Art today is a joke ... some punk goes and whacks a piece of clay with a bat and suddenly its "art" its almost an insult to call any artist today a great artist when compared to the true artist such as leonardo, raphael and other unnamed artist from the Renaissance.
Art is a form of expression Art of any kind, be it music, dance, paintings are forms of an individual's perception of the world and a medium for expression of their own experiences.
Does it matter whether art exists?
The art world is largely responsible for this confusion about definitions, too. They told us that anything could be art, so long as an artist said it was.
I personally prefer art measured in human dimensions: art that whispers and doesn’t shout, art that covers me and makes me fly skipta  and does not crush.
Now, one can wonder whether digital art is a distinct art form. This is a difficult question and not easy to answer.
The Internet most influences the development of art simply by exposing more people to more art. Unfortunately, a lot of it is really, really crappy, as you would expect.
Inspiration can come from anything, whether a cloud in the sky, an old movie or a box of sushi.
Artists like to think art is important and that it matters. This makes them feel good about themselves. They don't want to even consider the possibility that they've dedicated their lives to a truly pointless and selfish endeavor. Art is nice, nothing more. Let's not think too highly of ourselves.

An essential element of any art is risk. If you don’t take a risk then how are you going to make something really beautiful, that hasn’t been seen before? I always like to say that cinema without risk is like having no sex and expecting to have a baby. You have to take a risk.

The power of art scares me so much. I realized that I didn’t know how to talk about human loss, human pain. I thought my own pain was the most important, but then I discovered that there is a collective pain. I am frightened by death, by what’s happening in the world. I am scared of the twin towers falling, I’m scared of war. It really scares me to work in the morgue because the people there know what pain is. Although I must say that working with live people is much harder than working with dead people, and even more painful. I learned that when I was working with you.
I’m not part of the art world, but I studied art and I share some of its assumptions. I do believe the higher kind of art exists. It grips and fascinates me. There are few things I enjoy more than looking at art in museums and galleries. So all the time, like any committed gallery-goer, I’m confronted by the question: why is this object I’m gazing at art? And, conversely, why is something quite similar not art? Having reached that point, it’s impossible to avoid even trickier questions. Am I being shown things by the art world that might not be art after all?
The audience for our projects and experiences are as much part of the work as we are — they complete the work.  It comes from this idea that we are all artists really, and we are all expressing ourselves more than ever.
