so, in my au Legs is a surgeon. And since Owen and Louis are vampires, they must be able to smell the blood on him after long surgeries (before he showers but even then) and it must drive them nuts sometimes. :)
Except its another one that isn't actually a headcanon. Instead I present to you the idea of bloodletting Legs with Hanahaki disease. Normally I don't tend to like hanahaki stuff because you cannot convince me that most people don't have enough self preservation to spill the beans before the dramatic tension gets built, but Legs? Hell yeah.
He would be coughing up full flowers and still refuse to tell Owen how he feels not out of fear of rejection (well... not MAINLY out of fear of rejection) but because he knew it would make Owen freak out and undo all the progress he had made trying to gain his trust and help him.
Also blah blah blah he doesn't deserve it, deserves to die, all that usual angsty stuff. Anyway. Hanahaki.
-Legs doesn't cry. It's not that he can't, it's just that he...doesn't. It's not a conscious effort exactly, but on a deeper level, the reason why is because intrinsically he doesn't feel like he deserves to cry. Crying is something people do when they're hurt, when they're in pain, when they're mourning. In his mind, he's done too much damage to get to cry. Crying would be making himself into a victim, and he owes it to his own victims to know what he's done wrong, so some part of himself years ago shut out the instinct to cry. Because he doesn't deserve to.
-Owen is an angry crier. And he gets angry very easily. He was teased for it as a child, and as an adult and a vampire, he hides his face when he's particularly emotional because of it. If someone points it out (someone who's not Louis or Legs) he will immediately lash out at them, potentially making himself cry even more in the process.
-Louis cries easily. So incredibly easy. He cries at ASPCA commercials, he cries listening to a mildly emotional piano piece, he cries watching someone help an old woman across the street. He's also a sympathy crier. When he finds out about Legundo's refusal to allow himself to cry, he cries for him instead. And until they make it to a point where Legs feels like he can allow himself a tear, Louis will cry for him as many times as he needs.
Owen refuses to give impractical gifts. Like, the lil guy would rather get his boyfriends something they’d use than something just for the sake of giving. He often builds furniture when he notices the need or someone mentions needing something of the sort.
also I bet he took up metal-work so he could make new utensils and cutlery when stuff wore out or broke.

“Okay! Legs, heartbeat, sit still won’t you? Owen, sweetheart, stop growling, I can hear you from here.”
The three were sitting in the sunroom where Owen usually sunbathed since the windows were tinted so none of them would burn but the room itself was pleasantly warm.
Stained glass arches arked overhead casting colourful rays of light onto the pair as they laid in the pose chosen by Louis. Perched on a couch that Louis had dragged up the stairs with a blanket over their lower halves, they were laid with Legundo on his back and head on the armrest of the chair and Owen on Legs’ stomach. At that moment Louis was trying to get the pair to stare lovingly into each other’s eyes. It wasn’t working…
“C’mon guys! This is supposed to be a cute relaxing relationship thing! Not you two squabbling like children!” He pouted, wanting to spend the afternoon relaxing, not chaperoning these two.
“He keeps moving! I’m going to fall off the chair!” Owen squirmed, wiggling precariously on Legs’ chest.
“You keep jabbing me with your joints. You are so boney!” Legundo protested as Owen once again stabbed his elbow into the man’s ribs, leading Legs to jolt upwards and throw the vampire sideways. That resulted in Owen digging his claws into Legs’ arms and wrenching them both back onto the chair.
Legs had taken out his glass eye since he woke up with a headache, usually the man was uncomfortable without the fake eye since it made the townsfolk uneasy. So seeing the man with his eyelid sagging down over the empty eye socket was a real treat and he was making the most of it.
Louis sighed, putting his head in hands and digging the heels of his palms into his eyes to soothe the blooming headache. These two could never just sit nicely could they?
“Owen- Stop digging your claws into me!” Came the doctor’s voice, which was quickly rising in pitch.
Finally tired of the bickering Louis walked over and flopped on top of both of them, shutting Owen’s retort up with a kiss and Legs’ with a hand over his mouth.
“Shoosh. Both of you shooooooshhh. No more talking. Just sit.” He muttered, holding them both close before letting both talk again.
“Louis- love-“ Legs tried to protest, now under both boyfriends, even if Owen weighted barely anything.
“Nuh uh. You two couldn’t sit nicely so you get sat on.”
“Louuu-“ Owen whined, squirming underneath.
Oh how much he loved these two but oh how painful they were sometimes.
Louis stared up to the stained glass roof, amber eyes glittering as coloured light filled the room when the sun hit just right. Louis had set this room up specifically so he could have something pretty to look at when his boyfriends were out. The dark green separating wire looked lovely in contrast to the bright colours, and the colours made Owen and Legs’ skin look so pretty, like dolls. His pretty little things and the lights of his light.
