She was beautiful in a way that Miranda stood in awe, well, rapture or fascination over the former - not a traditional sense but a powerful one, by the way her muscles corded about her arms or the cut of her hair. The woman, so poised, held a presence in the way her chest heaved and dark eyes marveled and beheld things. It wasn’t oft that the former operative met women who she could classify in her own caliber.
"Miranda Lawson," she spoke, a hand falling upon a wide hip as she approached the ebony decked woman, keeping her distance. Certain people were wary of approachers, lest she find herself in a more… unpleasant situation, the biotic figured it best to keep back a hair.
[ ♥ ] It was a rather wondrous site to be certain, a distinct kind of marvel than the Forgotten City or the sites way above the Golden Saucer. The technology appeared far more advanced than that of the old Midgar, allegedly the most sophisticated city on the Planet. Soft clicks of heels caught the barmaids attention, pulling crimson eyes away from the abundance of intriguing individuals and unusual machinery. Although, upon glancing the woman's way she had to reconsider her thought, as she was most definitely the most interesting individual in the vicinity, certainly the most beautiful.
"Oh! I, I hope I'm not intruding? I was just admiring all this hi-tech."
"But it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Lawson, Tifa Lockhart." A small inclination of her crown in acknowledgement.
As much as he enjoyed being more than just the let down brother since acquiring his powers, this moment of commonality was more highly desired than he first thought. Her presence was familiar, knowing he’d never met her but she had an aura that was reminiscent of someone. He couldn’t place who but he wouldn’t shy away from her company. "You do realise having me lead the way is probably gonna get us lost?" His sense of direction had never been on the mark. "But I guess I have a few places in mind to show you" deciding that winging it was best, that’s what he always did.
Sounds familiar? So she wasn’t completely out of the loop then, or she’d at least experienced something similar. The look on her face suggested that it was better not to prod any further, some things were better left unsaid. Perhaps if he got to know her better he’d ask, maybe he could even provide some condolence. Whatever she’d meant she quickly perked back up, hitting the nail on the head. It wasn’t hard to guess by the way he’d spoken earlier but he had to give her credit. "It’s kinda obvious isn’t it? But thanks, nice to know I don’t look terrifying" a nonchalant shrug followed at her compliment, however his attitude shifted slightly at her next remark. He hadn’t expected it.
"Really now?" Brows raised, understanding she was just being friendly but he couldn’t not tease her a little for the comment. "You’re just full of charm aren’t you?—"
"C’mon let’s go before you make me blush" obvious jest in his tone as he gestured for her to follow. Standing around in the open as they were wasn’t exactly safe.
[ ♥ ] "As I said better to be lost with someone than alone," she recalled. There was nothing quite as scary as being in an unfamiliar city by yourself. Of course she'd encountered far greater dangers that resulted in more terrifying consequences, but she still preferred to have some guidance. Even if the guide was expected to get them lost. "Then carry on" bobbing her crown in affirmation. She was glad that he didn't decide to prod further into her statement, as much as she lamented her past she refused to let it rule her. She would live her life and make up for those mistakes, in hopes it would be enough. That's all she could do.
"Just a bit, the way you spoke gave it away and of course you don't, you're as human as I am." What reason did these people have to fear him? Had someone of his kind, these bioterrorists, done something for the majority to hate them so? "Why are people so afraid?" Blurting out the inquiry a little abruptly. Nevertheless, she instantaneously became distracted and a little mortified at his comment.
"I- no! That's not what I meant," she was far from charming in the sense he was likely speaking of. She stood agape before catching up to stroll at his side. "I didn't mean it like..." desisting her explanation when she realized he'd been joking. She resisted punching him in the arm, in its stead she crossed her arms over her chest, fabricating the oncoming smile with irritation. "Very funny."
A growl left him. "I’m not going to be hiding." He almost spat, some first standing in sudden irritation, although it was quickly quelled. He was one for drastic moods wings, that was for sure. Ears were flattened though, a sure sign that no matter what happened at present, he was disgruntled. "I’m not a simple creature that needs protecting." Obviously he took offense.
"Point me to the nearest city and we’ll call it a day." That’s all he wanted, plain and simple.
[ ♥ ] The creature took offense to something that had no intention of being that way. She'd offered shelter and nothing more, where was the offense in that? But she wasn't going to argue, as concerned as she was it was unlikely she'd change his mind.
