Predators flash their teeth when they are ready to attack. Remember this the next time I smile at you.
With the fires burning in crumbling buildings, leaned and bending, groaning and gaping, it seemed an endless warzone between the infected that still thrive below, and BlackWatch. Â Writhing, and moving about living an life that cannot possibly be lived anymore in bodies consumed by a disease unleashed now twice in the U.S...
Alex stares at the thickened smoke clouding the streets. Â He can see shadows moving, and what his eyes may not pierce through, his other senses pick up on well enough as he crouches at the edge of a building just watching the events of things continue to unfold.
BlackWatch.... Gentek... And they call him the monster... There was still much work to do...
But in this place, the fluctuating existence of life and death, there were still people living, and those who shouldnât even be alive... Â What might draw his attention next?
Lydia almost laughs despite the lack of humor in the matter; there was something wrong in the world and he was concerned of her putting them in danger. As if there was anything the oblivious woman could do. Ah, but was there? The thoughts lingered in the back of her mind, trying to pinpoint ideas of what she was capable of doing. Except there were more pressing matters that included retrieving her memories back so she could fully understand what was happening.
Crossing a leg over the other and folding her arms over her chest, Lydia returns a fixed look upon the other, although refusing to meet his eyes. âVery well, Iâll stay for the meantime, and I assure you that Iâll refrain from making any imprudent decisions that could put your lives in jeopardy.â Truthful, she may be, her tone said otherwise. It was in such a way that she was not taking it seriously since thinking it was a ridiculous assumption. But what did she know.Â
âWould you care to explain what the BlackWatch is? And did you say âinfectedâ?â Her nose scrunches up in confusion while her eyes narrowed, unsure of what to even think. âWhat the hell, is this the beginning of an apocalypse?â
She pauses to sort through her jumbled thoughts, but quickly shakes her head. Better to get on the offer since it was important to Lydia. âPlease. Iâll do whatever to get the memories back. I feel like a damned empty shell without them. Unless smashing my head against a brick wall will do the trick, IâllâŠwait it out.â
He was being as patient as he could given her situation, but the tone of her words when she spoke on not endangering them prompts the virus to slowly lower the paper documents allowing them to gently fall to the table only a couple inches below his hands.  The man was silent, his keen ears listening to her words, reading out her movements in his peripheral vision.
Thinning lips draw tight, though his expression remains neutral for the most part as he stands idle with his side faced towards her. Â When she finished speaking, all her pleases and her polite words seemed nothing to the fact she didnât seem to care much for the weight of his warning about risking his family.
The ripple was there again, but this time, it came as he turns to face her, transforming his limb rapidly into a strange, red appendage with three talons at the end most likely razor sharp. Â And without warning, the newly shaped limb was suddenly shooting out towards her like a long whip, aiming to snake around and grab her by the aforementioned talons, around the throat, to slam her harshly back into the wall. Â They would be positioned so not to hurt her too much, but the force, and grip, should he succeed, would be enough to make a point.
The virus - was not happy. Â His eyes narrow, highlighted with anger, and ever more fierce in the dim lighting that illuminates the room.
âWho is BlackWatch?  Let me make something perfectly fucking clear to you.â slow steps bring the man closer as viral veins pulsate out from his form, rippling and expanding before dissipating or reforming along his body - clothing, skin, and everything that he is, âThey are the people who tortured you, and would have done far worse had I not thought you worth saving.  Your life is in my hands.  If you put my sister in danger, or compromise this location --â his voice drops to a deep rumble, â--they will be the least of your problems.â
If he had her by the throat, he would release his grip drawing the lengthened whip-like appendage back before the rippling of red vein-like things would move along his arm and around his form returning it back to a human hand.
