i posted this aug 9th last year and it’s just gotten WORSE
i've come to realize there are only two kinds of tragedies: preventable and inevitable. preventable tragedies are the kind where everything could have maybe worked out if only. if only romeo had gotten the second letter. if only juliet had woken up earlier. if only creon had changed his mind about antigone sooner. if only orpheus hadn't turned around.
inevitable tragedies are the kind where everything was always going to end terribly. of course macbeth gets deposed, he murdered his way to the throne. of course oedipus goes mad, he married his own mother. of course achilles dies in the war, he had to fulfill the prophecy in order to avenge his lover.
both kinds have their merits. the first is more emotionally impactful, letting the audience cling to hope until the very end, when it's snatched away all at once leaving nothing but a void. the second is more thematically resonant, tracking an inherent fatal flaw in its hero to a natural and understandable conclusion, making it abundantly clear why everything has to happen the way it does.
Same dynamic, you can't convince me otherwise.
when the effects of media wear off and suddenly you're just a girl in a room all over again
oof indeed,, The gaang plays Among Us!
Originally this was meant to be a review for the Last of Us Part 2, and I submitted it to IMDB, but it didn't get accepted, so I've thought I'll just share my thoughts here in the community. Just so my words will be read somewhere at least.
"Ignore the leaks, ignore the bad reviews by people who haven't even played the game. Just play it yourself. Actually, play the first game first and then start this one. The last of us part II is the game that (clearly) this world wasn't ready yet. It is a video game which goes beyond the mindless multiplayer shooter crap, which gets released every year. This game has value and depth. No other video games has done this before. If you didn't like the game, you didn't understand the game or didn't play it all and jumped on the hate wagon. This game is 100% for adults. Mostly because of the gore, sex, violence etc., but another big reason is that you have to be a grown up to even BEGIN to understand the depth and reality of it. It is real. It is not black and white like most casual games which end in happy endings and has a protagonist and an antagonist. The graphics (on HDR) is unreal because it looks so lifelike, therefore immersing you deeply (especially in the scary parts), so deeply that you won't be able to stop playing. I'm so glad I can finally put my thoughts out there without being attacked immediately and I hope it will be useful for those who are interested, but scared to play because of the cancel culture and the angry mindless idiots.
Just play it.
You will see what I mean.
Summary: READ THIS and play the game first before you rate it."
