Some jobs are already in amazing condition when we start regular fortnightly maintenance. This is a perfect example. 𝗪𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 is one of my favourite vines, but unfortunately the flowers don't last long. Enjoy them while you can!! We have about 20 fortnightly maintenance jobs that have wisteria vines in their gardens somewhere. This photo is one of my favourites from last week. So many flowers this year! The vine covers the length of the side of the house and looks incredible from the outside too (see 2nd pic). 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐩: Plant your Wisteria in full sun if possible. It will grow in shade, but less likely to flower. Do you enjoy 𝐇𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠? Not sure if I'm weird, but I love the satisfaction of achieving a nice straight hedge. It does take patience and practice, but it's worth it to see results like this from a job earlier this week.⁣ ⁣ 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐩: The right tools make a difference. If you want great results, make sure your equipment is sharp and is cutting the leaf, not tearing it. Back when @trustedgarden started in 2012 we used to mow all lawns really short thinking that it was the right thing to do. 7 years later, countless lawns mowed, lots of learning and trialling different methods and mowing frequencies and we are definitely seeing some fantastic results with fortnightly mowing at increased heights. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Mowing your lawn short is great if you want to mow it often (some of the amazing lawns you see on insta are mowed every couple of days!!) But if you want to mow it every couple of weeks, try raising it a little and give the lawn a chance to grow and thicken up. This will help reduce the weeds over time, plus help reduce the amount of watering required and it will look awesome 👌. There's a lot more to your lawn care than just the height and frequency of mowing, but it's a very important part of a kick ass lawn! ⁣ ⁣ This picture property is maintained fortnightly and we don't use a catcher when mowing. I really 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 hedging ❤️. This new job today has a huge variety of different hedges around the property as well as some absolutely amazing ivy that needs regular maintenance. These 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 were flowerless 2 weeks ago. Then today at our regular fortnightly maintenance visit, boom! Flowers everywhere!⁣ ⁣ We're very lucky to maintain such a variety of gardens. Hedging is another part of the job that we love ♥️⁣ ⁣ If you have a hedge at your place, make sure you trim it often and maintain your equipment to ensure the best cut possible. ⁣ ⁣ If you want to create a new hedge, make sure you research the spacing required before you begin planting. I'd be lost without my @garminau Fenix smart watch. This watch takes an absolute hammering every day and I wear it 24/7. It only needs charging every 10 days or so and doesn't miss a beat. It's incredible for running, gym, counting steps, measuring distance, tracking your fitness and most importantly for answering calls via my @honeywell Sync Wireless headset. I have the sapphire edition which has ridiculously tough glass which I need to protect it from flying rocks and debris which smash against it from the whipper snipper! This amazing garden had a section of lawn that would refuse to grow. The owner did her research and planted Dichondra (also known as Kidney Weed). It is an Australian native plant that is a great lawn substitute for low traffic areas and will still grow well in low light areas with up to 80% shade, but loves full sun. It will grow readily in most climates.⁣ ⁣ It makes an attractive feature between pavers as per the photo. Swipe 👈👈👈 With Sound on for the videos to hear the engine sound. ⁣ ⁣ Has your Stihl Blower lost power and not sounding like it did previously?⁣ ⁣ Chances are you have a clogged spark arrestor! It's a very easy fix.⁣ ⁣ 1. Use your supplied Stihl wrench and undo the spark arrestor (it's inside the exhaust and easily accessible) Careful if you're doing this after you've just used the blower, it will be super hot!⁣ ⁣ 2. Inspect the spark arrestor. Is it black and clogged like the one in the picture, or relatively clean like the other one?⁣ ⁣ 3. If clogged, replace with a new one or give it a clean. It won't just unclog with wiping. You'll need a wire brush or a blow torch preferably. I'll post another video soon on how to clean with a blow torch, it's super easy!!⁣ ⁣ 4. Screw in the spark arrestor and get your machine started. If it was clogged your machine will be like new! It will sound a lot better and give you back the incredible power that Stihl blowers are known for.⁣ ⁣ 𝐏𝐑𝐎 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐒⁣ - I keep spare spark arrestors handy. This improves efficiency by decreasing time required to replace and get running again. ⁣ - Check it regularly to avoid build up in the first place.