âDeadly viruses.  One primarily in particular now. Redlight.  Manhattan island is overrun with infected.  Itâs extremely contagious.  A bite, scratch... Much like rabies.â  Folding his arms with a calmed air, the virus frowns slightly, âYouâre safer here.  They donât have a conscience.â  thereâs a brief pause.  âI do.â
Her appetite had diminished to a point where she had forgotten what it felt like to be starved. The brief explanation partially helped put the wondering at ease in a way, but it only heightened the anxiety and the thirst to learn more. Lydia pushed the food off her lap to the side so she could bury her face into her hands, appalled and confused. The torture explained her ghastly appearance as well as the current aches and frailty, though she needed to know why. Unless said facility took innocent people to experiment on, Lydia had nothing to offer, no information, no special abilities, nothing. But the thing that bothered her most was the fact that she was in New York and she couldnât think of a reason why she was.Â
God, there was so much to ask, so much she wanted to know, but she couldnât just throw everything out there, that would be obnoxious of her. It would be easier if she could even remember anything. Did something, or someone, hit her hard on the head that was powerful enough to make her forget? How much had she forgotten anyway? After rubbing her face with her hands a few times, Lydia leans forwards and rests her chin on the palms of her hands while her elbows press into her thighs, her long fingers curling against her cheeks. The expression she holds is blank but her tired eyes wander upward to address the stranger. âWhat a stupid question,â she mutters under her breath before speaking louder. âI canât recall anything. Last I can remember is me at home in London, thatâs all. I donât even know why Iâm here or whether or not I came here by my own will or by someone elseâs. Who even knows how long Iâve been here. Everything is a mystery to me.â
Lydia sits back into the couch, deciding to pick up the sandwich but then changes her mind and throws it back to its original spot. In its stead, she takes the water bottle, twists off the cap, and guzzles down the drink. If she wasnât going to eat, might as well stay hydrated. She drinks until a quarter of the water is gone then places the bottle next to her and softly sighs, tilting her head up to stare at the ceiling above. She was unsure if it was worth introducing herself or asking for his name as she believed her time there was temporary. âWill I be able to return home soon or would my leaving be a process?â Lydia inquires, tapping her foot.Â
Alex had little to say to her on the whole matter.. She had amnesia, and that put her at risk.. It made her something of a risk to him as well, which made him not particularly keen on keeping her around.  If she did something foolish, and got Dana or himself hurt,.. or any of his allies, he would be a very angry virus.  But he wasnât keen on harming her either.  She didnât do anything to hurt him, or place him in danger as far as he was aware, and she may prove a valuable ally if they can restore her memories.  Perhaps Dr. Ragland could help with that.
âNo one is holding you here.â he replies passively, watching her with an almost... predatorial gaze. Â Those intense orbs carry an almost.. inhuman air about them with the way they seem to take her in. Â As if she were nothing more than something else to be consumed; something else to feed off of to survive and evolve into something stronger.
âBut youâd be pretty stupid to leave. Â So take advantage of the fact youâre somewhere safe for the moment. Â But -----
âIf you put me, or my sister in danger.. I will kill you.â Â Rising from the seat again, he moves across the room to collect some documents they had gathered, sifting through them with a narrowed gaze. Â âGive yourself a few days before you decide to throw yourself out into the open again.. Right now youâre easy pickings for BlackWatch and the infected.â glancing back over his shoulder at her.
âIf your memory hasnât returned by then, we can pay a visit to a friend. Â He should be able to help - if you want it.â
â A frown fixed on her lips, nothing he said gave her answers to the questions she had. It was almost as if he pretended to not hear it or actually didnât hear it, whatever it was, sheâll keep asking until she got her answersâŠ
This was unnatural, one moment she was weak and on deathâs doorstep and the next, here she was, strong as ever..As if the capture never happened, save for the evidence of it as shown by her tattered clothing clinging to her slim frame, the cameras that recorded her days of imprisonment and her memories of it.
Attention returning back to the male â Alex, her so-called saviorâŠwhat savior, he hardly was one the way he was acting. â her brows furrowed at the instructions. Mind flashing back to the asshole that fired his gun at her, the one that gripped her arm a little too roughly despite her protest and the one she kicked rather harshly in the shin.
A tingleâŠthen it was gone. Looking down, she saw hands that werenât her own nor were the clothes she wore. MagicalâŠWhat the hell was Alex?? So random magical creature from Hell? Maybe she seriously was dead and was now in the afterlife or something and he was the guy that was guiding her to her afterlife. Whatever it was, he was already gone.
