july 16th 2025: i left a testing center in philly dry heaving, unable to speak, unable to process what i had just done. i took my NCLEX, i drove down alone, not telling anyone but my little brother and my best friend i was going. my test shut off at 150 questions, not 75 not 85 like my peers, 150. i knew i failed. i couldn’t even cry. i got to my car, which was parked downtown philly on the street with a paid meter ticket that was 1 1/2 hours over its time. remarkably i didn’t get a ticket, i drove 5hrs home alone, no music playing because i had convinced myself i failed.

july 16th 2026: i’m preparing my patient for their monthly ECT appointment, as a nurse in my local psychiatric hospital.

moral of the story: DONT YOU EVER FUCKING QUIT! your path may not look like someone else’s but it’s YOURS.
