I thought this would be a good time to do a little writeup on the baby things we purchased, things that worked and things that didn’t. Click on the title to get you to direct link.
We used this till about 7 months and then could no longer use it because she would push to stand and it was scary. But up until then it was used the most for her daytime naps. Its quite flimsy and so can be used to rock as well. We got it the day we got home from the hospital 13th Aug 2016 and pt it together in under 30 minutes. Definitely recommend.
This also was great till she was about 4 months after which she didnt like being constrained in it. Although she didnt spend as much time in it, it was a nice break from having to rock her. The soothing music can put you to sleep as well.
This can be used in so many ways. While i used it in my last trimester, I continued to use it while breastfeeding(in place of a nursing pillow which i returned), and also as a protective boundary for the baby when she was awake. Around 4 months postpartum or so I gave the pillow a good wash and donated it to goodwill.
I’m not a nightgown person and so I used it about 3/4 times. But it was a nice piece to change into at the hospital and very easy to feed. If you cosleep and feed the baby while lying down, this gown is so helpful with not having to fight clothing.
Such a waste of money if you cosleep. But otherwise so nice to use because you can have your baby nap really close to you. I do have a word of caution. This is very easy to pack and unpack but if you have it put together it doesn’t fit through a 30″ door which means you will have to disassemble it and reassemble it. We did use the nappy changing section of this for the first couple of months but otherwise all we do is use the playpen as a storage unit.
I think this was one of the first items that was baby related that I got. So helpful in the first few months when you just want to rock the baby, soothe your baby and sing a few lullabies. Always be careful about holding your baby and dozing off. Keep alarms, take help if you can.
We bought this in haste when we had a little scare at the 30 week mark. We probably used this the most of all the things we bought that was baby related. We went on walks with it, traveled with it, used it to rock her for her day naps. Very sturdy and now that shes grown out of it, its a very bittersweet feeling because it was the first car seat she sat in when she was less than 2 days old. <3
We recently upgraded to this Graco forever seat. Definitely recommend this as a single time purchase if you don’t want the hassle of changing carseats.
While there are dime a dozen baby cameras and monitors, this was probably the cheapest thing that worked wonders for us. When we wanted to work/study or cook and not disturb her, this was so useful. It picks up the littlest of noises and I could be with her in a jiffy. I’ve used this when i wanted to exercise when she was sleeping. So so useful!
This is great when you want to have your baby sit with you while you eat and get them used to sitting at a table. Although we rarely eat at our dining table, we like to give her a semblance of a routine so when its time to eat, we get her to sit in her chair and eat. its super cute to watch.
We got the baby proofing items on a need basis. Of all the things I got only 1 item was utterly useless in our case. Each baby is different and takes to things differently.
Stairway safety net: Useful if you have stairs, and a baby thats all over the place.
Play yard: Useful if your baby stays in restricted areas. Helps when you need to go to the bathroom or rush out of sight for a few minutes. My baby hated this.
Corner guards: For those tables with sharp corners. These can be a life saver. Babies love to get under tables and most tables are around the 30/35 inch height so i highly recommend these.
Outlet plugs: If you have outlets in the ground or on the lower part of your wall, you’ll need this. I never knew babies could be attracted to power outlets likes bees to a flower.
Latches: These can be used for so many things, i use them to keep our doors closed so we don’t open them.
Magnetic locks: I use them for my kitchen cabinets and love them. So useful and they don’t make the cabinets look bad.
I have a few recommendations on clothes, cloth diapers, body washes, footwear but all that another time. One big recommendation is Amazon Prime. For someone that might not have a whole lot of time to go shopping, its such a big help! If you are ever considering giving someone a (generous)gift, consider gifting them a membership. :)