Hurrying her steps to catch up (these boots were so heavy!!! ugh, how she hated themâŠ), she walked several paces behind Alex. Thatâs what soldiers do, right? Walk several paces behind their superior but within earshot for the sake of hearing instructions, right? Thank god for dramas and movies because she really didnât know how to act.
Surprise flashed in her eyes when he spoke, voices change too?? What sorcery was this?! Victoria had to restrain herself from poking and prodding the male in front of her and from inspecting her new form.
NaturalâŠBe natural. Donât talk, donât make eye contact, follow AlexâŠWhat the hell went on in the time she was out cold???
Lost in her thoughts, when the male in front of her spoke again, her head snapped up before hurrying to restart her steps to follow.
The maze work of the facility; long halls, people in uniform, and courtesy paid to those of high ranks, were paid and navigated promptly by the virus. Â He gave the woman, disguised it seems, only the briefest of glances as he went along, and only a small window of opportunity to keep up with him when small, more annoying than challenging obstacles came about. Â He honestly made them easier than not by throwing out random excuses, or what-have-you to clear the way...
However once they stepped outside, the viral detectors immediately started beeping sending the cluster of soldiers into high alert.  Yellow lights flash from the large devices nearby causing the disguised Alex to move more promptly towards an exit.  If thereâs any delay in her getting outside of the range of those detectors, she was bound to trigger them and Alex wasnât waiting for her.
Once heâs beyond them, however, he would find a quiet spot to wait -- and watch.
The beeping would become more intense the longer she remained within range, and soon the yellow would turn into red and the beeping would ignite into a frantic alarm alerting the soldiers to the intruder. Â BlackWatch turn their focus quickly following the motions of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) which rapidly close in around Victoria giving them a target to open fire on.
She has a choice... She can fight in a situation where she is severely outgunned, and very inexperienced with what she has become - or she can run. Â And if she runs, she would find she can move quite fast, jump quite high, and wonât go down as easily.
However sheâs facing rocket launchers, semi-automatic rifles, possibly tanks, and other various artillery.
Meanwhile, Alex, in disguise, folds his arms, watching to see if sheâs able to maintain her disguise... However he doesnât expect she will. Â Being overwhelmed like that, brand new, he doubts it.
Bother my muse with really personal questions.
â Using the moment of distraction to grab the remaining guard and soon, he also disappeared into the darkness. The only good thing here was she had to not watch her manners nor did she have to clean up after completing her meal nor wiping her mouth when she was done.
âHasnâ anyone tolâ you thaâ patience is a virtue?â was the response, her attention turning to the male at the door. Alex MercerâŠWith the way the officer spoke, she can only assume he was someone to be feared. Running a hand through her hair as she calmed from her bout of feeding frenzy, logic returning a bit as did her strength to move without help.
âWhaâ thâ hell did yâdo tâme?â she asked, an accusing tone sneaking into her voice. Untangling her fingers from her hair, âYâcanâ expect me tâwalk arounâ wearinâ practically nothing!!â she continued, looking down on her tattered clothing. Previously lacking energy to care about appearance, after the consumption of four guards, she had most of her strength back; enough to stand and move about with some to spare to speak.
âWhaâ thâ hell is goinâ on? What did they mean by infected? Whatâd yâput into me?â she asked, mind trying to recall what had happened before waking from her blackoutâŠAll she remembered was pain, hands flying to her torso and gaze drawn downwards, she searched her body for woundsâŠFor a stab wound in particular, most of her wounds were welts or cuts (some healed over, some left scars).
He was silent as she gave him lip, expression stoic and unreadable.  At least she was moving around on her own and didnât need his help.  Pressing a finger to his ear to listen, lips thin slightly with a shake of his head, âConcentrate on looking like the man you just absorbed and follow my lead.  Keep your mouth shut until weâre somewhere safe.â
Sheâs a bit of a chatter, isnât she? Â Heâd give her a once over, passive, and uncaring having no apparent interest in her form or anything about her appearance as if she just didnât really interest him. Â Right now, his concern was getting the both of them out without being detected.
