Let me say this: I am a hair colorist and an educator as well. One of my old assistants was with me and we couldn't find a toner at any store that I wanted to turn my hair grey. So she suggested that she would treat me to go here as she used to work for one. Once I told Maria The "Manager" I was a colorist she started bragging about how she used to own a salon in Boston and to be honest that eased me a bit. I look around and one of my old students was working there as well so I really felt like this was going to be a great experience. Well guys she turned my hair blue. Not cool blue, some kind of ugly navy patchy blue. So up until this point I was letting her do her thing, she tried to give me the excuse untrained colorist give to their clients "it will rinse out!" I am black and I don't wash my hair everyday. So I instructed her to clarify my hair under the dryer and she got the biggest attitude. I pulled her to the side and said "look, don't be defensive, I am a hairstylist too so work with me." I have a huge interview tomorrow with a big hair company and my hair is blue, yellow, and grey. My assistant was pissed, she told them she wasn't paying. And guess what Maria did? She called the police and told them two black girls were running out without paying. (My assistant went to go get my partner because Maria was taking to long) I was in disbelief when I heard her say, "we knew they weren't going to pay anyway" they already had my plate number and everything. Lied about my size in order to make the officers on high alert all the while I'm sitting there calmly trying to still figure out why she was calling the cops because she can't do hair. But get this, the person refusing to pay was my WHITE assistant. I spent two weeks correcting my color and I will probably have to cut it off! She overcharged for my service and didn't even finish my hair. The cops took us outside to laugh at the lady.
