Hello ladies! It’s been awhile since I’ve had the time to contribute but I’ve been listening and as usual you continue to be my favorite podcast and make me smile when I need it most.  Keep up the great work.  So without further ado...

What did you think of this week’s episode? - Overall I THINK that I liked it? Once again Debbie packed a lot in and kept it interesting but it felt a little one note to me - a lot of strife and angst and not too much resolution.  

Scene - 

Your favourite? Why? - All the scenes between Rowella and Ossie - i just loved their dynamic back and forth and then eventually how she played him.  I felt uncomfortable and weird and I don’t know why but I liked that feeling.  

Least favourite? Why? - The scene between Demelza and Ross on the cliff where she confronts him about Elizabeth and he doesn’t even try to make her feel better or talk to her about it..just...ugh!  It was such a cop out by Debbie to make us feel better about her decision with Hugh.  It was cheap and I didn’t like it at all.

Character - 

Favourite character?  Why? - Prudie.  She wanted Demelza to be happy but also felt like she had to tell her the truth and then regretted talking her into decisions..I really like the turn they’ve taken this character

Least favourite character?  Why? - Drake - just couldn’t care less about his storyline, I don’t think they did a good job explaining it or show it..just wasn’t into it.

What made you cheer? - Literally nothing - I liked certain scenes more than others, but nothing made me excited when watching it.

What made you want to throw things at the television/computer screen? - The way they shot the juxtaposition between Ross and Demelza scenes.  When she is with Hugh and they kept cutting to scenes of Ross leading the men and running through the woods, etc as if they were trying to remind us she’s married?  

What was your performance of the week? - I thought Jack Farthing knocked it out of the park this week.  He showed the depth in his character and finally rounded him out, in my opinion.  

Did you find the episode to be a satisfactory end to series three?  Why or why not? - I thought it was fine.  Neither great nor bad, just fine.  I feel like there was a lot that was unresolved and there was a TON of angst this season which is par for the course but at least with other seasons things sort of ironed themselves out...idk!

Other observations - Ross’ scar was back.  That was nice to see!

What did you think of this week’s episode? - I really liked it.  It was moving at a fairly quick pace but I was engaged from start to finish.

SCENE

Your favourite? Why? - I loved the scene with Morwenna after having suffered through another round with Ossie Whitworth.  Her chanting “I love Drake Carne” absolutely broke my heart and made me finally feel a connection with this character.

Least favourite? Why? - HATED the scene at the end with Ross and Demelza.  I know that they are trying to push her towards Hugh Armitage but seriously, I don’t remember it being that heavy handed in the books.  In Debbie’s adaption its like they are making Ross be his ABSOLUTE worst self in order for us, the viewers, to find a way to be okay with her eventually going to Hugh...I just hated it.

CHARACTER

Favourite new character? Why? Ossie Whitworth - he is disgusting, mean, horrible and the actor is just KILLING every single one of his scenes.  I love to hate Ossie.

Least favourite new character? Why? - Tholly was back this week and again I didn’t understand a single word he said.  

What made you cheer? - Agatha’s last stand with George - the crazy Hitchcock type music that played and George’s reactions...I clapped like a crazy person while watching it!

What made you want to throw things at the television/computer screen? - Ross’s comment to Demelza on the beach about finding someone else.  I know Ross as a character pushes people away when he’s upset/angry, but this time it seemed like it was too much.

What was your performance of the week? - 100% hands down Jack Farthing.  Crushed every scene.  He’s so good at being bad and his facial expressions were ON POINT this week.  He was an absolute bad ass this episode and I loved watching every scene.  

What is your favourite memory of Aunt Agatha? - I love from season 1, the christmas scene where she asks Demelza to go sit next to Elizabeth so she can compare the two of them.  She’s got absolutely ZERO filter and doesn’t care.  #RIPAuntAgatha!

Any other observations you wish to share with us! - I loved the two scenes they had with the children this week, the one on the beach with Demelza and Ross talking and then the other at the kitchen table.  Again, I know it’s his character but he just seems so disinterested in both his children.  If they’ve already shown an episode where he is holding Clowance and being loving toward the children, why can’t they just put one little scene in like that?  I just don’t quite get it.