âFollow my lead precisely if you want to get out of here alive.â turning to move back out into the hall, âDonât screw up or Iâm ditching you.â  Hopefully by this point she would have changed - something that would come relatively naturally; instinctive.
Boots start down the hall, though not from Alex. Â They seem to be coming towards the cells from a distance. Â His pose was so natural, and he seemed ready for anything as he stood by waiting for her to come out of the room prepared to go forward to leave the facility. Â When the soldiers would arrive, he would nod to their salutes.
âTheyâre transporting the prisoner out as we speak.â his voice having changed to that of the soldier he had consumed.
âWe have another coming in momentarily, Sir.â one spoke.
âGood.  Soldier.â Alex calls towards Victoria, âClear the room.  Weâve got work to do.â  Without warning, he starts down the hall expecting her to be ready to follow.  God help her if she loses control.. or bumps into one of the soldiers.. She probably wonât do well to keep up that disguise if she does.
ooc:
I just finished watching a playthrough of Prototype 2.......
I canât... and I wonât... acknowledge the filth that that game has done to Alex. Â I donât give a fuck how much the combat had been improved, or the infected, or the concepts like the Evolved (which is pretty neat actually)..
Some of the stuff that Alex said, and suggested...  he would never do. Iâm absolutely disgusted and insulted by the decisions made to turn him into what he was changed into for that game. The sheer amount of rage Iâm feeling right now is immeasurable.  His personality will remain heavily Prototype 1 and he wonât be some sick fucking pervert bent on destroying humanity.
â Forced to stand, Victoriaâs legs tried to support her weight, wincing at the way she was being held. Watching the officer leave the room, what was going onâŠHow does she act? If this was her rescue, he was doing a damn bad job at it. Finding the rest of her strength, she tried to shake off the malesâ gripsâŠ
Especially the one who showed little compassion, âI can walk jusâ fine, you arse,â she cursed, having enough energy to talk back and to move. âLeâ go,â she huffed, feeling the other guard loosen his grip but the one she was speaking to didnât. Deciding to take things into her own hands and to prove point that she is perfectly fine, she lifted a foot and harshly kicked at the otherâs shin. Lacking shoes, she could hardly cause any damage to the steel-toed boots.
When the other let go in pain, Victoria looked smugly at the petty revenge she exacted but it wasnât a long celebration before the guard lunged at her; yanking her other arm free, she quickly dived out of the way, allowing the angry guard to tackle his comrade.
Instinct taking over again, she rushed for the door but was abruptly stopped when a shot was fired, missing but stopped her in her steps.
Show no mercy.âŠa part of her mind whispered, They deserve no compassion for what they did to youâŠThe other part disagreed and told her to show mercy, eyes scanning between the two guards; guns aimed at her.
Somehow, her merciless side won her heart over. Or maybe it was whatever her savior did to her speaking but she craved to consume the beings before her. The scared look in her eyes were soon replaced with a predatory one. A dangerous gleam, letting her primal side take over.
Opting to take out the kinder one first, put him out of his misery despite the argument in her mind to spare him; her vengeful side took no mind.Â
Where was the compassion when she was getting beat on? Why only now was she shown some kindness?
Outside the cell, leaning against the wall with the door left unlocked but closed once Alex had found a comfortable position; arms folded, and legs crossed at the ankles, he waits keeping a keen ear on the going ons within the room.  He was more than aware of what could happen... And if she werenât able to act now, then he had just wasted his time, and his infection, on keeping her alive.  She needed to do this for herself... He wasnât going to hold her hand.
The way they handled her, and her protests, he tilts his head slightly to the side with a deep inhale and exhale, taking his time to just absorb the sounds around him and feel out the events transpiring nearby.
She was taking too long....
The chatter on the radio alerted Alex to trouble coming their way, and he slammed his palm against the door, âStop fooling around in there.  We need to get moving.â  It was directed towards Victoria, but the other soldier, witness to the consumption of previous one, was panicked as he started to back away towards the door.
