'At my house', she signs to him. It had taken time to feel comfortable opening up to him at first, but by now she's told him the basics about Iris. It'll be strange sharing the place.

The banter from point a to point b is small-talk, nothing that carries any real weight to it - bad food on the trip, the way it's hard to sleep on a ship. Jen trips at one point - not enough to fall but enough to prompt a soundless laugh at her own expense.

The tiny shop serves two sets of two tacos, and, after finding a table outside, Jen quirts some sauce out of a bottle onto hers and takes a healthy bite before setting it back down. After a moment she looks around. Things have changed, but they're also much the same. It's a surreal moment of observation for her. She wipes her fingers off on a napkin before she resumes. 'We should talk to Jace and Ty - they can tell us what Lindon has been doing'

Right, yes. He'd forgotten, somehow, that she still had a home here. He looks forward to seeing it once he's been reminded of it, but his focus is still very much on the scenery, the smells of Port Leiry, and the people who roam around them. As they walk, he makes a point to study each landmark or place of business for future navigation.

They sit outside of a taco shop, and he takes the sauce from her after she uses it. No, he doesn't know what it is, but after a cursory sniff he decides that he thinks he'll like it, too. The first bite has him stop in surprise before he continues, and wipes his mouth after the first bite.

"Jace - you said he is the.." Jiayi closes his eyes as he tries to remember. "Fire. He is the heir." One of them, at least. He wonders if there are two heirs in the generation now, or if they'll be waiting for the one who wields air. Another bite of his food, less reaction now, and a sip of the soda that accompanied it.

"If there are other members of Lindon, I'd like to see if 'Ty' can lead us to them, too. It'll be good to see if any others have experiences or agendas of their own." He's sure, too, that tourism will play a part in his experiences here in Port Leiry, but his mind is on many things.

@tsengjiayi The Piers - A few days after the Solstice

Jen Tseng wasn't exactly sure what weirdness had seemingly made the world forget about Port Leiry, but it hadn't stopped her trying to set up the one-way trip since she'd grabbed her cousin's interest with stories of home. Eventually, things just... worked. It hadn't been cheaper or faster, or even safer than traveling across the ocean in a giant flying pillbox, but it had felt like much more of an adventure - and despite the agony at customs, it still beat airport crowds.

Jen smiles at her cousin as they take their first steps into what officially counts as Port Leiry. It feels a little strange, but even though she's only just beginning to learn more fully the ins and outs of a new form of magical expression, she feels better here than she'd thought she might; like she's unburdened by the judgements of a family that, at the end of the day, was only barely hers.

She flags Jiayi with a hand and an excited, bright smile - far from her usual baseline gloom - before thinking for a moment on how to say what she wants to say. 'You hungry?' is the question her fingers scratch into the air as her lips whisper the shape of the question soundlessly. Then, to the point, she points the way after adding that she knows a place.

The long journey here was finally over - something that Jiayi found himself grateful for as they stepped foot onto solid ground. He noticed some traces of strong magic still in the air, punctuated by mostly melted snow and puddles lingering where there should not be this time of year. He felt the unnatural humidity, as he survey the immediate area of the ports. Already his mind is focused on what's wrong rather than what's beginning.

Looking over towards his cousin, he can't help his own slight smile at her excited one. "I could eat." He follows her point with his gaze, just a simple flick of his eyes to hopefully see the actual destination - but it's just a direction. So he opts to follow with his bags on his shoulders.

"Food first, and then.. where will we be staying?" If the city is to his liking, he could look into permanent residence. It will have to be long-term no matter what. There is much research to do, and the coven needs to be apprised of his arrival.
