New Addition to Team Whisper

We launched Whisper in the Spring of 2012 out of a deep belief that the way people share and interact with each other is changing. We felt that the next iteration of the social web would not solely be focused around reputation management. And while we knew what we created would always be a unique place to express yourself authentically, Whisper quickly exploded to become much more than that. It is now a fast-growing, constantly evolving community of millions of people bound by sharing stories, expressing unvarnished moments, revealing honest emotions and connecting with the world around them.
Your Whispers over the past 18 months have blown us away! The sheer power of your honesty, humor and pathos has made us laugh, cry and sometimes simply pause for a moment almost every day since we started. We are so excited that millions of people treat Whisper as their home, collectively spending hundreds of millions of minutes each month!
As part of our mission to make the world a more authentic, compassionate, understanding and connected place, we realized we couldn't do it all on our own. (It's actually pretty expensive to serve users over 2.5 billion page views each month!) For that reason, we couldn't be more excited to announce Sequoia Capital as the newest member of our growing Whisper family in conjunction with the closing of our recent round of funding. Lightspeed Venture Partners and Trinity Ventures who previously invested in Whisper also participated in the round. As part of the financing, Roelof Botha from Sequoia will be joining our Board of Directors and we couldn't be luckier to have him as his experience building vibrant and nurturing online communities is so relevant to what we want to accomplish. He joins existing board members John Hadl and Jeremy Liew, who have been our biggest cheerleaders since the beginning.
This new partnership will allow us to take Whisper to new heights and hopefully make the world a little better in the process.