âS-sir sheâs infected!!â the soldier cried out, âOh god sheâs one of them!  How -- HOW--âÂ
Opening the door, Alex moved just inside the threshold, âAbsorb him before he calls for backup.â His patience was thinning, âHurry up before I leave you here, girl.â
Hearing that, the soldier freezes to slowly look back towards the âOfficerâ, âOh.. god.... Y-Youâre A-Alex.. M-Mercer... â
Hehehe thereâs a part 2 as well, which you can find here.
ăPROTO:1114ă
ZEUS.
â Any remnants of the woman that previously laid on the ground was gone once she was done with the first guard. Her body was moving without a second thought, uninhibited by reason, Victoriaâs body was moving on instinct to regain lost strengths. A dangerous and hungry gleam in her eyes as she watched the dangled guard, taking a backward glance at the male behind her, as if to ask permission, before making way to also eat himâŠ
Strength returning to her body, a sharp inhale as reason and logic slowly returned to her mind. Despite the strength returning to her, her knees gave out under her and she crumbled to the floor as she stared wide eyed at her hands as she slowly tried to process what had happened and what was going on.
When the door opened again and people came rushing in, her head snapped up in surprise. Gaze turning to the fake officer as one challenged him before returning to the pair that newly came in. She had enough strength within herself to stand and do some things she couldnât just moments prior but something in her was urging her to also consume the other twoâŠA really strong need, a need to regain lost strengthâŠÂ
A horrified flashed onto her face as she tried to squash the feeling down and soon her worries changed when a new order was given.
As the other soldier approached, Victoria instinctively moved backwards to get away. She didnât want to be touched nor did she want to be secured. Shaking her head as she tried to (futilely) get away, âDonââŠâ she murmured.
âSheâs awful squirmy, Sir.â the soldier comments as he approaches Victoria, âHow do you want her handled?â
âDo whatâs necessary but donât kill her.  The white coatsâll have our asses if we bring them a dead project.â Alex replied, patting the other soldierâs back, âGo help the boy.  Sheâs a feisty one.. Might prove too much for him.â
âCopy that, Sir.â the one nearest him responded.
Annoyed, the one by Victoria huffed and rather aggressively tried to manhandle her to her feet, âCome up.. The more you resist, the more Iâm going to have to hurt you.â  Sadly... this guy actually seemed like he didnât want to harm her.  Maybe he even had something of a conscience but being part of BlackWatch, that was a rare thing indeed.
âYouâre not going soft are you, Steller?â the other soldier questioned with a laugh as he went to try to grab Victoria by the arm rather roughly, not seeming to care at all for her well being. Â âCome on, bitch. Â Weâre pressed for time.â
Alex was silent as he watched yet again. Â He gave it what time it would need knowing she would act... Seeing how she might respond to the man being actually somewhat nice to her despite the fact he worked for the enemy.. He was curious to see how she might handle that. Â It made a good test if nothing else.
He moves away from them to leave her alone with them... completely on her own, and unwilling to interfere if she wasnât willing to defend herself, taking up position just outside the door in case someone else decided to come by.
â A groan of protest at the rough gesture, despite the renewed (miraculous) strength in herâŠHer body ached and her knees almost gave out under her when she was forced to stand. If not for the hand on her arm, grasping tightly to keep her upright, she was quite sure sheâd be on the ground again.
Barely making out the figures before her in the darkness, something primal woke inside her and demanded to feedâŠIt was hungry, noâŠShe was hungry. Opening her mouth to say something, âIâŠâ she started before she was roughly shoved in front of one of the males. Stumbling in her steps, if her so-called savior hadnât supported her the way he did currently, sheâd be pressed right against the people she never wanted to be nearâŠ
Not with that toneâŠDisgust coursed through her veins as she listened to the murmured instructions. What did he mean?? What did he do? What was going on??
Form? Wants? What??? Confusion flashed across her face but she was soon distracted by the other guard nearby, at the comment, Victoria wanted to lean back and away from the male in front of her.
HungryâŠHer body reminded her, the primal urges returning. The need to eatâŠThe confused look faded as she swallowed thickly, licking her lips as she leaned forward as if to whisper something to the guard in front of her.
So hungryâŠA predatory look flickered into her eyes, not that the other could see with the way she was standing.
