I really enjoy reading your pieces! You liked one of mines & it led me to your page. I strive to have poems like yours. Any feed back on the one you did read? It's started of with "11 months..." If that helps.
Iâm a fan of prose/poetry hybrids and I think that particular work of yours is one of those. I think it is already good as it is, and I wouldnât change a thing.
As for having poems like mine, if you look at my writing, I am quite experimental with form. Some are just all about rhythm, some bordering on essay, some cannot be read unless as a gif animation. Style wise, I am inspired primarily by Marshall McLuhan. If that is the kind of style you want to develop, I can help.
If you want to better your writing, my suggestion is to try to read as many poems as you can. Try to understand what poems you like and dissect it like a frog on science class. Ask why you like that particular poem. What made it work? What made it stand out?
Then, be a ruthless editor. Revisit your poems. Question them. Criticize them. Ask people to evaluate them. Then revise them. Then revise them. Then revise them again.
Shine on the niggas that lost you baby girl, even if that nigga is me.
I hope you keep pushing. I know itâs hard and that there are a million things going on around you but stay focused. Stay passionate about where youâre headed, even if you donât know exactly where that is yet. At least youâre moving. Sometimes, you find where youâre supposed to be by simply choosing a direction and taking a step. Be good to the people along the way. Keep true to what you love and the kind of life you want to live. Keep pushing, you could be almost there and not even know it.
