occurrence, and it hadn't exactly done his overall mood much good.

Now, at that moment, something very strange was going on around the circus, that much was plain to see, but Kamek was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he hadn't given it much attention...

“I’m inclined to believe that, actually, though as long as I remain here, my primary duty will be to reverse what it is he’s done.” 

Well, at least it wasn’t too much of a surprise to hear about the Ringmaster’s own overzealous attitude towards his crimes. He was certainly an eccentric one, and that wasn’t really anything new to Naoto; though she didn’t accept it, she did understand that there might be little she could do for the time being.

“Whether you believe anything will change or not is your own decision, of course.”

"If you really wish to struggle futilely against the inevitable, that's entirely your choice. You're hardly the first to refuse to accept the position you're in." He shrugged. He wouldn't try to stop her; it wasn't really his business, anyway. Reality would hit soon enough.

"I wish you the best in your pursuits... however hopeless they may be."

"...Strange. It seems I've been sleeping for a long time." Kamek sat at the foot of his trailer, speaking quietly to himself.

"I wonder what caused it... Well, at least I'm awake now, I suppose."

“A thousand…? Are there really that many people here?” And it looked so vacant, too. Either the place was a lot larger than it looked or she was seriously misjudging what such a large crowd would look like. Moreover, it made her agitated that so many people had been kidnapped and there was still no defined way of escaping.

“… Then I’ll let things play out how they wish. There are more important things to be doing than fussing over something like this.”

"I wouldn't be at all surprised if it'd reached that point by now. And I doubt the Ringmaster'll ever really be satisfied, no matter how many people he abducts." He sighed. Sooner or later, he'd inevitably find more people he cared about in this place, and his feelings about that were... mixed.

"You can do what you want... nothing's about to change."

“Ah… Yes, that would make sense, however… I fear I may feel awfully out of place if I were to introduce myself when everyone else is fatigued. Nonetheless, it would do well to meet them as quickly as possible.” She rubbed at the corners of her eyes, groaning inwardly. So many decisions to make — not that they were especially important.

“I just hope they don’t mind the intrusion.”

"Perhaps, but I'd think it would be preferable to just blindly 'asking around' in a place with nearly a thousand inhabitants. Certainly less time-consuming." He had done enough searching for needles in haystacks with the million and one super special items involved in his boss's plots.

"Either way, I'm sure there won't be a problem."

“You have a point… I suppose a better course of action would be to meet these ‘roommates’ of mine, though I have no idea how to go about doing that. Perhaps I should simply ask around.” Because it wasn’t strange at all to walk up to people she didn’t really know and ask for more people she didn’t really know, not at all. 

“I believe another thank you is in order, Kamek-san. I really do appreciate your assistance.”

"Well, you'll all have to sleep eventually, so why not just wait around the trailer when it gets late and catch them there?" He wondered if it'd be a good idea to introduce himself to his own roommates, but decided he'd done well enough without going out of his way. "Like I said, it doesn't really matter, but it's up to you."
