Tough competition at Hollywood Walk of Fame
We took the Fluffy Booth and our Indiegogo campaign to Hollywood Boulevard Wednesday and Thursday of this week. There was, unsurprisingly, a lot of activity on the famed sidewalk of stars.
Anna (producer) and Micah (writer/director/producer) had to battle for the tourists' attention with street merchants of all varieties.

Post by Tribute to Fluffy - The Movie.
Luckily, many showed interest in our filmmaking aspirations, including a Minny Mouse character who was, "just chilling and eating pretzels" by tucking them under her helmet (gasp!).
As with our experience in Venice last week, the lady of the group attracted interest from an intriguing cross-section of society. One man with a particular kind of dental strategy asked if he could be our Line Producer. Micah said that it was Ana's job already, but what advice did he have? "Pimp out the cast on Craigslist." Stay tuned for that!
Later, a producer for "ABC" approached the pair of filmmakers asking if they would be cool with answering some questions about music and pop culture. They said yes, and out popped a Borat-esque reporter to interview Micah. He started with some basics, and then asked what Micah thought of Drake's performance at the ESPYs. Micah said he had missed it but liked Drake, to which the reporter replied, "I can't stand Drake" because "he's an annoying Canadian with bad music" etc., etc.
It was at this point that Micah noticed the reporter's beard was glued onto his face. Something clicked, and before he knew it, Micah burst out, "wait a minute, you are Drake!" The reporter (Drake!) freaked out and RAN for it.
Looks like Micah didn't make the cut for TV last night, but hey, we made contact with a superstar, so not bad for a day's work!

Fluffy Booth debuts in Venice Beach
Fluffy booth had a good weekend promoting our campaign at the Beach!
Thanks to the support of Bai, Micah (writer/director/producer) and Kristen (actress) had delicious drinks to hand out those who stopped to say hello on the famous Venice Boardwalk!
In addition to the regular and celebrated Venice weirdnesses, some notable moments include:
Competing with the loud pizza guy next to us who was convinced our film was either a Roger Rabbit remake or a tribute to Bugs Bunny
The man who, upon learning Micah and Kristen were not "together," implored our lovely actress to "kiss the bunny then"
Meeting great people from around the world!
A BIG thank you to everyone who has donated on Indiegogo so far, and to our sponsors: Lyft, Bai, Flappers and King Bail Bond Agency.

"How To Make An Indie Film" web series released!
Since the beginning of the Tribute to Fluffy journey, the crew has been working tirelessly to get the project funded.
One important piece of the plan is the "How To Make An Indie Film" web series, which premiered on YouTube. The 5-episode series is about the process of trying to get our independent movie made, and will chronicle the journey from the initial production meetings all the way through to the present. These entertaining webisodes will be useful and informative to both aspiring filmmakers and the common lay-person, while making people laugh and building our audience for the film.
Micah Chats! Part 2: "Fluffy" featured in "Hollywood Hustle" documentary
Q: It looks like you had an exciting experience the other day! What was going on with that interview?
A: So our buddy Scotty--aka Scott Tipton, the sound mixer for our upcoming web series "How To Make An Indie Film"-- is making a documentary called Hollywood Hustle. It's a catalogue of interviews from entertainment freelancers in LA. He emailed me about it a few weeks ago, and I told him, "I'm not a typical freelancer" because my life right now is Tribute to Fluffy, whereas most people go from project to project. But he thought it would make for a different perspective.
Q: So does that mean you represented Fluffy in the interview?
A: Oh yeah! I definitely spent a lot of the interview talking about our project, most importantly how getting Fluffy made has been my 'Hollywood Hustle.' By that I mean, it's been real trying to get this movie made and you know that!
Q: When will it come out?
A: They're still shooting interviews, and I imagine editing will take some time so that they can make it as good as possible. I saw some footage of my interview though, and the interviews he cut together in his trailer (see below). It's pretty good! Very proud of Scotty.

A New Year for Fluffy! Q&A with director/writer/producer Micah Cyrus
--
Q: The first crowdfunding campaign for your film Tribute to Fluffy didn’t have the outcome you were looking for. How was your morale after the Kickstarter campaign ended?
A: I try my best to approach everything with an open mind. Although we missed our goal on Kickstarter, we learned so much that we've been able to incorporate into our new crowdfunding plan. I recently received a sound piece of advice: with failure comes wisdom, and wisdom is exactly what we needed to build this new campaign! I'm confident that we'll do well.
Q: So what’s next for Fluffy at this point?
A: We have some good stuff in store including both a new crowdfunding campaign that will be hosted on indiegogo.com and a YouTube series that will accompany the campaign. I'd rather not disclose the premise of the web series, but we're almost at the one-year mark since the initial development of Tribute to Fluffy, and I can tell you that we're going to look into what we've been doing so far.
Q: You just got back from The Sundance Film Festival! What lessons did you learn as a filmmaker working at the largest indie film fest in the US?
A: One of the best pieces of advice I received was not to be afraid of the time it takes to make a feature. I've produced 5 short films so far and those have been a cakewalk in comparison to getting this feature off the ground and into production. I started off with the belief that, after the script was completed, it would take just months to get funding for our project. I've learned that it takes a lot of time and patience, accompanied by constant dedication and hard work.
Q: And, I have to ask… did you see any awesome celebrities??
A: Ha! I actually did and the best was my encounter with Aaron Paul. I was walking down Main Street and saw a lady wearing some fancy boots. Naturally, I complimented her on the boots and immediately she turns around and says, "Aaron, why didn't you compliment me?" I looked back and there was Aaron Paul, just strolling along. I'm a huge Breaking Bad fan so this was exciting for me.
