How I would set up Jessica Jones season three

So season three will be split into two arcs: Jessica vs Trish and Typhoid Mary.

For the first arc (which will be the first seven episodes), Trish starts her vigilante career, going by the name “Hellcat”. Jessica ignores her at first, until several clients tell her that Trish is too extreme. She’s profiling people and actively disrupts the community, both civilians and the police. Trish is so desperate to be the hero that she’s become sort of a villain by over-policing the streets.

Jessica then steps up and takes Trish down in episode 7. During their fight, Jessica says something along the lines of, “You wanted to be the hero so bad. Guess what. You’re not. You’re the villain.” Trish then retires her Hellcat persona, ashamed of her previous actions.

The second arc is Jessica dealing with the consequences of Trish’s actions. During Trish’s brief vigilante career, she disrupted several businesses that was run by the infamous gangster, Typhoid Mary. In response, Mary destroys Jessica’s office, declaring war on her.

Jessica, Trish, Malcolm, and Jeri find that they can’t fight Mary on their own, forcing them to form a shaky alliance. By the end of the season, Jessica and Trish (going as Hellcat with Jessica’s approval) go up against Mary in a climatic showdown.

The purpose of both arcs is to show Jessica regaining confidence in being a superhero. Season one was about her defeating her abuser. Season two was dealing with her past and existing traumas. Season three should then be about rising up and becoming a hero once again.

I cannot believe I have witnessed with mine own two eyes someone saying everything Trish did from moment was to try to get powers and none of it was done for Jessica. Like. You can absolutely admit she was selfish (and maybe we should stop grossly vilifying her ambition, even if it is coded in a problematic way, but anytime any woman knows they want something everyone goes HOW DARE THEY) and you’re welcome to bring up that she’s a rich white female mowing down everybody in the way of her ambitions, but don’t discount that she cares about and for Jessica and her desire for powers has genuine altruistic motive. Also she wants to be a hero because it makes her feel good about herself. Is that healthy? No. But fucking seriously, stop crucifying her for wanting to do something that makes her feel good about herself. That’s most of her motive for wanting to save people. She’s a human being and, like all other human beings, she just wants to be okay with herself. Does she go about it in a healthy way? No. But she’s multifaceted and we all make mistakes.

Jessica Jones is amazing and I live for Jessica and Trish being sisters. I would watch a whole show dedicated to the time they lived together before Kilgrave. I want to see Trish coming up with hero names or outfits once a week, only to have Jessica turn it down moments later, and Trish just grins and shoots out another idea.

I want to see Trish bring up Jessica’s family to try and get her to face what happened, but Jessica avoids it by jumping out the window, only to return two hours later with a pizza and a story about how she saved someone’s life on the way back without dropping the pizza, because she knows Trish wants her to be a hero and she wants Trish to be proud. And they sit there late at night and eat the cold pizza and Jessica listens while Trish talks about how many people she could save and all the things she wants to fix in the world.

And we know Jessica is thinking her sister is stupid to think she can fix everything, but she just sort of smiles and nods. Because while she knows she can’t actually do it, she knows she really wants to and that’s why she loves her. And I want to see Jessica smile for real even when Trish drags her shopping because she still loves life and loves hanging out with her sister. And despite all they’ve been through together and alone they still have hope.

I want to see them still have hope.

That was a longer explanation that I had expected, but, yeah, I want that.
