my friends - as it’s a day that ends in Y, i have to talk about masquerada again today. WAIT DON’T LEAVE -
like, here’s the situation, right? you can get masquerada: songs and shadows (a 12-14hr story-driven isometric RPG out of witching hour studios) on steam/GOG for $25 - and i will absolutely promise you it’s worth it. the environments and animation are phenomenal, the sound design/music/voice-acting is top-notch, the costume/character design is stunning, the characters themselves & the world they live in are compelling as hell, and the stories this game tells are unforgettable. (one of these stories is also my favorite gay male narrative to come out of any media in almost a decade - so make of that what you will.) these are people who know their stuff and they execute it brilliantly. i played the game in early november on a whim and have yet to shut up about it since.
but like - yeah, i know. “dog,” you say, “listen, there’s a lot of good stuff comin’ out soon, like we got mass effect: andromeda in march and i gotta preorder it and - “ look. look, i know. i feel it. dropping $25 on a relatively unknown indie game with 2017 shaping up the way it is is risky, especially if your game budget is as - well, unfortunate as mine.
anyway, i’ll cut to the chase: i am giving away five copies of this game for free. my dear friend @queen-schadenfreude did a similar giveaway a little while back - but this time, we were lucky enough to get some game codes for distribution from the friendly folks at ysbyrd games (masquerada’s publisher) and i valiantly REFUSE to let them go to waste.
…yeah? :D YEAH. LIKE, THIS IS SUPER RAD. even if the story was only half as good as it is, this is a group of people who clearly care very much about what they’ve done, and i would want to support them just for that. but i don’t have to! like, i’m not tryin’ to sell you something, guys, i just earnestly want this incredible story to reach more people, because it deserves it. ANYHOW, here’s the lowdown:
