Name: Lakewood: Just a BaCC Author: katrisims Link(s) to read: Table of contents at Dreamwidth Challenge: Build a City challenge Themes: Maxis Match, Modern Warnings: None. Description: This is my first published attempt at a BaCC. It’s not intended as a plotty story, but rather just a fun distraction (form my plottier works) and gameplay documentation. I rarely do anything with the Maxis premades, so for this challenge, they act as my townies. Part of the fascination of a BaCC to me is its potential for sub-challenges, so those will likely be popping up here and there. At the time of writing this, the challenge is in its first week, so in quite the beginning stages.

Name: Villains or Heroes? Author: katrisims Link(s) to read: Table of contents at Dreamwidth Challenge: Apocalypse Challenge Themes: Maxis Match, Modern Warnings: There may be plotlines involving elements such as kidnap and (attempted) murder, and there’s occasional swearing. Nothing graphic. Description: Salahuddin Chamcha has a curious, lifelike dream, where he finds himself in a place called Strangetown. He makes himself a nice life, makes some friends and finds the love of his dream-life. And then, disaster strikes. Can Salahuddin and his family save Strangetown, or will the villains win the day?

Guest appearances by Marielle Hutchins (dicreasy), Cypress Vetinari (docnerd), Seth Jaypalan and Rodney Jalowitz (mzyra).

This is my attempt at the Apocalypse challenge and a spinoff to my Alphabet Legacy, The Bookacy Family Alphabet Adventures. However, it can be read independently if you wish; it suffices to know that Salahuddin Chamcha is the long time antagonist of the Legacy, and as the story begins, he is in jail. The challenge is still ongoing (actually, in the rather early stages), but due to real life responsibilities, an occasionally heavy load of plot as well as other challenges, it updates slowly.

Name: The Bookacy Family Alphabet Adventures Author: katrisims Link(s) to read: Table of contents at Dreamwidth Challenge: Alphabet Legacy Themes: Maxis Match, Modern, Book character naming scheme Warnings: There are plotlines involving elements such as kidnap and (attempted) murder, and there’s occasional swearing. Nothing graphic. Description: Author Bookacy arrives in Alphabetia intending to start a family and leave a legacy behind her. However, before her children are even teenagers, Author has managed to get her family in trouble…

This is my Alphabet Legacy story that started as documenting my sims’ lives, but since the beginning in 2007, it has turned more into a plotty story. Name: Ruth’s (un)Officially Wacky Boolprop Challenge Author: esmeiolanthe Link(s) to read: The Table of Contents, or, Links, Links, and More Links! Challenge: An Officially Wacky Boolprop Challenge Themes: Gilbert & Sullivan Warnings: Generally quite light, with some sim-swearing and some artsy-fartsy writing in the supplemental short features. The artsy-farsty writing is clearly labeled for easy avoidance. Description: It’s the story that puts the “Savoy” in “Wacky”! This challenge has actual Plot, or rather Plots – eight of them, to be exact, and all of them ripped off wholesale from loving homages to the topsy-turvy Victorian operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan. There are childhood betrothals, disguises, secret identities, fairies, performance artists, vampires both sparkly and not-sparkly, truly noble noses, aliens, and gangsters! (Okay, one gangster.) Plus a host of special features, behind-the-scenes vignettes, video clips, trivia, and Swimsuit Bowling Night.

Name: Silverton Lake BaCC Author: Hurricane Taylor / taylors-simblr Links: Here you go, from the beginning Challenge: Build A City (BaCC) with some additional rules from Maranatah, Didily-sims and myself Themes: Maxis Match, Modern, Frontier style (ish) Warnings: None. Only in game fighting. No pixel blur in my game, but I try to avoid nudity. Description: 7 sims try to create a new town. They have to camp out and build their homes from scratch, build up their town’s reputation and attract tourists, and try to bring some sort of economy to town. I play with a long age mod and extra challenges to make it so I don’t unlock everything too quickly. Generation 2 has just started becoming adults and the families are all still broke and business less. I don’t want the population to grow too quickly, but I am hoping to eventually get to the point where my hood looks like an actual liveable town. Highlights so far? I don’t want to give anything away, but there are plenty of cute toddlers to look at!

Since the word “Challenge” is used both to refer to the rule sets the players use as well as the stories they write, the purpose of this Directory wasn’t very clear! This Directory is primarily for sharing the stories/updates that players create and write when they play Challenges. You fill out the form on the Submit page for each Challenge you’re currently playing and updating from, which is your Listing, and then tell us when you post updates (if you like!) and we’ll reblog them.

This blog will also sometimes post about new Challenges and their rule sets, but it’s not the primary focus of the Directory! Sorry for the confusion!