âIâŠwanâ tâimpart some wisdomâŠmy mother gave me when it comes tâboys I donâ like,â she whispered, voice still rather hoarse but much better than before, âGoâŠto hell,â she managed, letting whatever was within her, take over her mind and body, unleashing what seemed to be a monster straight out of Hell.
FinallyâŠ.Food, strengthâŠ
MoreâŠShe wanted more, she never noticed just how hungry she wasâŠ
That primal instinct within her - the need for survival, and regeneration, drove her to act, Alex fell quiet with cold eyes shifting towards the door. Â He had by this point let her go, and given her free roam of the room as the other soldier backed away with his rifle quickly brought up and aimed.
However Alex wasnât about to let his newest addition be taken out so easily. Â Bubbles of violent red tendrils would spring to life down his right arm as he stood idle behind Victoria, shifting his gaze to the man who was preparing to fire upon her before bringing his arm up to send a red whip-like appendage shooting forward with a pulsating shift down its length as claw-like ends latch into the manâs face to lift him off the ground for the woman to take and consume. Â He turns his focus back to the door, ready for the other soldiers to come rushing in at the screams that would no doubt beckon their immediate attention.
Not a word.. He was waiting for her to finish what was necessary to recover and regain her strength knowing the pair may well need to fight their way out of the facility should they be detected. Â And he needed to teach her how to keep her disguise up for the trip out as well... Quickly.. less they wanted more trouble than it was worth.
As predicted, and with the assumption that the woman would consume the soldier Alex had conveniently kept dangling like some kind of toy for her, the other soldiers came barging in just after the tendril dissipated back under the guise of the ranking officer. Â With the other two soldiers missing, there would no doubt be rising suspicion.
âWhat happened to the others?â one BlackWatch soldier questioned.
âYou boys sure donât pay much attention to the going ons of this room, do you?â Alex questioned with a sharpened tone.
The two soldiers looked between each other momentarily before cautiously approaching them, âWhat base did you say you transferred in from, Sir?â
âAre you questioning me in front of a prisoner, soldier?  Get your ass in line before I have a reason to personalize it.â  Alex, disguised, stepped up to the two with a disgruntled sneer set on his visage as he flicked his eyes back and forth, âYou.â Pointing at the soldier that had been giving him trouble, âGo get her secure.  You.â speaking to the other, âYouâll be transporting her with me to the Gentek facility down the road.â
âSir.â they both said firmly, one stepping forward towards the woman while the other stood beside Alex. Â Both unaware of what was happening.
â Despite the gaze she was gifted with, Victoria never averted her glanceâŠThis was the man offering her an escape, whatever it was. Listening to his voice, when his hand moved, she flinched and squeezed her eyes shut. A joke! He wasâŠ!!
Switch off the camera? That sounded a lot worse! No! Donât switch it off!! WhatâŠ
A whimper of pain leaving her lips when she was jostled from her position on the ground, a sharp intake of breath despite the pain flaring out from her chest. WarmâŠWell, warmer than the ground that is. What was he doing? Her mind panicked, he was going to do something! No! No more!! If she had the power to struggle, she would but all she could manage right then was to whimper and protest weakly.
Trying to focus on his voice, her brows furrowed in confusion. What was this man saying? Who was he? He most definitely wasnât one of the officers, not with the way he was speaking and treating herâŠToo gentle (in comparison to the roughness she was treated to by people here). Gentle and warm, though safe was the thing she was searching for and her gut was telling her that the male was hardly a safe person.
If she agrees, sheâs stuck with him for the rest of her lifeâŠShe just met him and that was going to be her fate if she wants to continue living, to escape the pain she was being treated to. If she doesnât agree, sheâll be left here (most likely) to undergo another few bouts of pain before sheâs let go.
