Summary: Blue's a vampire.
This is stupid short. 460 words.
Vio had been stalking around the palace's corridors with a dim lantern in hand, eyes focused on the lit path in front of his boots. It had been entirely uneventful until he heard shuffling in the library. Curious, he went to the door and raised his lantern up higher. Hunched over a messy pile of half unrolled scrolls and open books on the floor was Blue, hands gripping tightly to a certain paper.
"Too sick for dinner but not midnight escapades into the library..." Vio lowered his lantern and strode over to where Blue was hunched over. "What are you doing reading this late?" He demanded.
"VIO?" Blue straighten up quickly, eyes wide and forehead glimmering from the sheen of sweat. "Why are YOU here so late?! Go sleep!"
"Not until you tell me what you're doing." Vio stepped closer. "Waitー" "And why are you so nervous?" "Don't come closerー" "Light your lantern, I can barely..." Vio's voice drifted off as he stared at Blue.
The two stared, Blue's breath quickening from the blank and unfamiliar stare Vio currently gave him. Vio continued. "What happened to your teeth...?"
Blue's hand quickly clamped over his mouth as he looked away. "MPHF." "DON'T COVER IT NOW!"
Vio slid down to his knees and set his lantern beside them. "Get your hand off your mouth!"
"Mmhpgh mmno."
"I'll pry it off myself, then." Vio reached over and dug his nails under Blue's fingers. "MMMPLLFYFNGH!?!?" Blue shoved his hand back and drug his hand down from his mouth. "FINE."
"Tell me, what happened?" Vio leaned closer.
"I got in a fight with a guy."
"How keen. Keep going."
"... and I won, but he scampered off after biting my wrist like an idiot. I didn't think much of it until I got cramp in my jaw."
"So you're really a vampire...?"
"Yeah, withー"
Vio started rolling up his sleeve. "Waitー what the hell are you doing??"
Vio moved his bare forearm closer to Blue, "You need blood now. So, drink it."
Blue slapped his arm away, "Hell no! I'm not treating you as a blood bag!"
Vio swung his arm back, "Just for now! We can hunt something later! Drink it!"
Blue glared at Vio's arm in front of him, then begrudgingly guided it to the tip of his fangs. He hesitated before biting down. The taste of the blood hit his tongue, the abrasive combination of vinegar and sugar. He lurched back and spat out the blood in disgust. "WHAT THE HELL, VIO!?"
Vio's hand jerked back, "What?!"
"THAT WAS THE WORST THING I'VE EVER TASTED!" Blue snarled.
"How is that my fault?!" Vio hissed. "And now you've got blood all over the floor!"
Blue stomped up to his feet. "We're going hunting."
