âThat would be appreciated. The Leh Foox one.â She said tossing the map to the ground tired of looking at the useless thing. There were too many unknown streets. She peered around her cautiously eyeing passing strangers who seemed to pay her no mind. Would any of these people know of her being divergent? No one was in specific colors, or seemed to talk about the factions at all. Maybe this was her lucky day and she was safe here. But she wasnât going to place her cards on it just yet. âIâm Tris.â She introduced herself watching him closely of his reaction to her name.Â
âLe Faux.â He correct automatically before heading in the right direction. âIâm living there as well and so do countless others. Just follow me.â It seems like his feet direct him the way by default at this point, focusing on everything else around them. It surprised him that she introduced herself, her name not what you heard everyday but certainly not the strangest he ever heard. âNice to meet you. Iâm Lucas.â He nodded once in her direction.
There was no sudden movements on her name. No motion to call arms against her. So maybe she was safe. But she still couldnât trust that to be true. Not completely. âYou too...Lucas.â She nodded at his statement. âDoes anyone know whey we all were brought here?â It was driving her crazy. She needed to figure out what had happened and why she was here. As he continued to walk she starred at him. He was friendly, but not overly kind. Stern showing little emotion aside from what seemed like annoyance. He would have fit in well in Dauntless. âIs there a gym here? At these apartments?âÂ

âIâm fine. Â My shirt on the other hand, not so much.â Â Dipper replied with a soft sigh, pulling the dripping fabric away from his abdomen. Â âYeah, I know. Â Thatâs why this is so upsetting.â
âOh. Alright. Well... sorry for your shirt...â She said before turning back around with her hands still in her black jacket.Â

âShit what happens between now and then that makes that unnatural. I though people were supposed to evolve forward not backwardsâŠno offense. So, Iâm guessing mutants donât exist where youâre from?â had humans wiped them out? âI have no idea if itâs better. I mean would I live here or go back to â83? 1983, definitelyâ
âHard to say for sure. May never know. Ha. Youâd think. I guess things have a history of repeating themselves. 1983? What was it like?â Saying the date seemed foreign in itself and far from reality. On the word mutants she couldnât help but make a face. âMutants?â She asked dumbfoundedly. âSorry, but I have never heard of... mutants.â

âSo, people hate people for being people? and here I thought the prejudice where Iâm from was bad. Wait, more than one trait? How can everyone just be one thing? I mean I have no idea how I would handle not being both awesome and amazing. Damn, aliens or cockroaches sounds like a much better way for the future to go. Maybe in 5068, eh?. â83. 1983. Yep, I swear like five new people show up everyday. Have no idea where they keep putting everyone. Just another one of the big mysteriesâ
âPretty much sums it up. Ha yeah. Thatâs where I had my problem. You canât it isnât natural. But, it was still considered unnatural and for the safety of others. Which is entirely bullshit. 1983? Wow, well is 2016 better than 1983? This whole place is just one big mystery.â

malia was passing by until she heard someone talking about something, it was very odd. a sigh escaped from her lips and just turned around looking at the other girl that seems a bit new, maybe âyou alright there?â
Tris looked up at the strange expression the woman had before nodding at her map, âYep. Fine. Maps are just stupid. All good. Thanks though.â Maybe she was being to curt but she was beginning to grow extremely frustrated. How was she going to find anyone, much less a comfortable bed. She could sleep on the rocks. At least that was familiar.Â

â2016âł She was definitely far from her time. He was only a few decades, but she wasâŠa lot further than that. Math had never been a strong suit of Peterâs, actually most school wasnât. It was always so slow and boring. He could pull a hundred little pranks and still not be a third of the way done with history class. âChicagoâs still around in 4068? Huh. I figured aliens would have wiped us all out by then. That or giant mutated cockroachesâ
â20...16.â She couldnât save anyone. She wasnât even born yet. Tris could feel the hope in her stomach drop and fall with a splatter. âHa. Something like that. More like everyone hates people being able to think for themselves and establishing more than one trait. Youâre either smart, selfless, kind, honest, or brave. Show more than one and your dead. So nope. No aliens or cockroaches. Just xenophobia which destroys everything anyways. When are you from then? Do you live in these apartments too?âÂ

Yep, just as he thought, she was a newbie. âWell, here, is New York. New York City, if you want to be exact. The place youâre looking for is about ten blocks back that wayâ he made a motion behind him. âWhere are you from? When are you from?â he added the second question on knowing that many, like himself, were either from the past or future.
Tris looked around in confusion. New York? But she had been in Chicago. How? And when he asked what year she was from she just starred blankly at him in confusion. This wasnât possible. Though then again she had battled against forces of the mind so really anything was possible. âChicago...4068. Why? What year is it?â Now she was starting to really care. Had she went back in time? Maybe if she had she could go back and save the others.Â