“You two are so pretty. Never leave.”
“We weren’t planning to.” Legs informed him, shuffling so Owen was on his stomach and Louis could lay on Owen’s back. It was like a jenga tower but 5 times more precarious and half as relaxing.
Louis assumed Owen was having fun due to the purrs rumbling through the room, a quick check on himself meant it was definitely their smaller boyfriend since Legundo couldn’t purr and he himself wasn’t.
“You purr so lovely my love.” He heard Legs’ whisper into Owen’s ear, earning Legs an embarrassed growl and Owen burying their head in the doc’s chest.
Louis got up now that the two were still again, wanting to finish his painting now. He picked up his discarded paintbrush and paint pallet, sitting on the wooden stool Owen had made him months prior.
With Owen still grumbling in Legs’ chest, Louis relaxed back into his headspace for his painting, the slow brushstrokes and repetitive motions soothing his tired brain. Before Louis knew it he was almost done with the painting, both men were asleep, and late afternoon had changed to early evening. Staring at the painting he smiled to himself before grabbing a blanket to lay over his boyfriends.
Chuckling to himself he kissed both on the forehead before retreating downstairs to go do housework till they woke up again.
Louis was raised in an ultra conservative home as a woman, figured out he was trans and was disowned by his family when he came out (he was 17ish). He ran away and lived on the streets (sleeping last trauma now) till a vampire lord (Scott’s sire) found him. Louis struck a deal that in exchange for the vampire to help him transition Louis would let himself be turned and trained as a Goldsmith vampire.(Scott would have left to go to Oakhurst then been put to sleep by this point) He was helped with top surgery (messily and leaving bad scars) then slowly pulled into the cycle of abuse by his new sire. Was abused for 200 years till he was let out into the world (he got a broken fng from this), he went to Oakhurst and grew in popularity as people loved the mask of a kind and generous person and then he became mayor after about 15 years there. He met Owen when Owen was 17 (and small as a 13 year old) Owen was trying to sell him wood and over the summer and autumn months Louis bought from him and the pair got close. Owen got very sick near the start of winter, barely able to move at all, Louis found him dying in his hut on the outskirts of town and offered to save him. Owen accepted but mere days after that a doctor from the capital came to Louis’s home (where Louis had moved Owen) asking about a sick/dying person. Owen was still turning and pretty delirious so he accidentally attacked the doctor (giving away they were vampires as Louis instinctively protected his fledgling) the doctor of course made a deal that in exchange for not being killed and or turned he would tell nobody. Louis agreed but wanted to keep the doctor close for the time being to make sure and to have some help (he needed it) they all grew closer till Louis said Legundo was free to leave and Legs chose to stay
Louis cowered as his sire stood over him, his hands shook as he was grabbed by the longish hair he kept since he enjoyed the length still despite being trans. He didn't put up much fight as he was thrown forward onto his knees. The castle ballroom towered around him as if it was an extension of his sire’s intimidating being, threatening to swallow him whole.
“Ah-” Louis whimpered, curling into himself, terrified of the punishment. He had dropped a bottle of his sire’s aged wine, some old and expensive thing that was the colour of deep blood, almost sickeningly so; leading to his sire doing this.
“You are a pathetic excuse for a Goldsmith vampire.” Came that cold, calculating, cruel voice.
Louis learned to fear that voice, it only brought pain and hurt… ever since he had been found by the supposedly ‘merciful’ vampire his life had been nothing but pain and abuse.
Louis let out a gasp of pain as he was kicked right in the ribs, Sire’s steel-toed boots hitting him hard and winding him as his body slid on the smooth tile floors, slick with red that was
Louis had no time to recover as he was kicked again, and again, and again. He was kicked till he scrambled up against the wall.
“Please-! Stop- I'm sorry!” He cried out, shaking as he cowered in the corner.
“Look at me, Fledgling.” They spat, grabbing Louis by the chin.
Louis stared up with tear filled eyes, staring into cold grey ones with his warm amber ones
The fist that came at his face sent a jolt of fear shooting though him before-
“Louis? Louis wake up!”
Louis shot awake, biting off a scream he didn't know he was making as he gasped for breath he didn't need.
“I- I- Sorry-” He was cut off by Owen’s crooked hand pressing over his mouth gently.
“Nuh uh. No apologizing rule.” Louis himself had insisted on the rule in past, meaning it for his boyfriends and not himself, now Owen was using it on him.
Louis looked around their bedroom, Louis had insisted on putting some paintings and shelves on the walls since neither Legs nor Owen would bother, now the familiar sight grounded him.