@britishlyso, @princessofpoldark & @poldarkmmmuses - i’m really sorry - i wrote a book this week!

What did you think of this week’s episode? - First off let me say I really struggled this week.  I watched the first twenty minutes 3 times because I was just so disinterested that I had to stop and do other things...after I got past that 20 minutes I was really into it and really enjoyed it.  I liked last week’s a little better but this did a lot to advance the story in just a short 58 minutes.  It packed a lot in but I felt really rushed this week...too much time on George and his feelings about parliament and not ENOUGH time on the A plot of the story which should have been the rescue.

SCENE

Your favourite? Why? - Demelza’s reunion with everyone on the beach.  You could tell is was genuine happy tears and then deep sorrow when she learned about Henshawe.  Truly beautifully acted.

Least favourite? Why? - The scene between Agatha and Ross.  First off, she is NOT afraid to speak her mind to anyone and then when she’s with Ross she’s timid and not at all forthright.  It seemed out of character for her.  

CHARACTER

Favourite new character? Why? - I’m ashamed to say it but Ossie Whitworth.  He actually makes my skin crawl but I think it’s a sign we are going to get a LOT out of this actor.  He’s already 100% embodying it and with only slight body movements is able to make me feel 100% uncomfortable in my own skin.  I’m excited to see the actor’s portrayal and how far he pushes this character.  I still love George’s line from last week “The man is a reptile and a prig!!!”

Least favourite new character? Why? - Sam.  Normally I like him but they are really skewing him to be a doormat and a bible thumper and that is NOT who Sam was in the book.  He had convictions and wasn’t all about rubbing his religion in everyone’s face for sport - it had purpose and meaning to their lives....in the show it’s just as if he has nothing better to do than preach to everyone all the live long day.

What made you cheer? - when Demelza gave it back to George at the ball.        George: It’s positively infantile.  Do you think he’ll ever grow up?      Demelza: (dripping with disdain and sarcasm) I don’t know George.            Will you?  (Drops mic and walks away)

What made you want to throw things at the television/computer screen? - When Hugh Armitage was basically flirting with Demelza at the funeral.  It was like - show some respect for god’s sake!  He may as well have winked at her...you can see Ross is very upset, she’s crying...I’m eye rolling a LOT and giving myself a headache!

What was your performance of the week? - Eleanor Tomlinson slayed it this week!  Shout it Rita - she’s a Queen!!!  Her scene on the beach with Morwenna, her scene with George, her scene with Prudie, her scene with Ross....just SLAYED this whole episode.  

Most favourite memory of Captain Henshawe #RIPHenshawe - I’m sure I’m not alone when Demelza first visited the mine as Mistress of Nampara and Captain Henshawe had that cute little rapport with her.  Loved that he never gave her side eye or made her feel less than.  When she did that curtsy and Ross grabbed her real quick he never more than smiled...loved him!  #RIPHenshawe

Any other observations you wish to share with us! - WHERE IS ROSS’ SCAR??!!!  I know that scars fade over time but it looks like the makeup department isn’t even trying anymore!  There isn’t even a shimmer on the side of his face!  It just annoys me and I’m constantly looking for it!  That is Ross’ trademark.  The running joke throughout all of the Poldark universe is that there will be children running around with scars on their face and that’s how we know they are Ross’ children...but with no scar, idk I’m just at a loss and frustrated.  Where is the budget for makeup going?  They don’t even have dirt on Prudie anymore!  Couldn’t they have used that budget to draw on a whitish scar?  Aye yi yi.

What did you think of this week’s episode? - I thought it was fine. It's advancing the story but I'm not over the moon about the series as a whole yet.

SCENE ~Your favourite? Why? - Loved the montage between Ossie Whitworth and George. The back and forth and eye rolling by George made me smile the whole time. ~Least favourite? Why? - When they showed Elizabeth high out of her skull with a fussing baby next to her. I don't know where they are going with her drug abuse nonsense but I really don't like it. I have personal feelings that cloud those scenes a little for me and I feel like they are making her use and abuse completely blasé as if it isn't a big deal...it's not right.

