so
that woman who got the note about her yard being “relentlessly gay” got 10K on her gofundme to decorate her house in more rainbows
and like
i just feel like a lot of the people donating to that could have like
donated to groups that actually help lgbt youth
or actual lgbt ppl
but nah
rainbows guys
reblogging twice because SAY IT AGAIN
And how much time are you all spending on this website effectively just regurgitating goofy images instead of using your time to help people?
How many of you are blowing say, hundreds to thousands of dollars a year on anime merch, Magic cards, crowdfunding quirky video games, instead of giving that money to the needy?
Maaaaaaybe we take a second and realize we don’t need to make a fucking polemic out of goddamn everything and stop dealing exclusively in unexamined sound bites and logical fallacies?
It is entirely possible many people who donated to this cause also donated to LGBT charities. It is entirely possible many of the people reblogging this have also, at times– possibly many many times– used their money frivolously and on silly impulses. Where is the entitled policing of that?
Who is reblogging pictures of the girl who knit a plushie and talking about how that yarn could have made hats and mittens for homeless queer youth?
Where are the reblogs on pictures from cons and Magic tournaments expressing sass and outrage over the exorbitant amount of money used to run them, not to mention the fees for passes and tickets, which could have been used to help the needy?
Oh right, nowhere because this is Tumblr, where self examination is something we shriek in demand of everyone but ourselves and anything we enjoy can and will be excused if not reframed into outright heroism, but anything else we will curate and nitpick to the Nth degree because apparently THAT'S liberal theory for you: analyzing cartoons and memes and games to see if they are problematic and then doing fucking nothing else.