His eyes flickered to the door as it opened to reveal Legundo walking in with a mug of hot tea and two warm bottles of blood. It honestly surprised him since he hadn't noticed Legs was gone.
“Heartbeat… you didn't have to…” He mumbled as he and Owen were handed the warm bottles.
“You're welcome, Lou.” Legs answered in his ‘I won't take any BS of you not drinking’ voice.
“Thank you.” Louis sighed, taking a long, slow sip. Immediately Louis knew Legs’s blood was mixed in, not a lot but enough to be comforting.
“Wanna talk about it?” That was Owen, even in the mostly dark bedroom Louis would know his first love’s voice anywhere.
“It was just silly memories.” He chuckled, brushing him off along with the tears that pricked his eyes.
“Louis-” Doc again. “You and I and Owen all know bottling it up solves nothing. It won't go away if you just ignore it and brush us off.”
Louis sighed, his entire body sagging as he leaned his head on Owen's bony shoulder, letting himself melt into those warm hands around his waist.
Owen was odd for a vampire, they were warm for one thing, something nearly unheard of in the vampire communities. And their claws were short, made for ripping not slashing. To top it all off they were a lovely warm olive in skin colour, meaning even Legs was paler than him.
‘Made to be a monster’ was what Owen had said, all those years ago when he first turned Owen. Louis could still remember how thin and frail his boyfriend had been. Alone in that drafty shack they were so proud of, dying.
“Louis!” He was snapped back to reality, literally as Owen was snapping his fingers in front of his face.
“Huh?! What? Sorry-” He caught himself before he could once again mess up, gods below he was a mess today.
“You're okay, just got lost in your own head a bit there?” Legundo guessed
Louis just nodded, taking another sip of his slowly cooling drink. The blood was soothing after the mess of emotions that was washing over him. He felt slightly bad knowing Legs must’ve cut himself somehow and collected the blood into the bottle. And since both he and Owen refused to feed directly, for the time being, from Legs the other had made do with what he could apparently. Vampires did need human blood but not a lot, animal blood would hold them over till whenever they next had access to human blood. Legundo had been stubbornly making sure both of his vampire boyfriends got the needed blood.
“Thank you guys… you are the best boyfriends I could ask for…” he choked out to them, tears falling once more. He had to get it under control!
“Lou. You’re deflecting.” The sharp voice of Legs informed. Legs always knew. It was uncanny…
“Fine… it was about my lovely trauma.” He plastered on a bitter smile, nothing like his usually soft smiles that only showed just enough teeth to look normal.
“Anndddd-“ prompted Owen.
“And I got to relive the second worst night of my life…” Louis rubbed a finger over the broken fang in his mouth. It was rounded so it was at least still useable, though albeit a good amount more difficult. “My sire… he was kicking me, shoving me, hitting me. I broke one of his wine bottles, dropped it as i was trembling so bad bringing it to them. He broke my fang and left me to figure out what to do… he was the worst…”
“Oh my love.” Came Owen’s voice, that soft tone he only used with Louis and Legs, the one full of love and care. “I’m sorry that happened to you Lou, do you want snuggles? Or some space?” Owen was always somehow so good at knowing exactly what he needed…
“Cuddles, you two are so perfect.” He murmured as the pair gathered the bottles and Legs’s mug onto the bedside table before slipping onto either side of Louis.
Louis let low rumbling purrs emenate from his chest, syncing with Owen’s which started moments later.
“Love you two.” He whispered.
“We love you too Louis.” The two said back, letting everyone slip into a comfortable silence.
Owen was brought up a normal kid till 9 when his parents were killed in a freak house fire, leaving Owen with burn scars all over his arms and back. He lived on the streets for a year before he got leprosy (not that he or the town knew that) and was forced to the outskirts of town. Owen picked up a rusty axe and taught himself to be a lumberjack, spending every day cutting trees to sell for little money, barely able to buy food since nobody would accept his money and any other money he had went to trying to have doctors help him. He built his shack by himself, he was so weak that it took all summer to build. He first met Louis at 17 when he was trying to sell them firewood so he could get enough money to buy a new axe since he was getting unusable. Louis became his regular, delivering the man wood every afternoon. Slowly Louis began inviting him in for tea after deliveries and they fell slowly for each other. That winter Owen got very sick, after missing 3 deliveries Louis found him and immediately Owen told him that he was dying and Louis revealed he was a vampire and could save Owen. Owen accepted but mere days after that a doctor from the capital came to Louis’s home (where Louis had moved Owen) asking about a sick/dying person. Owen was still turning and pretty delirious so he accidentally attacked the doctor. Louis handled the doctor while Owen recovered from being turned, when Owen was lucid again Louis explained that the doctor would be helping around for a bit. A bit turned into months and Legs never left.