âPleaseâŠâ she managed, an agreement to the terms. She wanted to LIVE and if this was the way, so be it. Not expecting what to come next, all she saw was tendrils of black and panic struck her mind again but before any words could leave her lips, pain shot through her abdomen. Victoriaâs body jolted in surprise, mouth open in a silent scream as whatever was put into her spread across her being. The last thing she saw before blacking out was the sight of the manâs faceâŠ
Body writing in pain as memories flashed in her mindâŠPainful! Make the screaming stop! Please! Stop!! No more!! Her body arched off the ground, groans of protest leaving her lips. Make the pain stop!! Whimpers, guttural groansâŠ
She was promised that the pain would go away, that sheâd be given a second chanceâŠAn escape!! But now she felt like she was dying! Was this what was offered? If that was it, then she shouldnât have agreed.Â
Images flashed in her mind, overwhelming her sense, body writing in pain.
STOP!! MAKE IT STOP!!
ThenâŠsilenceâŠ.Body stilled and limp against the ground. Not a sound made from her for a few seconds until breathingâŠshallow and quick echoed in the cell. A quiet groan leaving her cracked lips to signal that she was, indeed, still alive.
It would feel like hours.... days.. Perhaps even weeks of pain and torture as the Blacklight virus changed her body, evolved her into something not quite human anymore.  It remade who she was on the physical spectrum from a cellular structure by activating the âjunkâ DNA in her being, recreating her from essentially the ground up in a lot of ways.
She would become stronger, faster, and much more deadly... in ways that would have to be explained.  She was now dangerous to humans.  She was contagious; tainted.  Essentially akin to the virus that had injected his essence into her.
And it would take at minimum - hours to fully resolve.  It was luck that gave him time to pull this off.. and a shift change that granted him access to not two, but four soldiers for what he would need.  When she finally had calmed, he stepped away from her still under the guise of the soldier leaving her behind briefly as he made his way to the door.  âOpen 13.â  With the door clicking unlocked and one of the soldiers opening it, he stepped out briefly to motion the two inside, âI think sheâs ready to talk.â
With two more soldiers approaching, Alex had them station outside of the cell with the other two joining him inside.
âMan... Whatâd you do to her?â One of the soldiers ask.
âConsidering he ordered us to turn off the camera--â the other comments with a wry chuckle.
âThatâs enough, soldier.â  The disguised Alex would move to Victoria and rather aggressively go to grab her arm, aiming to force her onto her feet, âTell them what you told me.â  He would move around behind her to shove her directly in front of one of the BlackWatch soldiers as he leans down to whisper to her.
âFocus..â his words just barely audible to her, sliding his hand around to grasp the front of her neck from behind and under her arm, âDonât fight it.. You need this.  Let your form have what it wants.â
âYeah..â the soldier says, stepping in closer to Victoria and while his face was obscured behind a mask, his tone was rather suggestive, âTell me everything little lady.â
The other soldier standing by laughs a bit, âSave some for the rest of us, Lythars.â
â---focus..â Alex whispers again, speaking up only to encourage the two soldiers, âOut with it, girl.â a hint of encouragement in his tone, prompting her to act.
â Her body tense and filled with fear as she listened to the personâs steps approaching her. A part of her plead to have it end via death and another plead to be left aloneâŠShe didnât know which urge was stronger, to die and have it end quickly or continue to beg for her life and live. Victoria had an inkling feeling that when this ended, she was probably not going to leave the vicinity alive; it was practically useless (to her) to beg to be let go.
Yet, a surprising question was askedâŠListening to the rumbling timbre of the maleâs voice, one she didnât recognize. Victoria knew most of her torturers by now, no name but she knew what their voice sounded like and it sure as hell didnât sound like this manâŠ
How badly do you want to live?
Was this a trick question?? How should she answer? Very badly? Not really? If she answered in a certain way, would she be left alone to sob herself to painful sleep? Would the man let her go or end her misery?
Her eyes opened slowly to see who she was speaking to, straining to adjust to the darkness. Blinking her eyes, bloodshot from lack of sleep and a lot of crying â once, twiceâŠthree times before she could make out some sort of face just meters above her person.
Taking in a shaky breath, a wince leaving her lips (definitely a broken rib or two), her brown eyes looked over the face. Even in pain, she tried to force her mind to think clearly and carefully, measuring her words so she didnât say anything stupid or anything wrong for the sake of saving herself from pain.