"I only asked if you wanted a place to stay, I didn't mention anything about protecting you." She disliked aforementioned rudeness as her once soft features vanished, replaced by a look of discontent. "You're in the nearest city, the closest city to here is Junon and it's no short walk."
outofpunches: I'm very sorry for not posting as much this week, work has been rather busy but I will work on things now. I've also been told the follow button and dashboard button on my page aren't showing up? I think it's my theme and I don't know how to go about fixing it. D:
People relied on her, so who did she rely on? Unless she was some sort of super human who didn’t need such comforts. And he highly doubted that. "No it isn’t but to me it sounds like it never is, you’re all about what everyone else wants and needs, I’ve not known you long and I know that." Honestly she made him look like a selfish bastard.
"I’m pretty sure whoever it is that relies on you so much can manage an hour without you just…be a little spontaneous," a nonchalant shrug followed to suggest she could choose whatever she wanted and it wouldn’t bother him. It was worth a try at least.
[ ♥ ] She had her friends to rely on, but she had never been good at expressing herself to others. Besides it was so trivial, she didn't want to burden them with petty problems like not having any vacation time. "There's nothing wrong with that, helping others makes me happy," so in a way she was doing it for herself. She understood what he was implying of course.
She admitted that just being spontaneous for once did sound inviting. While she was glad for the peace she sometimes did miss the thrill of adventuring around the Planet, of not knowing what lay around the next corner.
"Alright let's be spontaneous, only for an hour though okay?"
This was just great. Neku wasn’t sure how he’d ended up here, but it didn’t matter. He was completely lost. These streets, the buildings too…nothing seemed familiar at all. ‘Guess I’m not in Shibuya anymore.’ he thought to himself as he made his way towards one of the buildings. As much as he hated asking for help, maybe just this once wouldn’t hurt, especially if it meant figuring out where he was.
Neku pushed open a door, only to be greeted a lady standing behind the counter. ‘Bar…?’ A bar wasn’t exactly what he’d planned to walk into, but whatever worked. "Uh, not really. But—maybe you can tell me where I am?”
[ ♥ ] It was surprising that the boy didn't know where he was. All across the Planet most knew of Midgar, or the newly renamed city of Edge. How could they not? The most technologically advanced city ever created, you'd have to be living in a cave to find it's name unfamiliar. She supposed there were all kinds of people and possibly some of them just chose to ignore the ever changing world they lived in. Kept themselves away from the technology and mako, they were probably better off.
"You're in Edge, it's strange to find someone who's never heard of it" a little curious to know where the boy hailed from. Whether he intentionally came in here seeking information or by chance. It was well known that bars were a good source of information and she could most likely answer any of his queries. "This is 7th Heaven in case you missed the sign, I take it your lost?"
"You serious?" She was definitely serious. Rubbing at his temples before making up his mind on how to remedy this situation. "Then make time right now otherwise you’ll probably explode before you turn fifty, I don’t think you’re a prude but c’mon." Unable to imagine living his life without living for himself every so often. He admired that she was so devoted to others but really. After a brief moment of contemplation he swiftly took her wrist into his hand, "I have an idea, think you can spare an hour?"
[ ♥ ] She had responsibilities, people to look after and things to do. She had to make up for past mistakes. "It's not always about what I want, people rely on me, I can't let them down" who was going to look after Marlene and Denzel if she wasn't around?
"H-Hey wait a minute!" Genuinely surprised as he clasped onto her wrist. "If I'm going somewhere I need to make sure someone checks the bar while I'm gone, and I need to tell Marlene to look after Denzel" was her verbose answer.
"It doesn’t count if it’s related to your job, jeez" yup she was a certified workaholic. "When was the last time you went somewhere that wasn’t involved with work?" Expecting her to say never. She came across as the type that was too generous, meaning she did little for herself.
"I’m pretty sure, I’ll ask you another time" waving his hand dismissively, a sign that she didn’t need to prod further. His suggestion had been a pretty farfetched one any way.
[ ♥ ] "Well I–" halting her sentence as she tried to bring up any recent memories of taking a break or going somewhere just for fun.
"Not recently, a lot has happened in the past few years there's been no time for luxuries like holidays, you make me sound like a prude." Plump lips forming into a pout, if she had the time she would. "If you say so" seeing she wasn't going to get anymore out of him.
"I’m guessing you don’t vacation often," she was probably a workaholic either by nature or to just to keep herself busy, maybe even both. "Yeah, yeah I think I’m over it now," waving a hand dismissively, followed by a low chuckle of his own. "Hm? Nah it was nothing trust me I was just teasing."
