She chuckled a little, “I thought I was the only one, there’s a reason I get most of my case work put onto my iPad.” she replied with a grin, “I heard it’s all the rage now, coffee stains are the new black.” she joked though if it was she had no idea, she had barely kept up with trends, only enough to make sure she didn’t look out of place when dealing with clients and the like. Used to growing up in a country where the trends were a few months behind the rest of the world, Sophia was rarely bothered by not knowing what all the latest celebs were doing. When he mentioned surprising him with coffee, she nodded, knowing she would follow through even if it wasn’t for an apology but for the mere sake of doing something nice for someone she worked with, the kind of environment she liked to foster where everyone helped each other out. “I’ll do that,” she promised, finally dabbing the last bit of coffee up and moving to grab the napkins off him so she could put them in the bin.
Tris laughed. “Now all you have to do is avoid any accidents happening to your iPad,” he joked. He understood that: some of the documents and artifacts that the historical society was tasked with looking after were so delicate that they had to be handled with white gloves and with no liquids in the room at all. They had a small, darkroom-type-space where the documents were reviewed prior to filing or exhibiting –---- such enormous amounts of care for even such small items. "Are they?" he asked with a grin. He wondered, belatedly, if coffee had ever gone out of style. It seemed that as old as humans were waking up at such ungodly hours, there had been a need for caffeine, and while trends like bubble tea and certain juices had come and gone, coffee had been a constant. "Then this will be the first time that I've ever been on trend. Momentous occasion, really. I should be thanking you." He balled the soiled napkins up the best that he could before setting them in her outstretched hand, sweeping up the – mercifully undamaged – coffee cop and setting it back on Sophia’s table before retreating to his own.