âVâŠVeryâŠ.â she managed, voice scratchy. Victoriaâs throat was parched from lack of hydration, her captors provided just enough to keep her alive but even with the provisions, she was too tired and too injured to move. Swallowing with difficulty, âWhoâŠâ she struggled, Victoria didnât recognize the maleâs faceâŠ
It would be such sweet revenge to leave these bastards to their demise, but there was a risk that Gentek might take advantage of what he gave her and his student may become a project which wasnât something he wanted to subject her to.
He had seen her trying to see his face, but Mercer remained under his disguise knowing there were cameras likely recording the events. Â Tilting his head slightly, he examines her, his own gaze meeting herâs for as long as sheâs willing to hold it.. Thereâs something predatorial about that look in his. Â Something dangerous... Something not quite human.
âYou have to survive.â he spoke again, extending his hand forward, âIâll teach you how."  Tapping his radio, he mutters into it, âSwitch off the camera in 13.â  With a glance up, the red light would flick off, and the two would be left their privacy.  Alex would try to pull her into his arms with a glance back, âYou will stay with me, and do everything I tell you to.  If you donât, they will take you and if you somehow survive, youâll become another experiment.. Do you understand? This isnât a fucking game, girl.. You have one chance to survive.
âEven if we get out of here, you still may not.. Do you want to risk it?â
Instinct is pretty hard to resist.  His instinct was pushing him to do something he did on very rare occasions, and very few survived.  It wasnât a game.  She was broken.  She could very well just die during this whole thing, but she had a chance to survive it, too.  How long, though?  How long would it take?  This was risky as hell to pull off...
He wasnât gentle about what he did next whether she replied or not as red flared from his arm and laced about like wild tendrils of something alien spreading out like a disease across his appendage. Â With a quick glance back towards the door, he would shift her with unnatural strength so she was facing him if he could, trying not to make things any worse than they were, before shoving his hand forward into her torso allowing the virus to spread throughout her form.
There would be nothing pleasant about it.  His face would shift to his natural, Alex Mercer face, losing the visage of the guard briefly so she could see the true face of the virus infecting her; the monster that afflicted the deadly pathogen upon her, with his lips tugged downward in concentration as his essence was spread within her form allowing it to begin to change her.
With his hand withdrawing, it returned to that of a human hand and any trace of the writhing tendrils would fade before he stood knowing that any sounds she may make as a result, would likely draw the attention of the soldiers outside.  His disguise reforms in full, and he turns to face the door to stand guard of the woman waiting silently for things to progress - and to see if her body rejects it and she dies from not only her injuries, and weakened state, or she accepts it, and can begin a road to recovery... One which sheâll need some... food for.
With her having accepted the food, the man made his way back to the squeaky computer chair and sat down with his arms lazily bent across his knees, his back arched forward and his head bowed slightly allowing one eye to linger upon her as he listened.  Silence again... Always silence.  Eh, he didnât have much to say in all fairness, but it wasnât intentionally rude, it simply was that he had nothing worth adding.  However he would eventually huff, bouncing his leg briefly as he considers the woman across from him.
âYouâre in Manhattan in America. Â You were rescued from a facility where you had been tortured, and probably would have eventually been used as an experiment. Â Youâre alive because I decided you were worth saving.â Â It was a blunt truth and he didnât seem bothered by the fact he didnât sugar coat it in the slightest. Â âYouâve been unconscious for nearly a day. Â Thereâs a bathroom around the corner, wash clothes and a few gallon containers of water. Â Try to use it sparingly.â
Turning, he taps at the keys of the keyboard, âHow much do you remember?â Alex questions, his eyes sliding across the screen quickly as he writes up an encoded e-mail and sends off to his sister to let her know of the situation -- just in case she happens to come back.  Wouldnât want her freaking out over a girl in the hideout.
When he turns back to face her, thereâs a strange ripple of something red and alien echoing; crawling up along his torso and dissipating over his shoulder like some creepy sort of.. tendril branching off like a vein. Â He pushes to a stand again, making his way across the room to peer out a tiny slit in the boards covering up a window, arms folding calmly.
omg iâm sorry i havenât been so active! have that hoodie dude that absorbs powers and isnât delsinÂ