[ ♥ ] "No not often, but I don't mind much, the job gets me outside the city on occasion so it's fine really." But a vacation away with her friends wouldn't be shunned if the opportunity arose.
"You sure? If it was something I could help with I wouldn't mind," a part of her curious about what his offer would have been.
"Maybe you should be, might get more people to work for you that way. An angle—?"
"I’m honestly a little hurt you’d think so but no it’s not alcohol. Actually forget it I’ll help you whenever, completely free of charge being the kind soul that I am an’ all."
[ ♥ ] "Trust me I can handle everything on my own right now, you get used to the workload after so many years." Failing to hold in a light snigger as he pretended to be hurt by her words. "I'm sure you'll get over it, and it's not that I'm ungrateful for the offer but what were you going to ask for?"
"Y’know you’re not doing a very good job getting me on aboard here but of course I’m just a good samaritan who decided to help you, not everyone does things just to get something in return. Hm…but there is one thing you could do."
[ ♥ ] "I'm a barmaid not a salesman. Any way I'm still not convinced, you probably have an angle on this."
"That's true, not everyone is but it's hard to come by nowadays. Alright then what is it? If it's free alcohol for working then that's a no-go."
"All right I get it, it’s family friendly I was just sayin’. But uh…how much money we talking about here? Of course I would just help you out of the goodness of my heart."
[ ♥ ] "Well that depends how much work you do, I'd pay you by the hour. But if you want an estimate not very much I'm afraid. The goodness of your heart huh? No strings attached? People usually don't do something for nothing."

[ ♥ ] The man looked a little worse for wear, saying little was likely an understatement. Whatever kind of trouble he may have been involved in 7th Heaven was a place for all kinds of wanderers, regardless of their pasts. As long as they didn't start trouble in her bar then she wouldn't turn anyone away.
"What can I get you? We've got a discount on all liquors today," she asked with the same welcoming smile she offered to all new and old patrons.
He had originally just offered for the sake of sounding polite, not that he wasn’t generally well mannered, he wasn’t that bad. Even if his relatives didn’t always agree with his life choices they taught him to not be a complete jerk to everyone and anyone. Besides it was apparent she wasn’t with them, so he had no reason to be hostile towards her, plus she did have a point. "Guess you have a point," pretending to think about her proposal, not necessarily realising that she could end up getting hurt in his presence, considering he was somewhat of a wanted man. "Wouldn’t want us both getting lost now would we?" Unable to prevent the following toothy grin.
Her reply was expected, on the outside that’s what it looked like. Big bad bioterrorists versus the heroic Department of Unified Protection. Her wording made it seem like she was unfamiliar with what bioterrorists even were, she wasn’t just outside the loop she’d never even heard of the loop. "Yeah y’know people with powers," doing a little gesture with his hands. "It’s a nice idea and all, I’m all for protecting people…all kinds of people" after all he was still a human, he had more humanity than they did at least. "But they stopped caring about people the moment they started shooting" arming themselves at what they didn’t really understand. So he shot back.
A light chuckle passed as she played along with his little charade, half expecting her to frown at him. His playful attitude wasn’t always taken so well, especially from his more serious older sibling.
[ ♥ ] She was delighted to see he was agreeable, she hadn't been fond of wandering about without direction. His smile was infectious as she found her own widening, there was something quite goofy about his but she could tell he was quite the smirker. "No we wouldn't," she acknowledged "how about you lead the way? It seems you're a little more familiar with this place than I am."
People with powers, that wasn't anything unusual to her. People often used Materia and other unconventional means to fight. So if these people he spoke of, hunted those with such powers then it was feasible that she wasn't as safe as she first thought. And by the sounds of it, he too possessed powers of some kind. "When you put it like that...well it sounds familiar" it was a little too close to home for her personally. AVALANCHE was supposed to protect the people of Midgar, but instead she used if for her own selfish reasons and people got hurt because of it. Now she would spend her days making up for it, to atone for past sins.
"So you're one of these people? A bioterrorist, you don't look like a terrorist to me." Leaning forward with hands connected behind her back. "I don't think a terrorist would have such a nice smile right?" Trying her best not to dampen either of their spirits. It was pleasant to be around someone more lighthearted, she'd been spending most of her time alone or with Marlene and Denzel so his playful demeanor was most welcome.