CHARACTER ~Favourite new character? Why? - I had a tie this week! Sam was snarky and had some serious side eye and attitude going in and I loved every minute of it. And also, I'm ashamed to say Ossie Whitworth. He actually DOES make my skin crawl but I think it's a sign we are going to get a LOT out of this actor - he's already 100% embodying it and just slight body movements are making me totally uncomfortable. I was hoping that Debbie would change the story for him enough that the French soldiers would shoot him...I was kind of bummed when they didn't.

What made you cheer? - Ross' reaction to George at the very beginning of the episode. His smile like "Is that all you've got?" when George was trying to goad him into a reaction was one of the best back and forths of the episode.

What made you want to throw things at the television/computer screen? - when Demelza surprised Ross with the baby. I don't know why it bothered me so much but it did. It was like, instead of just holding the baby and when he came in the room be like, "look what i have" it was just this weird reveal...i just didn't get it. I didn't want to throw things at the screen but I really didn't like it and thought it was really bizarre and seemed out of character for Demelza.

What was your performance of the week? - "The man is a reptile and a prig!" - George Warleggan. Hate to say it but Jack Farthing brought his A game this week and killed every scene. From his one liner to Ross outside Wheal Leisure "ask Elizabeth", to arguing with Ossie Whitworth over the dowry for Morwenna to trying to stick it to Ross about the grain...he was just great all episode long. That line about Whitworth made me laugh every time I repeated it!

Any other observations you wish to share with us! -2 things. 1) they are actively trying to hide Ross' scar now right? I know scars fade over time but seriously....where is it? It's like they were doing the budget and decided they needed to cut some makeup expenses. I noticed it since the beginning of this season but thought I was being overly sensitive but...yeah it's not on AT ALL in the second episode so...yeah idk. 2) I truly don't understand the grain thing at the end. Did they buy it with the money? Did they buy it and give it out for free? Were they giving out the money with the grain? Was it all an elaborate plot for George? Why did they they need to hide it in the meeting house? I watched it twice and read the book and I'm still absolutely perplexed! Help me ladies!

Ladies from the @poldarkpodcast, I joined Tumblr just to talk to you!  I’ve been listening for a few weeks and enjoying every minute!  To answer the questions:

What did you think of this week’s episode? - I liked it WAY better than the other two episodes from this series.  I felt like they were getting the story BACK on track even if it does differ from the books a bit.

What was your favourite scene? Why? - I loved all the Romelza reunited scenes for obvious reasons.  I felt like they were trying to show what a good relationship they have resumed since Debbie seems to have forgotten to do that (a little) in the other two episodes.

What was your least favourite scene? Why? - I HATED the scene where Ross takes on, basically, the entire French Army in Roscoe.  Like, seriously?!  Its utter nonsense!  AND he manages to escape?!  I rolled my eyes so much during that scene that I gave myself a headache!

What was your favourite new character? Why? - I could really understand Tholly without subtitles this week - which was GREAT!  He was going to take that bar maid up on her offer to Ross, just fun comic relief.

What was your least favourite new character? Why? - Maybe it’s because I know whats coming but Hugh Armitage.  When he asked if he was in Hell I found myself shouting at the television that he was going to wish he WAS in hell if he so much as set foot near Demelza...and a few other choice expletives! :-)

What made you cheer? - Everything about Prudie made me smile this week.  When she tried to cheer up Caroline even though she seems like she knew what a rough town they were heading into and when she was letting Demelza vent to her about Ross....I love the new and improved Prudie!

What made you want to throw things at the television/computer screen? - ugh the scene in court with George about the assault on the maid.  I was very very upset by that - just to go to a party?  Even Elizabeth was shocked and THAT is saying something.

What was your performance of the week? - 100%, hands down - Heidda Reed!  She killed every scene!  At first I was like, oh here we go - meek and mild - she doesn’t want to see George in court and would rather spend time at the house then see him in action and THEN when she found out Sam was Demelza’s brother - the shock, indignation and HATE that she pushed out of her eyes....like I was seriously afraid in that moment!  And her shock and you could see her struggling to contain her outrage at the trial scene....just nailed it.  I have passionate hate for her character but I’ll tell you - she just crushed her scenes.

thank you ladies!  Since this is my first Tumblr ANYTHING I hope I did it right!  Thanks for keeping me entertained for hours talking about my favorite show!