Tris had ventured aimlessly around in circles for what felt like hours. Chicago hadnât been this difficult then again everywhere sheâd gone had been smaller areaâs in themselves. She sighed turning the map around 90 degrees once more, feeling hopelessly and completely lost. She had no idea how sheâd gone from a desolate and broken down Chicago to an up-beat and lively New York. âUgh. Where are those apartments? My feet havenât hurt this much since dauntless trainingâŠâ Tris sighed as she leaned up against a flickering light post and whipped the trickling sweat away from under her ear.Â
when told that the wasnât like enid was use to, that it wasnât like it had been for the past few years, she had to explore for herself, she had to SEE if it was true. and walking around an entire city, she didnât understand how it could be secured. there were NO walls, noise e v e r y w h e r e, nothing keeping walkers out. something had changed. and upon being stopped, â what apartments ? â enid asked, seeing as the city was full of them.
Tris turned around to find a girl who looked utterly frightening. She watched her for a moment before responding, âThe apartments in this packet. Iâm not entirely sure how I came across it, but it has a key. So, just going with it. Do you have a key?â
âAh-â  Dipper let out a cry as the smoothie heâd been sipping only a moment before spilled all over his shirt.  âAw man, this was my favorite shirtâŠâ
Tris had laid in her bed which was far to soft for her liking and being unable to sleep decided it was best to look around her new home. Maybe Four was around somewhere and sheâd just missed him. Sheâd been walking by when sheâd heard someone call out. Trisâs head shot up with her fists raised, until she caught sight of a guy rubbing smoothie off his shirt. â Oh... are you alright?â She asked feeling sorry for the guy. â Itâs a nice shirt..â She said trying to make some form of apology knowing it wasnât her fault. Transitioning into this strange new world was going to be difficult she could already tell.Â

Turning towards the voice once he caught the mention of the apartments, Lucas eyebrows furrowed a little. âThe apartment building? I can show you the way.â He offered easily, nodding in the direction of it as he awaited an answer. It seemed like he had to show the way every other day anyway.
âThat would be appreciated. The Leh Foox one.â She said tossing the map to the ground tired of looking at the useless thing. There were too many unknown streets. Her ears had caught what the other was saying. A small smile broke on her lips. â I assume Dauntless training is rough?â She asked without thinking. â Sorry, I donât mean to pry. Oh, and the apartments that you are looking for are over there.â pointing in the direction of south of their location.
Tris looked up having not expected someone to be listening to her. âWhat? Yeah, something like that. How did yo-?â She shook her head looking up at the tiny woman and back down at her map in confusion. She looked up at the overhead light laying her head in defeat against the lightpost. Sometimes she truly wondered if she was Erudite. How had she missed something staring her in the face.Â

Peter had been spending more and more time going between the tiny boxing gym and the bar, thanks in large part to the fake i.d heâd acquired. He was headed back to the apartments after getting thrown out of a bar, along with the older man heâd gotten into the fight with. His face sporting some fresh cuts and bruises, when he caught sight of someone familiar. Maybe it wasnât her, thereâd been other girls before that had looked like Tris. However, when he caught the word dauntless he knew. âOh, heeey Stiffy Stiff.â he let out a stifled laugh âYouâre here now, this is fucking fantasticâ
Tris clenched her jaw as her eyes kept to the ground. How? How in the fuck had he appeared there too? Was the world against her? With a deep sigh she looked up with glaring shade, âPeter.â She stood up as the map in her hand crunched under her clenched fists, âHumph, feelings mutual.â Judging by his shaky demeanor and smug fat lip heâd already made himself known to some poor innocent souls. âSo whereâs your friends? Oh, no never mind. You donât have those. My mistake.âÂ

âApartments?â Peter couldnât help but hear the girl speaking to herself as he ran, a slow run for him of course. What had really piqued his interest, though, was the mention of dauntless training. It didnât sound like something that happened in the everyday world. âWhat apartments are you looking for? Thereâs probably over a hundred in the cityâ
Tris looked back at her packet which she still wasnât entirely sure how sheâd acquired. Everything had been so fuzzy since she had gotten there with questions of that alarming curiosity overwhelming her body and mind theyâd both begun to fight back. Tris rubbed her head, âOh, hi. You know I donât think it actually said. Wait....no it was uh... Leh Foox? I think that is how you say it. Do you know if that is anywhere near here? Where ever here is.â The sun had begun to drop below the horizon and she was beginning to grow weary. This guy probably wanted to just steal all her things. But at this point, she would take anyoneâs help no matter the cost of a strangers jaw.Â
I am selfish.
And I am brave.
